A World Where Dinosaurs Never Went Extinct (unfinished)
You live in a world where the dinosaurs died out over sixty five million years ago. Your scientists cannot find one concrete reason for the destruction of some of the largest creatures that have ever graced the planet Earth. Meteors, volcanoes, hell even aliens have been called to be the reason of the destruction of these beasts that roamed the Earth. How would life have been if the dinosaurs had continued to roam the Earth? How would early humans and even possibly modern day humans have interacted with these magnificent giants? You’re world explored these ideas through media, in movies and books such as Jurassic Park and Walking with Dinosaurs. Your world is obsessed with dinosaurs and how they would be interacted with. Now in my world, the dinosaurs survived. Humans grew and evolved alongside these great beasts. Cavemen were both fearful and curious about these beasts who, depending on their size, mutually felt the same way regarding humans. Our versions of the Greeks and Romans harnessed the beasts for the first time as creatures of great feats of war; the larger beasts were used for war platforms and were mounted with scores of archers or even large siege weapons such as catapults. Genghis Khan ravaged Asia with his raptor hordes and standard bearing Rexes. Perhaps the greatest shows of battle with these beasts were during the Second World War. By this time most of the great world powers had the developments of artillery and machine guns. Brontosauruses with anti aircraft guns or shelling equipment mounted to their backs were commonplace as both offense and heavy defence; pteranodons that swooped from the sky either firing machine guns or picking up infantry and releasing them high in the air ravaged the battlefields and the great Rexes fought with powerful machine guns mounted to their armour took bites out of all who opposite them. Wars became more and more advanced and our creatures became ingrained even more into our culture. For as long as everyone can remember the rite of passage by both males and females throughout the world and ages has to be to tame their own dinosaur in some shape and form. The most common tamed creatures were the passive herbivores such as the Triceratops, the Styrachosaurus, the parasaurolophus or less commonly the ankylosaurus or brontosaurus. Taming the latter two was a feat that was hard for an individual and often it took more than the combined effort of ten plus trained tamers to capture and tame the great brontosaurus. The carnivores were only attempted by the brave or stupid. Many people died in the task of trying to tame a flesh eating beast that would tear them to shreds without a second thought. Many were found within meadows with half a body or their entrails running across the grass. A minor few manage to take these beasts and they become the most loyal creatures imaginable and some of the most devastating war beasts ever seen walk our earth.
