He was surprised by the suddenness of the proposition, but he very much did feel the same way about Iori. “I mean, you’re definitely right,” he said with a laugh, grinning widely. “Yeah, let’s make it official -- so I’m your boyfriend now?”

“i wanna make it official,” iori said bluntly, chin raised slightly as they looked at sowon, lopsided smile on their face. “i’m into you. fairly certain you’re into me. and despite what many might think, i see myself as a pretty monogamous kinda person. so what do ya say?” @rvsowon​

“Don’t tell anyone I said this, but... I was a little worried about them, too,” Sowon replied. “It’s silly but when I first saw the title of our debut reused for them I had a bad feeling, and I’m relieved the feeling wasn’t right. Like they haven’t lost faith in us.”

“you know, i was kind of worried about s.o.s debuting,” deokjun admitted. “so many other companies will have a shiny new boy group and let their old groups decay and… maybe there’s still an opportunity for that to happen, but so far at least, i’m just real glad that we’re still getting ample attention.” @rvxseokjung @rvsowon​

jaeho felt himself freeze as soon as he heard sowon’s question. this is somehow worse than when inho asked me if i was in a gang, he thought. but then again, just because he had backed of from actually tattooing regularly didn’t mean it wasn’t easy for anyone at higher to guess he still knew how. “um, i know people that can give you a tattoo, if that’s what you mean.”

Sowon blinked, replaying his question in his head. It probably sounded like he was asking for one. He waved his hands frantically. “Ah! I’m just -- I’m just thinking about it more lately, I don’t know if I want to get one actually,” Sowon clarified. “I just know you have a lot of tattoos so you might know about them more. Does it hurt to get one done?”

“Hyung, you do... tattoos, right?” Sowon addressed the elder when he saw him in the halls at Higher, whispering when mentioning the word tattoos as if he was afraid of being caught saying the word out loud.

"I hope she does well! Well... I hope everyone does well on the show, honestly, but... I’ll be rooting for her for sure!”

“i’m so proud of my sister– she’s so brave,” aesol announced with a dreamy smile. “her old group went bad, but she’s never given up! even when her solo work didn’t blow up! and now she’s still trying on idol project! i would have definitely given up by now– i should tell all my fans to vote for her….”

“you know, terra is so weird. i don’t understand it half the time,” yujeong said. “they assign us colours or whatever, but then barely do anything with it? i guess maybe that’s a good thing, but i would have thought they’d dye my hair purple by this point…. i kind of want to see dajeong with yellow hair… that’d be kind of funny…”

“I half expected that New Age would’ve had more color-coded merch for Terra with that big marketing budget by now. I guess they’re waiting on that, huh?”

“at this point, i’d be worried if you couldn’t,” iori quipped back, tapping on their lip idly while they smirked. “i’m okay with that. for a second there i thought this was going to turn into a porno, which i also wouldn’t be mad at, but eh.”

He sputtered a laugh. “I’m committed to becoming a bad boy, yeah? So whatever it takes, but... within some reason, I guess.”

“you know, it’s nice being not-famous here yet,” zak admitted. “i know that’s gonna change when my group debuts, but i couldn’t walk anywhere in LA without getting someone pointing at me. it’s cool to be normal for a few months.”

“That sounds like a nightmare, honestly... getting recognized is alright, but being pointed at? Don’t like that one bit,” Sowon said.

“well, i’m glad it’s better, but i’m still mad. especially with all this talk of a new group. if they do all that nonsense, only to have promotions falter because of a new shiny boy group, i might just have to say something– pr reps be damned.”

“Noona, we’ll be fine,” he assured her. “It’s looking like Hyunjoo is going to be part of the lineup for the new idol project group, and Inho or Minsuk probably are too -- I don’t think Higher is going to rush the group through a debut without them. They’re not going to forget about us.”

she burst into laughter, covering her mouth with her hand. “i guess you really would be out of your depths in this department then,” she giggled, pushing her hair back. “yeah, it would probably give a bit of a different vibe. i still think it could be fun, though. kitchsy hawaiin shirts seem like they’d be a fun summer vibe.”

“I think it’d be fun too, kind of like the vibe in those old beach party movies,” Sowon said. “I like the beachy, summer-y vibe, even if the movies were super corny. I think it’d probably be a fun concept to take on.”

“well, just so you know, i’m a very intense and dedicated teacher,” iori informed sowon, biting back a laugh. “and super in demand and all that. can’t work for free or anything….. gotta make sure it’s worth my while…”

“Oh, are you? Lucky for you, I can handle some intensity,” Sowon retorted, trying and failing to bite back the grin on his face. “We can work something out, I’m sure. It might have to be an apprenticeship kind of deal.”

“i’m still livid about that. they put minimal effort into your group, promise that they’ll only debut a new one once they get you established, and then their solution for that is four comebacks in a year to fast track it? i’m proud of you for pushing through and for getting your first win, but jesus.”

“I’m grateful that they focused on us, but it felt a little suffocating sometimes,” Sowon admitted. He didn’t think it at the time, or more so, didn’t really want to admit it. “It would’ve been nicer if they spread it out a little more, but... it’s better now, at least.”

“sowon, i don’t know how many queer women you know who don’t have stylists behind them, but i have absolutely seen some dress like that. you underestimate how far some of us will go to turn men off and signal to other women what our interests are,” solhee said pointedly with a laugh. she personally was pretty femme, and couldn’t see herself venturing into that fashion territory, but it happened. often.

“Solhee, respectfully--I can probably count the women I’ve been attracted to on one hand. That being a possible turn off really isn’t something I’ve given a lot of thought to,” Sowon said with a laugh. “Nevertheless, I still think it might read different on me, or I’m underestimating the vibes I give off by a lot.”

Sowon was trying to figure out what meme-y photo he’d taken they that should post on Rewind’s socials to celebrate their comeback, and the reaction he got from Doah told him it was definitely the right one. He almost forgot about the book he’d asked her to get while she was out. “Thanks, Doah, I’ll pay you back for the book! I know fencing is a bit niche, was it hard to find?”

Doah didn’t mind running errands for her friends, in fact, during this little mini break she wanted to spend as much time, however cold, soaking up as much sun and fresh air as she could. So when the other requested her to go pick up a book at the store for her, she didn’t mind going and grabbing it. Maybe she’d even grab a book of her own. She’s on facetime with them,  about to announce that she’s finally found the book when she sees the meme they were showing her on the screen, “I—” She starts before moving the phone out of her face so she can at least try and contain her laugh, “SO ANYWAYS, i found the book.”

“this industry as a whole…..they treat idols like animals, not people. you and me too. and it’s been years. how many times does this need to happen before we get some sort of union or legislation?”

“After the marathon promotions Rewind had late last year, I think I agree a little bit... my voice was starting to go raw with the lack of rest then,” luckily the group had a nice long rest after wrapping up their last set of promotions, but it still stood. “I really wish I knew.”

“well, i don’t know if you noticed, but that is right in my personal wheelhouse,” iori answered, grinning. “so like…if you need tips and tricks when the time comes, you know who to call~”

“Of course, it’s only natural to learn from the best~” Sowon said.  “A little tutoring could go a long way.”
