I'm starting to see people shoving things created by Medrano, and her person shoved into the same category as rvvby and RT and that is concerning because, the only two things they do have in common is that they have really toxic fandoms who hiss at every tiny critique done to the shows and that it still claiming to be "indie" when they're already part of a big studio, and let's face it, the last one is only applicable to HH, regardless of sharing the same "verse" (or whatever they call it) any other work of hers is still very much indie, no matter how much anyone loves or hates it.
And even then, it still bothers me that people put Medrano and MK in the same category.
Look, HH is far from being a masterpiece, it was a pretty hot mess, and a-okay show, I'm not here to say anything about its quality, but the one thing it has over RVVBY, RT and MK is that all the people involved genuinely loved the show and loved being in it and despite the flawed final product, you can feel how much everyone involved cared about it.
This is not something anyone can ever say about RT or MK (I’m not including Monty in this btw, for obvious reasons) we all know that their hearts were never that invested into this project, this isn’t a supposition, we have the interviews, commentaries and tweets to go by, and I don't even have to do conjectures, we have the testimonies of past employees about how awful it was working at RT, and I’m not saying Medrano is a saint, you don't have to like her work and definitely don't have to like her as a person but to put her blunders to the same level as RT rampant sexism, transphobia and exploitation of employees is just silly imo.

I just realized there's another thing that at best, annoys me and at worse pisses me off about the rvvby stans.
Because you see, normally I'm all for fandom sticking the middle finger to bigoted and mediocre writing in shows, specially when the creators are vocal about hating the changes, it's actually fun to participate in that and piss them off even more.
And there's a lot of that same content in this fandom that's clearly a byproduct of the subpar canon writing, and has a bunch of lore and representation that's actually absent in canon.
But in this fandom, there are too many people who despite creating this type of fanwork, they still be licking the boots of the crwby, they defend them and claim that the interpretarion of... idk... this time I'll bring up the whole fan interpretation of Penny as a transwoman, and how these stans say it was totally intentional and that the series deserves to be praised for that so-called portrayal... despite the fact that we know there was a lot of transphobia in RT.
And again I want to specify this isn't for the fandom creators in general, only for the subset that spend way too much time praising MK and making up reasons why rvvby is actually good I swear!
Like how do you reconcile both things? I can't wrap my head around it :/

All jokes aside my heart goes out to the employees who now need to find another means for work. The rest of the company I could care less about

Here are the results lol.
I have a suspicion that there were people thinking I was proposing "solutions" to the v10 thingy rather than just being a shipost, but that's my fault for not making it more obvious, and some ended up taking poll a little too seriously, but still let's review the winners and the losers:
1st° - Series is canceled and then rebooted, without MK.
Yay!!! My favorite won!!
I think it’s pretty obvious by now that I have stopped having faith in RT and them writing any semblance (pun very much intended) of good series, I think they were riding the wave and fandom that Monty left behind with his early departing and now that most of that hype has gone, they no longer have any incentive to continue it. That's why they're leaving it in the hands of the audiences, for me that sounds the same as washing their hands off the responsability.
Yes, I'm aware I sound very mean, but honestly, I don't think they deserve much else from the fandom at this point, the only people I feel bad for are the crew members who were mistreated and do professional ass kissing to MK.
Having said all that, I'm also deeply aware that this is an almost too ideal scenario and even if it happened there wouldn't be any guarantee of the reboot's quality.
2nd° - V10 doesn't get greenlit and the series is put on hiatus.
For a while it looked like this one was going to win, and it's not like I hate it or anything but I find this one significantly less funny than the others, probably because it's the one that's more likely to happen, and that makes it less funny and sadder instead.
Also, who knows how long of a hiatus it would be?
3rd° - Series is canceled and Ice Queendom becomes the reboot
I'm honestly surprised this one ranked as high as it did, I sort of added it as a joke, because of how divisive the anime ended up being among certain people.
I myself have mixed feelings about it, my general thoughts were that it was a-okay by the standards of rvvby, but pretty meh for an action anime, and I remember feeling disappointed that we didn't get a proper soundtrack and instead mostly rehash songs and scores from the og, and while some of the action scenes do look prettier, they also skipped A LOT for the sake a wrapping everything that wasn't about Weiss.
Those were the top three, and honestly the remaining 3 aren't that different from each other which is probably why they ranked so low, because I wrote the poll in one sitting and didn't think that well in the wording my the options lol.
But I'm super glad most of us are in agreement that rvvby could sooo much better if MK were gone from it forever and ever 😂

