I’m going to be online for a little while! I’d love to see some more apps and questions. We only need 12 more apps to open and we have so many pantheons that only have one or two deities. If you’ve struggled with groups in the past and want a place to be creative and collaborative this is definitely the place for you!

do we have to keep the gender of the god/deity? say if i wanted to apply for thor, would he have to be a male muse or can it be a female incarnation?

So there’s a couple things about this. Firstly these are not “incarnations” these deities are the same beings that existed in the ancient world or at the foundation of their religion. They have the same powers they always had, they are not human incarnations.

That being said, the deities can choose their forms. So if you wanted to play Thor as a woman that would be fine, but you would have to keep in mind that this was a conscious choice by Thor to be a woman, not an incarnation that they had no power over. Because these deities are in many ways representative of the culture they were invented in, they are also very entwined in traditional gender roles even if they don’t necessarily reflect them. At the same time the name of the group is “sacred rebels” and is all about the deities learning to break out of the roles created for them. So if you did want to change a character’s gender, I think it would help if you explained why they decided to make that change.

tl;dr: You could change the gender of the deity you apply for but you would need to provide an explanation after their mythology as to why they are choosing to present as a different gender then what was assigned to them by their original cultures.

Hello all! I am currently watching “Great Mythologies of the World” by The Great Courses. It’s pretty interesting and I’m learning for the first time how to pronounce some words (don’t judge me!!). Well I just filled the queue and made it a bit faster so hopefully we get a little more traction, but I’m about to head off to sleep. I’d love to wake up to a few applications. We already have some muses from the greek, egyptian, and sumerian pantheons. We’d love to see a Hades, Zeus, or Poseidon. We’d also love to see Ra or Isis or any of the other amazing characters from mythology!
