I think everyone in his family were so quick to change their mind about Cale not only because of his new personality. I think maybe everyone low-key hoped that one day he will change because they knew he was not so bad and he had a lot of potential in him. And then he did change and they just sighed with relief and went like oh finally he's back

I mean you can't probably suddenly get on someone's good side just because you were suddenly nice for a few days. And the pure speed of how they welcomed him back in their hands mean that they were already waiting with those hands open.
