thinking about how doomguy is not invincible or unfeeling. how he very very much reacts to pain. how in every single game, he gasps or grunts or cries out on being hit, how in the classic games the more damage you take, the more exhausted his sprite face looks, or how sometimes when you die, he'll scream in agony. how in 2016 and eternal when you're at low health, you can hear him breathing heavily, echoing in his helmet. It will never stop him, because that's sort of his whole deal, he is always faster, stronger, angrier. But that doesn't mean he doesn't feel it, doesn't mean he doesn't feel every ache and burn and cut and bruise he getsin every fight. He fights like hell, but nowhere did that ever say it didn't hurt like hell.

Gonna put on my fanciest tinfoil hat and start the conspiracy theory that samuel hayden actually let olivia pierce start the hell invasion and i'm only basing it on the meltdown mission where he states that olivia is currently the only one able to acess the terminal and can basically do whatever she wants with the uac computers and that there was "nothing they can do to stop her", even though hayden clearly denied the slayer acess to another terminal in the previous mission so he would come to the vega terminal!