Given the whole fiasco of the RTX involving v10, and the strike I doubt that we'll be getting any rvvby content for a while now, so...
I once again urge the RWDE side of the fandom to read Kubera: One last god. I promise you all that it's so good that a good chunk of the reason I didn't touch this blog in so long was precisely because I hyperfixated in it and despite its length I have made several re-reads of it.
It's a story rich in worldbuilding, lore, characterization, philosophical and moral questions, and A LOT of grey morality, of every single shade running around, even from the most upstanding of the characters, and right out of the bat it's announces as a story "with no heroes or villains, only victims."
Some of my favorite lines from it aren't even accompanied by impactful images, just a black bg with text, like a quiet acknowledgement of their situation:
Tumblr media
Sure, the art of the 1st season is a little wonky, and some of the humor seem outdated (it started on 2011), the official translation can be awkward to read, but come on, this fandom was given a lot worse in terms of quality of animation, art, and dialogue from the v1 didn’t we? And unlike RT, the author delivers on everything they set up, and continuously improves, you can tell she has everything planned and knows exactly where she wants it to end.
And look at how she portrays herself, as a literally Currygom, meaning a curry+bear in Korean (yeah, it's one of those authors who don't like showing their faces)
Tumblr media
Every single promise that the RVVBY series has failed to fullfil for the audience? Currygom delivers far above and beyond, and she has a whole ass encyclopedia of comments for almost every episode of the story, just to fill in lore or the occasional blank.
So, try to give it a chance, please.
Also, if you doubt me on the art evolution, here's some proof, the first images are very early s1, and the second is from s3.

@kaliyugafan Dunno that sounds like the wet dream of both MK and their stans, we're trying to come up with things that would be fun at their expense, not ours 🤣

@achillesmonochrome @eddie773-blog
Oh my god, I don't know what's sadder, the idea that some rich fan with money to spare did this because of the pedestal they have RT on, or that they themselves did it, but making it look as if it was said crazed fan... nah, nevermind the second is far more depressing.
@daywalker27
I'm sooooo tired of white writers pulling the Jesus' stunt, why do they have to do that?? I need someone to put the christianity metaphores, symbolisms and allegories on a very high shelf where no one can reach it until white writers have learned to write something non-christian.
rwby usually gets new volumes confirmed at RTX. this year v10 didn’t get confirmed as greenlit. instead CRWBY asked if folks could use the #greenlightrwbyv10 hashtag to raise awareness
Tumblr media
Thank you for the ask!
Man, idk what's worse, that they didn't even offer an explanation or that they are once again, being incompetent by shifting responsibility of the v10 happening onto the fandom.
Either way, I'm not sorry for them 🤷🏽‍♀️

Man, I have been so our of the loop that it wasn’t until after I made that vent post, that I realized the whole thing about v10 apparently not happening?
Honestly, I don't even feel bad, but if anyone can give me more context I'll appreciate it, please 🧐

You know what's very specifically infuriating about MK? But more about Miles?
After more or less 10 years, in which, they spent over half of them being the main voices in the writer's room since Monty's passing, they STILL dare to pull the "Oopsie, sorry guys we're still learning about how to write our own show, and we made boo boo again, please be patient :3"
And their stans still buy that shit up!! 😬😬
And I don’t understand why people keep giving them leeway, as if they don't know how to be writers, because just we're clear, I have problems believing this was EVER true, even during the first 2 volumes. They weren't amateurs or recently graduated or anything, they had been working for YEARS in RvB, there's a world of difference between being unfamiliar on how to write for a certain genre, and not being able to write, period.
They kept pulling shit like "we had no idea how to do x", specially about the ship teasing and the queerbaiting, and I believe them, because I'm not saying they are evil masterminds or something either, that would be giving them way too much credit, I'm mostly talking about that saying of how suficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.
They are incompetent writers, to the point of being downright malicious and sometimes even hilarious. And whether they themselves are aware of that or not, they pretty much keep pulling the same incompetency excuse, when people point out rvbby's writing flaws, and then turn around and repeat them :/

