A body of work consisting of acrylic pours, watercolours and digital prints. Influenced by the ocean, the decaying coral, the garbage pollution, the waves and the creatures (2021).
After extensive exploration and research, this work was shown in a local gallery in the Caribbean (Gallery of Caribbean Art, Barbados) for my mandatory end-of-term final (Fanshawe College).
This body of work visually questions beauty vs absurdity and how the beauty of the ocean can be portrayed with all the harmful and ugly truths of human pollution and global warming.

Acrylic pour tryptic, inspired by a piece of driftwood on a beach many watercolour sketches emerged and guided me to an acrylic pour to mirror the thick and fluid feeling the water and driftwood make me feel. (2021)

Watercolour & pen, inspired by the trees of the Caribbean. Process of sketchbook thoughts and preliminary sketches! (2021)
Translated into my own abstract language I find a deep connection to trees and continuously draw and sketch them outside of school work.

Still-life (with room for imagination), oil painting process, 3'x4', 2022.
I enjoyed this style of still-life where it wasn't a requirement to copy exactly everything that is seen. Abstract art is my passion and I am delighted to add it where I can!

Representational abstract acrylic painting process, 16"x20", Petrea volubilis flower, 2020.
Though this painting may not look visually exciting or finished it personally ignites a joy in my creative veins that I now can find a language for (next post).

Here is a larger series of oil paintings, that have been taken back into the environment that inspired the abstract imagery and photography. This originated from the collages I create from my endless collection of nature images taken in my current area of Nova Scotia, Canada.
The "bringing it back" series started as a way to reflect the way people (and myself) take photos of our natural environment like flowers and birds, and translate them into the way I view the world through an abstract lens. These abstract paintings are no different than a piece of seaweed lying on the beach or a leaf in a tree. I am creating my own language that I wish others to contemplate and connect with (or not).
I look forward to continuing this body of work in a new environment!

Acrylic and oil painting process; discovered that I disliked the colour yellow in this piece and couldn't settle on a colour palette.

Most recent abstract acrylic painting, 3.5'x5'.
Studio-based classes allow students a choice of medium and theme. My goal was to create depth with an eerie surface which mirrors the ripples in the water and seaweed beneath the sea.

Thorough documentation process of this acrylic and oil landscape painting, 3'x4'. This was challenging because it made me constantly question myself as there were so many directions to go while trying to follow the guidelines, which were 'space sandwich', merging both far and near spaces) (I always take a moment for abstract background painting at the beginning of most assignment-based paintings to help my creativity and keep my interest)
