I'm realising that any time I go to Tumblr Dot Com these days, it's barely ever to reblog anything anymore. I spend most the time just screening the dash and when I see something iffy, I check the originating blog. And then, more often than not, I end up blocking them.
Basically, I'm just hurting myself here.
Any time I feel like I wanna engage with a community, it seems like I hit upon an undercurrent of horribly stupid Discourse that immediately saps any interest and makes me vigilant against such crap in the future. I'll just say, for people who like to call others feds, certain folks on this site sure do like to fall for weird pointless divisions that, at least to me, look like they could have come from a textbook on 'How To Do A Psy-Op'.
If that's the price of community, I'll just continue working shit out on my own, thanks.
All this to say, I'm taking a break from this site. I may not come back TBH. Maybe if I do, I'll carve down my follow list to a fraction of what it is currently. That's an evaluation to be made as I mull over a variety of things. I'll miss the funny animal vids, but I can find those elsewhere if I really need them anyway.

Also like, you can't theorywank your way out of the fact that oppression isn't unique to The System, as in the global conceptualisation of society and social norms; oppression can exist within a micro-system. A subgroup. A community.
And there has definitely been a push within certain spheres of the queer community to treat trans men and transmascs especially poorly. When you build a community around gender-based separatism and are publicly constantly putting down transmascs in the ~2015 era 'Tumblr in Action' way, screenshotting the worst of what some rando with barely any reach said at some point (with precious little proof that it's not a sockpuppet or troll), you've recreated precisely the sort of shit they have to deal with from reactionaries. That we all have to deal with from reactionaries.
I'm sorry, I'll stop calling these morons a psy-op when they stop acting like one.
This post just has a complete lack of critical thought and understanding, so I want to go through it bit by bit to really get into this post thoroughly.
In order for "transandrophobia" to be real, androphobia has to be real.
That's not how words work! Those are two separate words, and you're conflating them because you don't think marginalised men should be able to talk about their problems. That's like saying "defenestration" isn't real, because "fenestration" isn't a word. Like, that's not how any of that works. "Bisexual" doesn't mean "of two sexes" or "having two sexes". "Homophobia" isn't the FEAR of gay people, because phobia means fear. This is just being willfully obtuse on purpose because OP doesn't want to think about anything for more than two seconds.
The word is "trans + andro + phobia", meaning "trans + men/masc + phobia". The discrimination, oppression, and prejudice against trans men/mascs. That's it. There's nothing else to it.
that means cishet white men have to be oppressed. they are not, they benefit from a cishetero patriarchal society.
Again, this is conflating two things that have nothing to do with each other. We aren't talking about cishet white men, here. We're talking about trans men and mascs. And also, like, if you don't think cishet white men can be oppressed then idk what to tell you, because there's other marginalisations out there outside of gender, sexuality, and race. Ability, class, religion, and weight are also all factors in this.
Cishet men DO benefit from a cishetero patriarchal society, but we're not talking about cishet men. We're talking about TRANS men/mascs. Because, again, that's why the word is TRANSandrophobia. Also I'd argue that the benefit cishet men get varies differently based on different circumstances, some more than others, but unfortunately these kinds of people are so caught up in "man bad woman good" ideology that they can't comprehend anything else.
every example used for androphobia ends up being racism, classism, homophobia or transphobia.
And here we have a fundamental misunderstanding of what intersectionality is (don't worry, it gets worse!). When people talk about androphobia or misandry in this context, they generally mean that a person's manhood or masculinity impacts and intersects with the way those other marginalisations manifest to create a unique experience, where you cannot separate their manhood or their masculinity from their marginalisation. Gay men experience homophobia for being GAY MEN. Not just for being gay, but the specific type of homophobia they may experience is that of gay MEN specifically. Take the word "faggot" for example: That's a slur that's historically been used against gay MEN. Because they are gay, and men. To separate these things out is to erase one or all parts of their identity, because intersectionality requires you to look at the complete picture of somebody's life and draw conclusions based on how everything interacts with each other.
that does not make transandrophobia a real thing.
You know what DOES make transandrophobia a real thing? Trans men and mascs going "here's a word we've decided to use to describe our experiences." That's it. Full stop. If you deny this language you are actively being a bigot, because you are saying marginalised people cannot define and come up with terms to describe their own experiences. If you deny this, you are just a transphobe. End of story.
"but intersectionality!" that still requires androphobia to be real. a woman posting "i hate men" is not androphobia or misandry. it has to effect ALL men, much how misogyny effects ALL women, regardless of race, class, sexuality, or whether or not they are trans.
Here we have it, folks, the thing that gets misunderstood time and time again from people arguing this: intersectionality.
That is simply NOT what intersectionality is. Coming from the same crowd who spouts the idea that "transandrophobia doesn't make sense if you have a basic understanding of transfeminism", they sure don't have a basic understanding of intersectionality. Let's do a quick google search to see what the definition of intersectionality is, on a basic level!
"Intersectionality is a sociological analytical framework for understanding how groups' and individuals' social and political identities result in unique combinations of discrimination and privilege. Examples of these factors include gender, caste, sex, race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, religion, disability, height, age, and weight. These intersecting and overlapping social identities may be both empowering and oppressing."
That was literally taken from the first paragraph of the wikipedia page. Notice how it does not specify only axes of marginalisation, but instead actually specifies "combinations of discrimination and privilege" and "both empowering and oppressing". Wow!
What this means is that all aspects of a person's identities intersect to create a unique and specific experience to that overlap in identity. So, no, androphobia does not need to exist as a systemic form of oppression to be able to say "trans men/mascs' identities as both trans and men/mascs create a unique experience that you cannot separate out into both "trans" and "man" because of how intersectionality works."
transmisogyny is the intersection of misogyny (which all women face) and transphobia (all trans people face), but BECAUSE androphobia isn't a systemic issue, transandrophobia is not a real issue.
So, I'd like to point out the fact now that OP has posited TWICE that women face misogyny - correct - but has conveniently left out the fact that other genders can also face misogyny too, namely trans men and mascs. That's part of that intersectionality we keep talking about - some people also define transandrophobia as the intersection of misogyny and transphobia that is targeted at transmascs.
So, which is it? Do trans men and mascs suddenly not face misogyny because they're men/masculine, which is why they can't use the term transmisogyny to describe their experiences, or does transmisogyny have a more specific meaning "targeted at trans women/fems" and therefore transmascs need to use a different word to describe that intersection that they absolutely do face?
And again, for transandrophobia to be a real issue, it just takes trans men and mascs saying "this is the word we've decided to use to describe our experiences." That's it. Again, if you say its NOT REAL, you are denying very real discrimination and oppression that happens to marginalised people.
you are not oppressed for being a man, you're oppressed for being trans
And there it is, folks, the absolute worst take ever.
This means a couple things, depending on the way you think about it:
Trans men are not men. They are only trans, and they are not men because they are trans.
The default trans experience is men's and masc's experiences. Everything else is an offshoot, because there is no way that being a man/masculine can have a unique impact on the type of transphobia they receive. This is why there's no "male" version of homophobia and no need for a men's version of transphobia. Men are the default and therefore should be catered to before anyone else, and women's experiences are just an offshoot of what men's experiences are first and foremost.
Those are both ridiculous obviously. To actually refute that last sentence, here is what I say:
Trans men are men BECUASE they are trans. And they are trans BECAUSE they are men. You cannot separate these identities, and doing so is erasure and transphobia.
Get better arguments.

