So, rewatching Beauty and the Beast (original animated movie), and Be Our Guest has a line that change the tone of the original encounter with the enchantress, one that I never noticed without captions.
Ten years we've been rusting
Yep, ten years of rusting, and when you take into account that the rose likely begins wilting in the last 6-12 months leading to the prince's 21st birthday, you get a 10 or 11 year old prince turning away the enchantress. That's right, the enchantress cursed a child for following the stranger danger rule.

To be quite fair, i feel like every time i press the boop button, the boops sounds like squeaky hammers, despite being silent, and i must press more to create a symphony of squeaks.
Within seconds my notification feed started lagging from the amount of boops. I’m proud of y’all

Pssst! For anyone wanting to get rid of the google ai overview, just type -"ai overview" at the end of your search. -ai works to filter out generative ai images when searching in images as well. The - is an exclusion filter, don't be afraid to use it!
got a major pest problem this year actually

A very quick sketch of a possible Dustox redesign. A fair bit more luna moth, with a nod to their fuzziness along its top, and the tail with an eyespot to resemble a (shiny) wurmple. The antennae are flatter and fuzzy-ish, and I added the luna moth's dark stripe at the top of the wings, and another set of eyespots. And no more weird eyes! Give dustox proper compound eyes! it could have been so marketable, little bug catchers bragging how their dustox has the softer fuzz, while another argues that their scared off a poochyena with its eyespots. maybe it would have been called the powdery moth pokemon instead of poison or toxic.
what is ur Least favorite pokemon.... Curious
I dislike Dustox very, very much.

Jazz Fenton, and her guard Freidrich Knightson, who are handling Arkham. No one knows if Frighty is meant to keep her safe from Gotham and Arkham's residents, or them safe from her after she made Crane cry.
Meanwhile, Jason is dealing with a new child gang, led by a tiny menance named Eleanor Fenton and her older brother Dante. He'd say Ellie has Scary Dog privilege thanks to her brother, but he also saw her bite through a gun pointed at her gang, so he's not sure which is the scary dog of the two.
When it comes to light that there is, in fact, a fourth Fenton in Gotham, the Bats get suspicious, and in a typical disregard for things like privacy, break into his apartment to investigate. (They had tried a digital investigation, first. That computer is still smoking.)
They did not expect former teen vigilante who retired for college.
Or the protective partners. (Who knew the hero Hologlyph was dating the villain Foxglove? Or that they were so aggressive in defending Fenton?)
Or the older sister threatening a verbal evisceration of all their identities.
Or the younger sister, chewing through a batarang with a feral grin.
Or the older brother, who has no issue with being labelled a villain, again.
Batman agrees to back off and leave the Fentons in peace when Constantine gets on his case. Those are his adopted grandkids, and he will not help out if War, Time, and Sleep take this as a threat to their hauntlings.
Write below a Batfamily meets Danny Fenton story but choose the wildest relationship that you can think of that isn’t adoption or a romantic relationship
For instance:
- breaking into a building for a drug bust but they got the wrong building number and broke into Danny’s apartment.
- gets met over and over because Condiment King of all people continuously kidnaps him for plots
- was brought to the GCPD for wrestling Killer Croc at 3am high as a kite over a new fear gas drug that’s been making its rounds through Gotham.
- accidentally smacked the coffee out of Danny’s hands while catching a perp.

There's a beat of silence as Maddie processes the difference in Danny's appearance. Said silence drags on as Jack comes up to see what was taking so long.
After explaining to Jack what Danny said, a silent conversation is carried out, a skill most parents seem to have before...
"Two months no video games, you are to come immediately after school for the next three, and you, Sam, and Tucker will all be training. With me. We will also be going over our original hypothesis on ghosts, and you will be sharing what you've learned so far so we fix what we got wrong. Honestly, Danny. Why didn't you just tell us you were Phantom? We're scientists, if you had told us, we could have fixed our hypothesis sooner."
Danny's ghost side is bleeding over to his living side. With Danny becoming more and more ghostly, he's come across a problem he did not foresee being one.
Ghosts form based on how they feel, on what is Right for them.
Danny, a trans teenager who definitely hasn't gotten any surgeries or even started HRT (he's nervous, okay?! What if male pattern baldness runs in his dad or mom's family and he's the one who gets it, huh?!), wakes up to find that he no longer has tits.
Also, he's starting to grow scruff on his face.
But his fully supportive parents have no idea.
It is, Danny thinks, the strangest thing in the world to wear a binder with nothing for it to bind, or to hide shaving cream and razers in his backpack to shave his face in secret.
Which is why he has no idea how to explain himself when his mom walks in while he's shirtless and tossing the binder on the bed.
She stares at him.
He stares at her.
She narrows her eyes.
He starts to sweat.
She crosses her arms.
"Ghosts did it," Danny blurts, unthinking.

