montréal victoire papercraft for my wall. it's probably about 25cm long? i would have crocheted another mini jersey, but i really like this logo and i couldn't capture those details on such a small scale. i will probably make a mini jersey once the new season's ones are finalised (and once i've worked through my craft to-do list a bit more).
crafts/creativity really is a hell of one's own making, i can't stop myself from starting new projects all the time. i immediately started something new once i'd finished this, despite all the things i still need to do.
also props to mtl for choosing one of the most self-assured team names i think i've heard, though their odds are certainly better than the habs, so i can't say i blame them

redesigned the dragons de rouen logo bc the og is probably one of my least favourites in the ligue magnus. i tried to keep certain elements like the eyes, and some stuff is more similar to the previous logo from like the 90s, like the ears.
the og logo for comparison
(sorry about the weird transparency, i can't find a good version of the logo for the life of me)
i think mine is quite american looking, but ligue magnus teams and european ice hockey teams in general tend to stick to an american style anyway. i might do bordeaux as well considering their logo is also one of my least favourites.
on the note of my favourite ligue magnus logos, i will probably make a ranking of logos and/or jerseys at some point. i also think that the rouen logo could bear to be a bit bigger on the jerseys.

habs bear (or - as suggested by @eskchester - samuel montembearlt)
how often do i start a project thinking 'this will be a nice easy break from life', and it ends up taking far more time and energy than neccessary? far too often. i think at this point i need to accept crafts are maybe not as relaxing as i have been led to believe. anyway, i have decided that being an adult is actually about making little clothes for your toys whenever you want

i made a mini nottingham panthers scarf for my wall as my first proper attempt at intarsia (and my first time steam blocking knitting). i think it went pretty well overall though i wouldn't be keen to show off the reverse lol

Out of curiosity, if GB were ever to host worlds, what cities would you put it in?
My first thought was Dundee - somehow bring in a temporary extension to the stands or something 😅 then I thought of Murrayfield - NHL players i am inviting you to Experience Brick-like Boards… 🤗
------------------
However, realistic options are limited:
Must be olympic sized ice, so no Manchester.
2. IIHF Championship Regulations Section 4.1.1. says the venue must allow for “high-quality TV production capabilities and a premium look to the events.” This further eliminates at least Fife, Dundee, Coventry and Guildford. (sorry) {footnote 1}
3. Section 4.1.3 says all game and practice rinks must be exclusively used by the world championships, even on days with no games… This rules out big music venues which have previously hosted hockey e.g. Wembley, Nynex/M.E.N/AO Arena. The loss of revenue from concerts would be too much to even consider it. I wonder if Sheffield might be unable to host for the same reason, given they can’t use the big arena for all the Steelers' home Elite League games…?
4. Section 4.2.2. says there needs to be capacity for each team (so 6 to 8 teams) to have fully-equipped dressing rooms, showers, toilets etc. {footnote 2} Section 4.2.9 outlines how much space must be available for media personnel and broadcasters (a lot). I clearly am not familiar with the behind the scenes of the rinks, but I’m fairly certain it would be a struggle for Glasgow to provide this. On the other hand, Belfast, Cardiff and Nottingham all have previous experience (and the required facilities) of hosting several teams for large tournaments.
------------------
So basically it seems we’re down to Belfast, Cardiff, Nottingham - with an outside chance of Sheffield and Glasgow.
Of these, Nottingham is the notable first-choice, having successfully hosted WC Divison 1A in 2023 (and sharing medical and media personnel with GB).
I’m not sure if there is a firm attendance minimum, but I think Cardiff might be a bit small attendance-wise (3,100) to be a preferred choice?
Belfast’s facilities, plus Dundonald as a practice rink seems a good option. Definitely giving "a premium look" (but someone more qualified than me would have to evaluate political implications)
------------------
If hosting the top division, two arenas are required which must be “not further than three hours travelling time apart (arena to arena)” section 4.1.2. In 2023, Tampere and Riga co-hosted, which is only under 3 hours if taking a plane (?). This precadent means that if one of the cities is Nottingham, the other could be Cardiff/Belfast OR it could in theory be somewhere in Europe (with a direct flight to Birmingham and a large ice arena...................)
------------------
{footnote 1} remember the whole CHL debacle - “Should the Flames become national champions, the place will be allocated to the second-place team as Guildford does not meet the Champion Hockey League’s requirements”...... [1, 2]
{footnote 2} when Solway hosts world junior championships, they use the additional dressing rooms of the football stadium next door!
-------------------
Thanks for the ask!!!! as you can probably tell I had a bit too much fun taking things a bit too literally 😅. It’s an interesting thing to think about - where would you put it yourself?

🧼 x 💀 HOCKEY AU
Ghost plays for Manchester Storm, and Soap plays for Glasgow Clan.
At joint matches they always compete with each other and get into fights.
After some time, John was transferred to the Manchester team as a result of an exchange.
And now how should John play with someone he can’t stand?
#eihl in my first person shooter? more likely than you'd think#i love that they're on their local teams :)#cod mwii