So... remember that one World of Remnant episode about Aura? The one that was exclusive to the ...DVD or something?? IDK, nowadays I think it's on the official channel, but if you don't want to go there I got your back:
Anyway onto my rambles:
The one thing that back then stood out for this one was the last couple seconds talking about how if someone worked hard enough, they could use their Aura to become something other than a man, while focusing in a silhouette of Ozpin, which back in the day sprouted a bunch of theories about his identity, power etc. etc.
(I should clarify that this WoR was before Monty died and before V3, and obviously before the whole clusterfuck of him and Salem)
And back then I couldn't figure out what this sounded similar to, other than your usual ki/chakra/spirit energy plot device that so often pops up in anime. I also remember that years ago I made a post about how all the obvious east asian inspiration of the rvvby magic system were scrubbed off and retconned from the series, and even then i couldn't put into words what it was that made me think about that.
But in recent years I have gotten into wuxia and xianxia dramas and I think I finally realized what the whole Aura and Semblance was at least partially inspired from:
Spiritual cultivation, how in these works regular humans (sometimes with one or two requisites) can choose to "cultivate" their natural spiritual and/or divine energy, and if they really, really apply to them, the cam become immortal, and if they work even harder (or if they're the special protagonist lol) they can ascend to become gods. And depending on the work, there's also demonic/evil cultivation, where people can eventually become demons.
Now, this isn't something that the xiaxia genre invented, it takes obvious inspirations of taoist beliefs, which while mixed with buddhist teachings are still upheld today, but I'm not versed enough in that to explain any further.
Again, this could just be nothing that my rambles, but I remember that I used to be a firm believer that Ozpin would be revealed to be immortal, and maybe not even human anymore, and back then my reasoning was very close to what the whole cultivation deal entails.

RWBY fans are weird because they’ll be like “This show is so diverse! There’s a trans character”
But it turns out that the trans character is a background character and her being trans is never mentioned in the show. And the actress dealt with some horrible working conditions, and she was so underpaid that she couldn’t afford to eat, and her coworkers got hundreds of thousands of people to call her the f-slur.

@lunatriense 😂 I kinda figured, but as english isn't my native language it's always hard for me to tell, but I'm biased because spanish is a lot more expressive and our dubs tend to reflect that as well... unless the company in question is saving buck with the VA's of course.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@blog-I-hate-friday I know too well what you mean, there are already set VA's for the Justice League here as well, but the ones in this movie are definitely not those ones, how bad was it? Well, I wasn't able to tell who half of them were by their voices as I usually do, Superman and WW were at least in their suits, but Batman, I honestly was like "You’re not MY Bruce" the whole time, I bet that they used the excuse of "they all travel to the Remnant as 16 years olds!" so they wouldn't have to use the regular voices, which is hilarious, because is not like this is the first time they've had to do younger voices for those characters.
Yeah, save yourself from the disappointment tbh.
So, not sure how many of you know that Crunchyroll is also starting to do latam dubs, and I begrudgingly admit some of them are very good, and have contracted with some very known talents in our voice acting industry.
That was the ONLY reason why I decided to check on that Justice League crossover movie with Rvvby, because so far the series has not been dubbed here, and I thought to myself "well, maybe a good latam dub could make this tolerable" and went and watched it.
And dear lord, now I have a new way in which rvvby got me disappointed.
Silly me, I forgot that sometimes for projects that aren't considered promising or high priority usually end up having low quality dubs, especially because they tend to hire non-union VA's for them, but I wanted to believe that because it had the Justice League name attached to it, they would do something more.
They all sound bored, deadpan and just plain emotionless delivery of lines, which was not helped by the absolutely awful script, I would bet my monthly salary that someone from RT was in charge of it.