Since I have acquired more followers, hello, I offer a sneak peek at the first chapter of my Danny Phantom fic, Duct Tape and Ecto-Paint, and yes, it will be in journal format, because i can't write action scenes. Also, since we have next to no canon dates, I'm making Danny a summer's end child. and maybe a bit of Phantom and Fenton being two separate entities at first.

They're working on the portal again. Supposedly, this time they'll get it to work, unlike the last three times. i don't why is Jazz said she'd make mac and cheese for dinner, since the hot dogs are waging war between the brands. Here's hoping being 14 will change things.

It's working now. why didn't they notice me?
Turns out, they put the on switch on the inside of the portal. i wish i hadn't let sam talk me into that picture
I missed a couple of days, got the date wrong. Side effect affect of the whole electrocuted thing. i can't be dead, right?
maybe now they'll focus on me and jazz?

The Wayne's property is large, and despite the intermittent attempts, only those invited by the family have seen just how large it actually is. It was decently well known among Gotham's elites that Bruce's second son had a grave on the property, for the family to mourn. (That said grave had a headstone with chalkboard paint and a current cause of death listed as 'Stole the Last Alfred Cookie' is unknown to said elites.)
What went unknown was the second grave. Hidden in a clearing of trees on a small hill, Gotham's haze gave way. Every couple of weeks, the dense smog would drift apart, and pale starlight would light up a small gazebo, turning the ceiling into a vibrant star map of the northern hemisphere.
Within the gazebo, a grave sat, simple in its design, adorned with the constellation of Orion. Above the stars of the Belt was a small message: May the stars guide you to rest, young King.
The Wayne's property is full of secrets untold, of Bats and Birds, and perhaps, a tired King Phantom in living guise.
Don’t imagine Danny who just realized why he feels unfulfilled by saving Amity.
Don’t imagine him trying to psych himself up into telling Jazz, Sam, and Tucker.
Don’t imagine him getting the news that he’s the ghost king
Don’t imagine him realizing that he can’t explore the stars because the weight of that crown falls heavily on his shoulders.
Don’t imagine how heartbroken he would be every night that he was too exhausted to watch the stars.
But imagine the usual circumstances of the Justice League summoning the Ghost King, something about Darkseid.
Imagine how they would’ve been prepared to give souls to Pariah Dark only to see a sickly child ghost, in both senses of the word, in the summoning circle.
(Obsession neglect is the same as starvation for a ghost, after all.)
Imagine him being terrified that the Justice League found out about Dan only to realize that he’s needed to save the day. Again.
Imagine him realizing he’s in space and demanding that he gets to spend time there in exchange.
(Jazz had to drill self advocacy into him at some point.)
Imagine this tiny child, one that Dark swears is the King and millennias old, easily defeating Darkseid on his own because Darkseid is alive, and could never compare to Pariah or Dan.
Imagine the Justice League occasionally seeing this dead child floating outside the watchtower, occasionally doing outside repairs without being asked to.
Imagine the Justice League watching this child slowly get healthier everytime that he shows up to exist in the stars.
Maybe one day, they’ll even get to give him flowers, since Zatanna said that it’s a Ghost Culture Thing, and they want to be hospitable to this world endingly powerful royal.
Imagine how surprised Danny would be. He might even let it slip that he was never mourned, that no one noticed he died except the ones there to see it.
Imagine how heartbroken the leaguers would be, especially Bruce because his own kids have died and he couldn’t imagine them being unmourned.
Maybe, just maybe, imagine Danny getting a grave right beside Jason’s, with stars engraved on the tombstone.
Imagine how relieved Danny would be.