Got this when i asked what transemasculation was.
Why the fuck are they making terms for oppression against trans masculine people in spaces that we arent in? We should get to decide on our own vocabulary. That just feels straight up rude.
The discrimination we face is actually kind of rooted in us being men. And i really wish people would stop trying to tell transmen/transmasculine people about the roots of our own oppression. We know it better than you do. And there is so much more to the oppression that we face and theres more causes than just "doing man wrong".
#Bloody politics#Queer shenanigans#Fun times nowadays#You think 'oh maybe I could connect to fellow leftists online!' and then a bunch of leftist spaces are browbeat by dumbass authoritarians#You think 'oh maybe I could connect to transfems online!' and a bunch of *their* spaces are browbeat by dumbass authoritarians#Who have decided that being shit to transmascs is the be-all-end-all of their engagement#And who act like the thing that worked for them is universally the best solution for *everyone* in a similar position#And when someone gets mad at them for doing all of that they fucking circulate the post like it's one of those Tumblr cringe compilations#Just bullshit you'd have seen in 2015 from the reactionary crowd#But see it's fine because the person saying the same horrible shit that you'd hear from a reactionary psy-op is trans!#And knows all the progressive terminology!#IDK man sometimes I wonder if we're all cooked

hey! you shouldnt make jokes calling cis people eggs, especially when they are real living breathing human beings with intelligent thought and critical thinking. if you do, you're weird and i think you should consider the effect your words more often, because as someone who was a very public facing cis person who had a lot of Egg jokes made about me before transitioning, it still makes me fucking sick to think about. it fucked me up so bad that i refused to transition until i quit my job and wasnt under the eyes of people making bets on my psychology. how dare you fucking speak down to me regarding my own identity. how dare you fucking claim to know me better than i know myself.
it is not the privilege of trans people to have their stated gender identity believed, nor is it a sin of cis people to acknowledge their option to transition and still remain cis. make egg jokes about fictional characters, fine. but accusing a stranger of not being the gender they claim to be is not something you get to reclaim when you're trans.
#Bloody politics#Queer shenanigans#For real though#Getting constant egg jokes from someone who turned out to be an abusive piece of shit kept me closeted#Doesn't help that it's someone who now has a platform whomst I still see being talked about to this day so fuck me I guess
