Lelio was a cool guy who introduced jazz to Italian pop music structures in the 60s but then dabbled in being a drug dealer and got caught and served a little time and led a socially withdrawn life after he got outta jail 💔.
He’s from Trieste, Italy, where my Italian family is from and I always joke that if I stopped doing hair I’d have to be a drug dealer bc it’s too late for me to assimilate into the legal capitalist grid, I feel a certain kinship with Lelio for these reasons.

my dear friend/client Rachel Day in my studio (she is the photographer here). Rachel is a deep genius acupuncturist and fellow outspoken supporter of a decolonized and free Palestine. I look up to her for her strong public voice, moral compass and disregard of pearl-clutching supremacy 3