I have been thinking a dangerous thing to do before morning coffee and the sarcophagus of forvever sleep sounds like it had to be a collaboration between Clockwork and Nocturne. So I thought Time/Sleep/War polycule with halfa son.
The grief of losing their ghostling had driven Pariah mad, and in his blinding rage, the halfa population was massacred. To stop the Observants from attempting regicide, Clockwork and Nocturne created a sacrophagus to keep their husband.
As it so often does, the passing time faded memories of why the Ghost King had gone mad, painting him a senseless tyrant instead of a despondent father.
A ripple across screens, a shift in time's progression, and a new halfa. Time carefully pulling strings, Sleep keeping watch to ensure a restful nap (for that's all they ever seemed to amount to, his poor son always rushing, always busy with something)
An arrogance unchecked rousing the slumbering king, a desperate child forcing him back into his prison, but the magic doesn't take hold. Now awake, having seen what his husbands saw, Pariah would not sleep through his lost son's new life.
Phantom was a new hero, one who seemed to wander a fair bit. Batman had already tried to find anything about Phantom, to very little success. Historical records of a teenager appearing to help before vanishing, allusions to a child of Kronos grumbling about timestreams, whispers of a young man whose rage was like a glacier, slow and unstoppable once it starts to move. The Lanterns had records of entire ships frozen solid, Phantom having been the last sighted individual before they became glacial space debris. Constantine and Raven both vouched for Phantom, which was why he was a part of the team, but there were still too many questions without answers...
The Justice League was heavily outnumbered, and while they could win, it would not be without heavy civilian cost. At least, that was their original thought, until Phantom Wailed for his father (?) and a massive Lazarus green rift ripped open above him, allowing a ghostly warlord with a Crown of Fire through, a skeletal army marching silently in the warlord's wake.

More of a series AU rec, but the Transcendence AU is a lot of fun. Seiya and Phenyx are both large contributors to the AU, and Haberdasher's got a good series as well. I'll have to figure out which group of tabs is my GF fic cluster for non-TAU fic recs. curse my need to have 3k+ tabs of ao3
If anyone has gravity falls fic recs please respond to this post with them. I shall read then when I’m done with the series

Reformed Pariah Dark, with adopted Danny. Look, you try doing the paperwork to rule an infinite set of realms. Let's see how long before you go mad from having to mediate territory disputes and annexation paperwork. Phantom refused the crown that he earned, and instead fixated on a bit of star-dusted paperwork (look, it had an accurate diagram of the Cassiopia constellation and all the astral bodies within. What did you expect?)
In exchange for regulations on how many ghosts can come through the portal to cause problems, and a better system for keeping track of who just wants to visit the living rralm for non-problem-causing reasons, Danny is doing a decent chunk of paperwork, including aiding with sorting summons. Bonus, he gets all the space stationary his heart and core could ever desire!
The Justice League was too late. The cult had successfully completed their summoning ritual, and a figure began to emerge from the crackling green rift in the air
A teenage boy in a black jumpsuit, holding a clipboard and a pen.
The figure barely seemed to pay attention and just launched into a rehearsed speech, tone bored. “Thank you for summoning the Ghost King. Due the influx of summonings, he is unavailable at the moment. I’m Phantom, and I’ll be serving as your intercessor for the time being. I am authorized to act on His Majesty’s behalf, but any larger scale actions may have a short wait time before they can go through—just a few decades at most.” His voice then picked up, tone casual. “So… whatcha looking for?”
Then he did a double take, the chaotic scene he’s appeared in finally seeming to register in his mind.
“…Err, which ones of y’all specifically performed the summoning? I need it for the file.”

