Superbat meets the Kents for the first time is one of my favorite tropes for them. Ma and Pa Kent would be over the moon with anyone Clark brings home, it’s just baked in. They loved Lois, they loved Lana, and then when thirty-something Clark brings home a forty-something Gotham billionaire vigilante who looks like a super model except for the eyebags, they’re trying so hard.
Bruce clears his throat and says “I parked my plane in your corn field. I hope that’s alright.” And it takes Ma and Pa a moment to get over the words my plane before Pa says “The one near the barn?” and Bruce gives him the most bizarre look before replying “No, sir. The one you just harvested. I’ll backfill the wheel ruts before I take off, I know you’re planning on rotating crops for winter to fix the nitrogen” and Pa looks at Ma, Ma looks at Pa, and Pa claps Clark on the shoulder and says “This one…this one is more than okay.”

You know what I actually think is bad writing
Everytime Dick Grayson assumes the worst of Jason Todd.
Btw this has happened one (1) time in canon where Jason was right and it’s hush 2 and even then it’s still more forgivable bc it goes against his devotion to Bruce so I can forgive it
Listen Dick Grayson is an asshole
A fucking prick, insensitive, manipulative all of that yeah
Dick Grayson has never once not given someone as many damn chances as humanly possible okay
Helena? Defender
Tim? Advocated for him over and over again
Steph? Literally the Batman to her batgirl
Jason? Believed him when all evidence pointed against him being innocent
Damian? Literally??? Batman to his Robin? Trusted him when he needed to go off on his own? Supported him throughout his discover
That’s just the bats???
Being close friends with Jericho, starfire, raven?
Training rose
In the current run he was defending the gangs from the cops? Bc he understands that they don’t deserve to die and that type of violence and force is in herently unethical
Dick Grayson has never been and will never be the motherfucker who thinks jason Todd can’t change? Okay
You can make him a prick about it
But like don’t ever make my boy ‘you broke the law you will never change’ okay
Brother the whole reason for the tarantula and mirage storylines is him being like… yeah okay im fine giving literally anyone second chances
(FYI this is true for every dc character barring, Talia Al Ghul, Azrael that’s it. That’s the list)
Dick Grayson is tHE guy for rehabilitative justice okay
To the point of extreme naivety and ruining his own life
Thank you

I don’t know if this was an actual post I made or if it was a reply in a post but I am still laughing at the idea of Sun Wukong (still in the Monkey Staff) getting picked up by Jack and pretty much immediately going “I like this monkey kid I’m blessing him with my good luck”) which is 1) why Jack is so attached to the staff and 2) why he seems to come out of all of these situations that should have killed him comically harmed but never dead.

Chase and Omi facing down their demons (visually external demons, but honestly both are facing down their own darknesses here) and going about it the exact same way.
That squinty glare and little frown that looks cuter than it down intimidating as they try to just stare down their own darkness, only to inevitably blink and falter away because they're really not as unflappable as they pretend to be.

There’s some party at HQ and everyone has to help out- originally Ed was going to have to walk around handing out h’ors d’oeuvres or something but at the last minute he got roped into the band 😌 and he had to dress up in full formal military dress bc it’s a fancy party with dignitaries and ambassadors and stuff 😌 Roy is at a loss for words lol
(I hc that Ed can play violin and piano)

Just saw a post making fun of "Officer Grayson", and people were engaging (agreeing) so hard with it, and I'm just? So confused? "He deserves to be made fun of by his fam", "Fuck you, Officer Grayson.", "DIE!", "Finally a good post" Like wtf is this??? Dick joined the force to fix the system from within! Did they all forget that?! It's so weird that being a good Samaritan is now considered an evil work, and killing has become the good work because "they are criminals, it's only the bad guys being killed", "They deserve to die." I'm so tired of this fandom, a bunch of clowns. Now I remember why I left Tumblr 2 years ago...
The thing is, just because he was a cop doesn't mean he was toeing union lines and condoning police brutality and whatever. In fact, his time at the police department was specifically spent preventing this exact type of behavior.
This includes:
Intervening to prevent police brutality from other officers:
Using his cop connections to more easily access villains by slipping in and out of the Nightwing persona, with the added benefit of not having to butt heads with the law and accidentally getting them freed in the process
Clearing OVER A HUNDRED CORRUPT BPD MEMBERS using officer privileges and his ties to Amy
And on the smaller end of things:
Preventing harassment of a gay cop
Saving a girl who wrote to her Christmas letter to the BPD
Etc etc etc.
And it isn't like Dick doesn't recognize the limitations of being a police officer either. There's a whole subplot in an issue where he can't deal with a domestic dispute as a cop because it's out of his jurisdiction, but it is because he is an officer that he was aware of it and could exact vigilante justice after the fact.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's fine if you don't like him as a cop in the present day or if you don't think the job suits him in general. I liked his time as one, but there are other things you can do with his character.
What bothers me is when Dick is prescribed the typical negative stereotypes associated with being a cop simply because he was one, when in fact his whole arc as a cop was about going against the grain to cripple the corruption from the inside. He at no point adhered to the stereotypical standards of being a cop. Most of his fellow cops kind of hated him. He did his best regardless. And, for many relevant stories of the era, him being a cop gave him access to resources that were integral to his job as Nightwing. It worked.
And I guess you could say that the BPD was still corrupt at the end of the day, but you could also say Gotham is still full of crime after a decade and a half of Batman. Why does he apprehend the criminal?
Because, even if for a second, there's hope of improvement. And that's what matters.
TL;DR: He wasn't some gun-toting power-abusing jackoff or something. He did his best to spite the system in every way and measurably improved the BPD from the inside for it.

