I am both lucky and endlessly frustrated that I’m not allowed to fill the choir loft with fuzzy creatures. I shall just have to live vicariously through you, your furry children, and my children students.
That pun. I just… I’m bowing out now. We’ve reached the pinnacle of human innovation. That was it.
Tumblr media
Well, hey, if you’re ever in desperate need, I can always bring the boys by for an emergency dose of puppy love. Just say the word.
The contender’s left the ring, and it goes to Siskoff by default! The crowd’s gone wild. Who’s got what it takes to put the PUNisher on the ropes?!

Huh. Instagram. I’ll look into it.
Tumblr media
Not a fan of photographs?
You like that, check out Twitter. Same kind of deal.
Tumblr media
Oh, nah, I don’t mind pictures. Just nothing special when it comes to taking them. Don’t have that artistic angle game down, you know?

Aw, man, if I could, I would. Not sure how a kitten would get along with a couple pitbulls, though. And a werewolf.
Tumblr media
I’ll pass it around at work, though! Could put up a flier, maybe - you got any pictures? Pictures never hurt. Who can say no to those big Puss in Boots eyes, right?
It’s the middle of kitten season. If you’ve ever wanted a companion of your own, the clinic has more than a few friends who would love to be a part of your home.

Mammals of course. They get do behavioral conditioning and such. Basically it’s an excuse to have them volunteer at the humane society. And to look at puppies.
I know it’s a culinary technique but the idea of doing something that violent to kale. What do the girls say… I have lost the ability to can.
Tumblr media
Yes I’m sure orcas pulverize kale as well. They’re metal like that.
Awesome! They had a pile of little ones when I went by last week. Like, little little, all paws. Sweetest things. Almost walked out with a sister for Tobey and Pete. And a brother. And another sister... I swear, someday, I’ll just take them all home. Someday, when I don’t have a landlord. And a damage deposit.
A moment of silence for your cannery. It’s a tough industry.
Getting your greens is totally metal. Especially kale, rock on with the dietary iron.

Actually, yeah. There’s nothing that feeds the ego like reading things other people write about you…at least not these days.
Tumblr media
I don’t know, I hear Instagram’s pretty great for an ego boost. So long as you’re good with a camera, which rules me right out. But if you’re into that kind of thing - give it a shot, maybe. Might be fun!

Metal... box? Like
Tumblr media
Oh, wow, this is like Zayde with that Acer. Old people, gotta love ‘em. It’s pretty wild, yeah! You find anything good?
Have you ever typed your name into this metal box? It’s incredible.

Oh it’s been wonderful! The 4th graders did so well with the airplanes. They all want to be birds now.
See you can just sneak the vegetables in the blender too. Won’t have to lift a finger.
Tumblr media
Point of order - humans have been omnivores for quite a long time and I won’t have you lump us in with orcas that way. Though for development purposes, meat, or at least animal protein can be very helpful.
Nice! Always a classic. What’s up next?
Sure, I pulverize some kale now and then, smoothify some spinach. Get my superfoods going on. Nothing like a good steak, though. Hey, orcas are pretty sweet - I’m not super offended by the lumping. Are there wereorcas? That would be cool. A whole other order of weird, but cool.

Decaf and getting ahead on grading, those are my secrets. Helps to not have to do a 48-hour shift on the regular though. Aside from vigils and airport novels.
Your body gets tired of hot wings. How about some vegetables, Mr. health professional.
Tumblr media
Ah, you get used to those. How’re classes going? Mom was asking how those lesson plans turned out for you.
I do vegetables! And fruit, I know my way around a blender. But protein’s where it’s at. Gotta keep the inner carnivore satisfied.

The Corner
Gym, est. 1974, Hope Gardens
The Corner’s in yours; that’s the motto, and that’s how it is. The place was put together by Harry Groth, local heavyweight, after he retired from the ring. Until Harry passed a few years ago, it was a real consummate boxer’s gym. By fighters, for fighters, not much more than weights, gloves, jump ropes and bags. And bellowing over it all, the man himself - a local legend, less for his cut-short career than his booming warmth and generous heart.
That legacy’s lasted, but things have changed. They’ve had to. The old guard is thinning, and with costs being what they are… the gym’s wound up diversifying its offerings, in the hope of drawing in more members. It’s working pretty well, so far. Go on, check out the schedule. See what catches your eye.
Since Groth’s death, his brother, Abner, has taken over the reins. Abs, he was a cutman for decades; if anybody takes a knock against the gym’s ropes, he can take care of it. But he’s not a boxer. He hires coaches with the help of Sam Siskoff, his grand-nephew - one of Harry’s students. Sam drops in pretty regularly, around that busy nurse’s schedule. Still a damn decent southpaw. Just like his Zayde.
Harry was known to waive membership dues for struggling fighters, and teenagers who could use something to do. Some of those kids couldn’t afford your usual rec centre courses; others, like his grandson, were too short on confidence to get into sports anywhere else. The Corner was different. Abs maintains the policy, and regularly rents the gym space out to teen support groups and such. Does some good, helps pay the bills.
Alongside a well-stocked weight room, the practice ring, and a few newly installed cardio machines, the gym also provides coaching services and a few classes. There’s drop-in courses in boxing, self defence, and yoga. A jiu jitsu school takes up residence once a week, as well.

Indeed, though I can’t speak to the last bit. Only rooibos for me if I can help it.
Tumblr media
Oh we can’t let him teach you to cook. Then nothing will stop you.
Hey, whatever fills the tank and gets the job done. Gotta respect getting by on decaf, that takes a kind of strength I just do not have.
Except my totally crazy, mostly responsible, full-time professional adult schedule, TM. And making real food is awesome and all, but like they say - ain’t nobody got time for that. Besides, who gets tired of hot wings?

Work hard, eat hard. I see.
It would be an absolute honor, Sam. The kids are my favorite. It makes me mushy, I know, but I love the questions. Watching them learn. And the food. It all comes back to the food.
Tumblr media
Do not cast aspersions on your poor children. They are well intentioned and devoid of malice.
Work hard, eat hard, drink coffee ‘til your kidneys vibrate. That’s the way.
Great! You can bet on plenty of all that, as always. I might even be helping out with the food part - dad keeps threatening to teach me to cook, or something.
Yeah, yeah. They deserve every chew toy and beef shank they get, and that’s a fact.

Oh that’s not your fault. They’re in health care. They should know better.
Tumblr media
Oh yes! Chag kasher v’sameach! Though I’m a bit early.
But they’re so cute when they’re happy. Positive reinforcement is far more effective than negative.
Yeah, but they don’t. You want to see something wild? Forget Animal Planet. Come by for the overnighters vs. a family-size bags of doritos. Just keep a safe distance, or you might lose a finger.
L’chaim, Sister. Think you’ll be able to make it out for a Seder? We’ll be heading to Second Night at the Temple, like usual. Tuesday, 6PM. $35, or by donation - anything past costs is headed towards a new mural project, up on Elliston. It’s gonna be great, the kids are stoked.
They’re cute all the time. And they know it, believe me.