Plothole Fix-it won! Gotta say, was not expecting that. I'll get started on the list of plotholes too address, both ones I see (hello powers popping up and never being used again) and any that other people notice. If anyone has a list already compiled or anything, feel free to let me know. I will probably also being doing the Ecto-Apprentice, because I do have a rough draft for a prologue and oc made for it.
I will likely be posting the chapters and extras to tumblr, as well as ao3, so keep an eye out. The plothole fix-it will likely be called Duct Tape and Ecto-Paint while the ecto-apprentice will most likely be Spooks, Spectres, and Other Ecto-Sciences.
Finally, I will be messing around with the GIW, especially for DTaEP, mostly because I imagine the GIW being an investigative group led a fair bit astray by confirmation bias-laden "research" by the Fenton parents pointing to ghost being malicious.
yes, i will be using the non-american spelling of spectre, i like it better
seriously, any spare eyes informing me of plotholes I may miss would be greatly appreciated.
There is a part of me, that i do not wish to acknowledge, that is demanding I rewatch all of Danny Phantom, and write a sort of fix-it adjacent story, or a cohesive underlying plotline, or Jack and Maddie having an ectobiologist apprentice that finds out about the accident (you can't tell me they don't have cameras down in the lab. the only difference between science and screwing around with forces that govern the world is documentation). This would of course, require ne loosening my grip on the ADHD hyperfixation I have maintained since second grade, a journal to plot in, at least three tabs of notes, pulling up the wiki, and remembering how to keep characters consistent.
The question is, do I want to listen to that part of me? Do I want my first actual fic on ao3 to be danny phantom?
also, i would be using a lot of fanon material as well, such as cores and death scars
reblog for wider sample pool please?
#ruse commentary#danny phantom#dp#fresh from the desk#time to binge some cartoons with a conspiracy notebook again#gotta say it's been a while since i've done that#here's hoping the adhd fixation doesn't burn out before i get at least three chapters for each!

There is an adoption attempt. Danny has to keep explaining that the blob ghosts don't do domestication to Damian. It does not stop Damian's attempts at adopting one of the blobs. It becomes a recurring habit, and how Danny finds out Damian is Robin. No one tries to adopt Danny, even if he gives off retired cape vibes, due partially to three glorious rants on fruitloops and a lack of respecting a person desire not to be adopted or forced into a family role. He is however tring to figure out when Alfred got added to his emergency contacts. He's not complaining though. Alfred reminds him of Clockwork and his equally cryptic tea companion... Ancients damnit, CW had his beau keep an eye on Danny in this dimension. At least he's not been adopted. He will take sensible hands-off supervision over adoption any day!
Danny is a coffee shop owner in Gotham and is repeatedly attacked by the GIW. Danny can (mostly) handle his own but he’s in the Bats’ city.
The help is greatly appreciated. The vigilantes have incorporated his small business into their patrol path. They even stop in to grab some coffee or a pastry. He thought he’d get to know this cities heroes as Phantom but instead they become friends with Fenton
#ruse drabbles#fresh from the desk#dcxdp#despite being called Clockwork beau he and Alfred are just gossip buddies#something about heroes who don't know how to take a break#Danny's fruitloops and adoption rants have gone viral#as has his rant on joker not being a true clown#There are no attempts at adoption or courting Danny thankfully#The courting would have been a bit awkward seeing as he is happily married twice over#(his rings are on a chain so he doesn't lose them to the batter (everlasting trio time!))#Danny enjoys the DC universe as there are plenty of capes and no friutloops trying to adopt him.#He even gets a trusted adult who can adult! Who can teach him TAXES!

if folks really wanna drop an immediate adoption bait, could always play the Reveal Gone Wrong card, but have it Good Fentons, GIW bugging the Fenton home and finding out Danny is a halfa. Dangerous entity capable of changing appearance to look human. Danny ends up on the run, both his appearances all over the media and labelled a threat, unable to hide in the Ghost Zone. Ends up in Gotham, desperate, injured, and his very existence labelled a threat to humanity.
That way, you get scared hurt child running from a shady govt organization that has published papers about dissecting these ghosts and plans dug up about how to get the most use. Maybe an internal document goes over how to get more energy from the ghosts by leaving the core so they try to regenerate, or how humans can be turned to ghosts to ensure a steady supply (trafficking subplot the Bats have been investigating when a child winds up at the mansion?)
Every day i read a post where people write that “Bruce Wayne has an adoption problem” or that Danny is adoption bait on the first second of seeing him, not even knowing if he has a want of vengeance and a sad backstory and parallels to Bruce, and every day I want to softly cry in a corner.
#ruse commentary#ruse drabbles#very much agree with bones#please give more flavor than vanilla adoption bait bc appearance matches

