I think one of the most deeply concerning parts of our society and the proof that we're so irreparably fucked as a country is the amount of studies showing that UBI and shorter weeks and easy access to Healthcare and transition all make everyone's loves better. People are happier and more productive and have more time to be people. And yet we're still just subject to the whims of 1,000 petty tyrants who feel less in control if they let you work from home and so they resist those changes with every fiber of their being. And it works. Isn't that fucked? A CEO says he wants to foster "company spirit" so instead of making everyone's lives better, including his own, everybody has to commute into work. We are not immanatizing the eschaton huh. We're just stuck like this forever.