Bruce Wayne. Playboy. Philanthropist. Socialite. Gotham’s golden boy. The gothic prince. The perfect public figure.
Of course he’d be invited to join Dancing With the Stars. But Bruce? He always refused. Leaving Gotham unprotected was never in his plans. The producers were beyond frustrated—they wanted Wayne on their show, but he always said no.
And then someone reminded them… Bruce Wayne has kids.
All eyes turned to Dick Grayson.
Dick had done a bit of modeling, was always loud and charming at Wayne galas—and god, there were actual videos of him swinging off chandeliers at those parties. That alone was enough to qualify him as a “star” for the show.
They called Dick.
Dick said yes immediately.
When Dick was announced in the cast, Gotham’s social media exploded. The boy with the brightest smile in the city, now in sequined ballroom costumes? Instant sensation.
At first, Bruce seemed against the idea. But on premiere night, there he was, in the live audience with Jason, Tim, Cass, Damian, Duke, and Alfred—watching Dick absolutely nail his first jive.
After that, the family supported him from home, posting tweets and updates cheering him on.
Stephanie took it upon herself to repost every TikTok edit she could find.
Tim? He secretly became the president of Dick Grayson’s fan club, fighting Booster Gold stans online every chance he got (because of course Booster was also in the season).
Bruce himself even gave reporters full, public support for Dick.
Damian may or may not have had a shirt made with a picture of Dick wearing a hideous, bright green, low-cut disco ballroom costume with a message of support for Dick and posted a picutre on the family Instagram account that Stephanie insisted they do.
Dick crushed it all season long and made it to the finals. He didn’t win, but he got second place—and honestly? Everyone was thrilled. Dick was proud of himself, and the family was proud of him.
A year later, though, Gotham collectively lost its mind when Jason was announced as a contestant.
He placed fifth. And Dick never let him live it down.
Now the entire Batfamily has an ongoing bet about who’s going to be the next one invited on the show—and if they’ll manage to beat Dick’s record.

Sometimes I think about the fact that Omi's confirmed that literally his deepest desire is just to be with someone who he knows without a shadow of a doubt likes him, believes in him, trusts in him wholeheartedly, and will let him fight by their side. Or even just let Omi be by their side, as a place where he will be allowed to belong

I'm so certain that part of the reason Chase becomes more and more determined to have Omi in particular rule by his side forever is because he wants a lot of the same things Omi professed to want: someone he can trust, someone whose skills he can believe in, someone who he enjoys being with and feels like he belongs with

Thinking about how much better Dick is at pushing away Bruce than the vice versa.
Bruce pushing Dick away:
Straight, simple, to the point, and so blatantly unconvincing that there is barely any bite to the sentiment. Dick is not upset because Bruce doesn't need him but simply irritated that Bruce wouldn't admit it.
Dick, on the other hand, is SO much more convincing about it:
First, it's true: Dick is capable. Bruce believes in his boy more than he believes in himself.
Additionally, this entire arc has revolved around Dick taking point *and* Bruce's instincts repeatedly being proven incorrect. Dick and the narrative are constantly reiterating that Bruce is not as adept here as he would like to be.
Therefore, the entire premise of Dick's argument is instantly accepted.
Second, by referring to Gotham solely as Bruce's crusade, Dick manages to make Bruce question the validity of his own views on their partnership. Bruce, himself, thought of Gotham as a shared legacy of theirs— not just Batman's city but Batman and Robin's city— and this has been foundational to their entire relationship.
Now, if Dick has severed himself from this integral part of their relationship, it would only stand to reason that he can divorce himself just as easily from Bruce too.
Dickie truly not pulling his punches.
He's incisive with his words, polite and all the more cruel for it. He says Gotham was never my home, you were never my home, and wraps it up in just enough truth that it feels incredibly, and almost undeniably, real.
All in all, Dick's words hit the mark, and Bruce leaves this conversation truly believing that Dick doesn't need him.
And now, look I'm rarely a Bruce defender but I can't help but feel so sad for him because when Bruce leaves, he does it with genuine heartbreak.