I'd go with pressure for Danny when he wants to be Spooky/Eldritch, and double down by making him an ancient of space and the oceans' depths after all, stars shine above the waves and deep in the trenches. The air pressure decreases, and it gets harder to breathe, like scaling a mountain, and that's if he's too excited to rein in his aura. When he's mad, the pressure increases, dragging on your body, the sea pulling to unknown depths as bioluminescent stars flicker just past your peripherals, a biting cold sinking in as you are reminded that the ocean is just as unforgiving as the void of space, reminding you just how small you are in comparison. More than a few cultists summoning the King with world domination plans have been admitted to hospitals for issues relating to rapid air pressure changes.
Human Danny is just shy of uncanny valley. From the corner of your eye, he's not quite right, but head on, he seems perfectly normal. His shadow, however, is not normal. Those with less than pleasant intentions claim it watches them. Wes has seen it move freely, though no one believes him. Likewise, Sam and Tucker never tell Danny about the times his reflection shows Phantom. After all, Danny's just a normal human.
I couldn't resist when I saw a fun idea to play with.
By the way, when ghosts and Ancients appear, should there be any visual effects and sensations? Like Frostbite? A drop in temperature? Surfaces becoming crusted with ice?
For example, a headcanon on Danny who is a cosmic Ancient, an eldritch, a cryptid, a ghostly entity. How would all of this affect him showing up next to a human?
(By the way?)
Oooh 😯 Should there be? Probably not, it would take away the whole invisibility sneak thing they got going on.
But in charged situations? If they want to tip over a bit more to spooky? If it’s just spooky for humans but it’s actually more of a ghost greeting? Hell yeah, I’ll ascribe to it. It can even be tweaked with the emotion they want to enter with, like if they’re pissed or if they are trying to calm things down or if it’s relatively neutral. Coin toss/dice roll on whether it’s different for all, similar based on core type, same for type but application is different based on strength, or just boiled down to general ghostliness.
(Or is this all based off auras and if so, can ghosts physically manipulate theirs and what’s the effects of that? Or does Everyone have one and ghosts/effected people are the only ones who can see/manipulate theirs? Oof, idk. Too many thoughts in the head!)
For one we know/could squeeze into the idea naturally from the show: Clockwork. As Ancient of Time, Clockwork likely messes with time on arrival. It’s probably the least hassle for Clockwork if it’s pausing time than anything else, hence the medallions when the ghost goes to people to pull them out of the pause. (And easiest to keep track of/not melt peoples minds with.)
For Danny… If it’s not a drop in temp because of the whole ghostly/ice core phenomenon and assuming you don’t want two of the same with Frostbite… and you want to go cosmic/space… maybe there’s auditory/speaking issues, like gaps and suppression, or a slight feeling of breathlessness because space is a vacuum? (Isn’t space cold too? Could be an interesting bait and switch if people kept thinking Ice and he pulls up one day with the power of the sun and manipulation of space.) Or if Danny is made an Ancient of Space it could also be feeling an odd pressure, like if you’re temporarily feeling too big or small in your body. Or or! Feeling gravity more or less than what you should be at the time.
If not a space/cosmic thing and you’re going with Phantom being a spirit of Protection then I would have it add a layer of feelings/reactions (specifically not changing any other feelings or otherwise altering minds) based on where the human would fall on his scale of morals: too much on the bad side and you feel trepidation and apprehension, in the good side you may feel safety, courage, or whatever. (The human’s placement on the scale would not be a conscious thing and the deciding factor is more multifaceted as Phantom grows. So long as Phantom is strong and resolute in his morals, you could probably use the reactions to gauge other people.)
Now, Danny-as-human Danny? I’m a sucker for either he’s just Some Guy or Predator Instinct, but it’s not sudden or a big rush of adrenaline. It’s something uncanny for sure because you look at the guy and you don’t know what’s wrong because visually there’s nothing wrong, but the vibes are off. (😅 scary dog vibes but the dude is like a retriever or shepherd or something — scares off the creeps at college parties and he’s long since stopped questioning why he’s invited to the parties. If he’s aware of it, he’d be the guy that sits next to or walks by a girl and then reveals that she was being stalked by a creep but it looks like he’s gone now, so have a nice day/makes sure you are safe and aware)
Like a Big Cat: it’s a predator and can kill you easily and maybe without meaning to, but also… they’re big kitties and you see videos of humans booping their snoots, holding their murder mittens, petting them and whatever. Those zookeeper-class of folks who understand the risks and works with the animals instead of against them. Some people can’t shake off that prey instinct but others are there despite it.
Hit or Miss whether aliens/super powered folks will feel it (looking at the Justice League for crossover fans) for the Human-Danny, but I’d say it’s rare for anyone to be immune to Phantom Effects.
Hope this was to your satisfaction cause this tickled my brain nicely
