Dwyer stood across from the thief with his brows furrowed and arms crossed. The thief looked away, humming a tune as he drummed the table’s surface. Behind Dwyer, the door opened, drawing the attention of both the cop and the criminal. “Okuni,” Dwyer stated her name as a greeting then frowned, “you’re late.” They were cops, or as far as he could tell he was one and she was...someone playing at being an officer. Although partners, she didn’t quite fit the responsible civil servant role.
“Ara~ Did he talk already?” She tilted her head, stepping to his side. Dwyer shook his head and Okuni smiled. “Then I didn’t miss anything.”
“You’re sti-”
“Don’t we have something to do, if I can recall correctly?” Okuni flashed him a sweeter grin. “Really, Dwyer, we should be focusing on the task at hand.” Pulling up a seat, she patted the table. “Anyway, enough talking, let’s begin.”

Busy scribbles of crayons on paper filled the library’s ‘Craft Corner’. Mumbling, giggling children talked over their doodles to occasionally comment on each other’s before ducking their heads and attending to their own drawings. All the brightly colored small plastic seats had an occupant. There were two, however, that were unlike the others.
Okuni did not know how she came to be there. She had been having a conversation one moment and then pulled along by library attendants the next. He had not been spared either, that Jack, but it didn’t seem as if he particularly minded. The whole event was suspicious but she couldn’t blame him; it was entirely plausible for her getting stuck in the kiddie crafting corner to be entirely coincidental. Perhaps, they needed someone older. Maybe, they mistook them for volunteers. She did not know but she could make the best of the situation.
Drawing was never Okuni’s strong point. She did not like the sitting, the concentrating. But oh how she could doodle. As the other began to lean over, lips parting to form the beginnings of a word, Okuni patted the wooden desk with her fan. “You wouldn’t be so rude as to peek at an artist’s unfinished masterpiece, would you?” Shifting to block her paper from his view, she flashed a smile. “Wait patiently.”
A few moments passed with only crayons and pencil scribbles passing as conversation between them. “Here you are.” Sliding the paper over, Okuni unveiled her masterpiece. There Jack was standing very noble-like in the center with cartoon poop around him and stink lines emanating from his being. And as a final touch, she had added a halo of flies. “Take it as a gift.” Drawing it had been fun but she had no use for trash.

There was a call, some shout that snagged Okuni’s attention. Pausing in her walk, she tilted her head and listened for any further noise. Standard running steps and thuds followed and Okuni pinned the sounds as those indicating a fight’s beginning. How exciting. It wasn’t that she particularly liked fights but there was something about low leveled thugs and angry jeers that reminded her of home. Although, usually Baren would be with her in such fights. Still, even without her twin Okuni was fairly certain she could deal with whoever was making such a racket.
Peering around the corner, hiding herself behind the stone wall, Okuni counted about five thugs, one distressed girl, and one wannabe hero. It was a familiar scene but one she didn’t often see played in front of her. “Hup!” Hopping onto the wall, Okuni dashed forward, still unseen to the others facing the street hero.
With a leap, she landed behind one of the thugs. Before the other could react, she gave him a deft jab on the back of his knee with her fan. Moving out of the way, she watched as he staggered backward. “Mind if I join in, Mister Hero?”

maybe this wasn’t the brightest idea he’s had all week. on his way home from class, ichigo chanced upon a situation he just couldn’t turn a blind eye to and ignore. it was a small group of larger men–around four or so of them–harassing a young teenage girl. this kind of thing happened everywhere, he supposed. sleazy bastards with no concept of personal space of the word ‘no’. despite it being absolutely none of his business, Ichigo couldn’t just stand by a let something so disgusting continue on and feel good about it later.
“hey, fuck faces,” he yelled out, immediately gaining the attention of the crowd of men. they gave him a nasty look, one that said ‘get the fuck out, this is none of your business’, but of course Ichigo ignored that one. “what kind of low life jerks go around harassing a little girl? disgusting.”
and immediately after he says that, he has one of them coming straight towards him with a fist raised. due to being a fairly seasoned fighter, Ichigo had no problem avoiding it and returning it with a punch of his own which, unlike the punk’s, landed a hit and sent the man backwards on his ass. and that, naturally, caused a little chaos. suddenly there were several people coming at him at once, and though he was outnumbered Ichigo took a stance and prepared to defend himself.

She couldn’t resist. There with face on book slept some stranger not knowing of Okuni’s presence or the fact that she had with her a pencil pouch of markers. The library was a pleasant place; the sun filtered in from the tall windows and filled the space with light. Soft papery flips of pages and the dull scratches of pen on paper created a rather relaxing ambiance. It was no wonder that someone had fallen asleep.
Very carefully, very quietly, Okuni placed her pencil pouch down near the stranger’s books and took out a black marker. Raising her sleeve, she snickered as she began to artfully draw poop on the person’s cheek. Beautiful. A masterpiece.
#kingvolleydork#you could either have him be the stranger or he can see her drawing on someone else#w/e you want it's all good!#th 03

The sun had set, the stars had peeked out from their cover, and the streetlamps that peppered the streets of Bellevue had flickered on. The neon signs of bars lit up drawing in people like moths to lanterns albeit quicker and in larger quantities as lanterns don’t serve nearly as good drinks. Nighttime had come once again and a different kind of life traveled the streets and alleyways. A rowdier, more troublesome sort.
“1, 2, 3...” Okuni counted the unconscious men that now lay on the ground around her. She recognized some of their faces from those she had thrown out of the bar she worked in. The others, well, she assumed they were reinforcements of some sort. Not very good ones. “What a cute welcome this was.”
Turning to look over her shoulder, she looked over at the last of her opponents. He took a step back and then another before running further into the alleyway, almost colliding with someone else.
“Ara~ One ran away.”

Okuni tilted her head, the tip of the fan she carried with her resting just above her lips. She had walked far enough through Bellevue to know the difference between the city and her village. The buildings were taller, the area larger and busier. But the difference between the apartment in the Westside district that she lived in and the various other living arrangements she had seen, this one being the Condos, was staggering. Her lips lifted into a small rueful smirk but then it was gone.
Figuring that her walk had gone on far enough, she decided to continue on to the purpose of her stroll. Okuni moved forward quietly and tapped the nearest stranger lightly with her fan. “Excuse me,” The language felt foreign on her tongue but the words were clear enough. “Would you happen to know where I can buy cheap furniture?”