I know it’s popular fanon that Bruce Wayne is like a Paris Hilton-level celebrity, but I also think it would be hilarious if Dick Grayson was also independently famous as a child.
The Flying Graysons were relatively well known within the DC Universe. Add onto that just how skilled Dick was as a child gymnastics prodigy (the quadruple flip) - that kid could be looking at being the youngest competitor in the Olympics gymnastics. And as time goes on and we move into having a more younger millennial/older Gen Z Dick Grayson, it’s totally believable that the Graysons could have been YouTube famous or something.
So I just think it would be so funny if, when Bruce took Dick in, it was a big news story - not just because billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne has adopted taken in a kid, but that kid is Dick Grayson of the Flying Graysons!
Bonus points if Dick is desperate for that celebrity to die out as he gets older (there was definitely a resurgence in popularity when he was spotted out with Kory).
Bonus bonus points if Bruce Wayne is kinda famous, but it’s also a bit of a Tony Hawk situation wherein nobody recognises him in public* (if asked probs by Clark, he tells people it was a trick he learned from the Tibetan monks. In reality, he has no clue and it infuriates him.)
*yes this is directly inspired by all the times in canon no one in Gotham business land seems to recognise Bruce Wayne somehow

I've got another heartbreaking de-age fic idea for Dick. Specificly, depressed and sucidal teenage Dick Grayson.
Trigger warning. This is very heavy.
When the Bats were on a mission, there was a magic accident which brought a younger version, the somewhat middle years Robin version, of Dick Grayson to the present. Current Dick, unfortunately, was not there to witness that. He was busy with Blüdhaven stuffs. The Robin Dickie that the Bats met was nothing like the golden perfect little angel of Batman that they (minus Bruce) pictured. Mini Dickie was a demon, a trickster, a troller, a child filled with anger and laugh menacely while breaking a thug's shin. He was still sunshine and bright, yes, but he was far from what they (minus Bruce) imagined.
Tim: Did he just broke that thug's leg in half?!
Jason: What the fuck, Dickhead?!
Mini Dickie: He was being mean.
Mini Dickie: Also who are you lot?
Mini Dickie: B? When did you hand out recuit members posters?
Bruce was familiar because he was there during that era of Dick. Mini Dick and the Bats chat a bit and while Little Dickie was having fun, the Bats grew concern about Dick's mental stage when he was at this age and Dick's mental stage in general.
But the noticable thing was Little Dickie kept on using past tense for his current self, as if he thought that current Dick was dead. The Bats, though confused, didn't question his used of words.
They brought Mini Dickie back to the manor, thinking Dick will be thrilled to meet his youngerself, but they were wrong. Dick saw a glimse of Little Dickie and immidietly cursed to himself while Little Dickie stood in shock when he saw the big version of himself, current Dick. Because this was not supposed to happen.
Dick was never meant to live pass 17, Dick made a plan to stop at 17 but now Little Dickie is seeing current Dick, twenty something and Little Dickie was so confused. Mini Dick kept on questioning why was he still alive, does he not want to be with Tati and Mami anymore, and all the questions that painted the horror on the Bats' faces. How bad was Dick's mental health? No. How terrible it was, is and will be for him to have such thoughts and acceptance at that age. How long has Dick been suffering in silence?
Turned out, ever since the Graysons' death, Dick had tried to take his own life. But being Robin saved him, or at least let him gave himself more time. Dick loves being Robin and wanted to live but the survivor guilt was just to big it consumed him, leading to depression. So Dick promised to himself that he would end it at age 17. A perfect age, a perfect time for Robin to retired, a perfect moment to see Tati and Mami again.
But as seen, Little Dickie's plan didn't make it. Dick is still alive, not thriving but still breathing and that confused Mini Dick. Is he that selfish to live when everyone he ever loved had died? Little D does not understand. And the more Mini Dickie questioned it, the more horrid was shown on his family's faces and the more current Dick feels like he is fucked. Because how was he supposed to answer his family questions to all of this?
We can also add some extra angst by having someone slipped that Dick will not the the only Robin in the future.
Yeah... idk midnight fic ideas are either weird or depressing.
it's 9:30 in the morning i haven't even finished my first coffee yet this is making me so so sad tf
