I Need You Ch. 3
Austin!ElvisxOCÂ
Word count: 1.2kÂ
Prompt: Beverly Sherman is a young girl who had a military family that was forced to move all over the country. When her Father is sent to Germany for work, her and her family follows along. There she meets Elvis Presley who takes a liking to her. From there the rest is history.Â
TW: Age gap relations between minor and adult. Angst.Â
A/N: Hey yâall. As some have seen in my last post I wanted to bring attention to the age gap relationship. As this is the main factor for the angst between the two main characters, I have said that this is based off of Priscillaâs life story. I understand the uncomfy-ness of it all but I can assure everyone it moves on quickly from the relationship to a jump in time when she is older. Unfortunately, my own family has a similar age gap from the same period so this whole age gap doesnât shock me as much since my grandma had my dad when she was 17. Hope everyone understands the miscommunication on my part.Â
Chapter 3: Little SisterÂ
âBut dad please!âÂ
âBeverly, no! Your mother and I have made it very clear to you. What does a grown man want to do with a 14 year old girl anyway!âÂ
I had asked my parents permission to go see Elvis again the next day.Â
Clearly, it wasnât going well.Â
I broke the ice when my mother was recapping the night before.Â
âDebbie just made such a good casserole! Remind me the next time weâre over to ask for her recipe! Bev sweetie, who was it that you were with last night? You seemed to have had a good time.â Really my mother had asked, and I was just telling the truth.Â
My parents hadnât formally banned us from supporting Elvis like many of my friends' parents did back in Texas. It was in Austin that he burst onto our radars. Like everyone else, me and all my friends listened to his records and swooned at his dreamy voice. That was until, he made controversy for shaking his hips and having outrageous hair on live television.Â
Once we moved to Germany, Elvis was the talk of the town. My parents found him a little more respectable after he too came to Germany. They saw him as fulfilling his patriotic duty. Still, this wasnât to say they were his biggest fan. Definitely at this moment, they were Anti-Elvis.Â
âWell we just talk daddy! Iâm lonely! Heâs lonely! It really is nothing more than that. I just need a friend and we both understand each other! You guys know how Iâve struggled to keep friendships since moving, well, my whole life really and now youâre holding me back from making any friends at all!âÂ
âHoney, you only met him once, how do you know his intentions at all? Logistically this seems a little strange.â My mother said, looking at me as if I had ten heads.Â
âLook,â my father sighs âwe just donât want you getting hurt. Youâve been doing so well in school recently, I just donât want you throwing that all away for a boy you just met, let alone a famous one. Who knows what youâre getting into, there could be so much that goes wrong.âÂ
I understand where they are coming from, I really do. But at this point I made such a good connection with Elvis, I really want to see him again. It was innocent. Plus, I wish they could see my side. It would be any girl's dream to go to Elvisâ house and spend even an hour with him.Â
My father sighed once again, taking a sip of his cocktail he would make himself after work.Â
âAlright, you can goâ my ears perked up âunder one condition.â Iâll take anything at this point to go see him, I donât care about any condition. âYou complete your schoolwork for the day and you come home no later than 10 P.M.âÂ
I squealed in delight and shot up out of my seat. I hugged my parents. âI wonât let you guys down, I promise!
Shortly after, my parents went to bed. I snuck into the kitchen and grabbed the paper that Elvis had given me with his number written down on it. I pick up the phone dialing and hear the tone ring.Â
âHello?â A voice I donât recognize says on the other side of the phone.Â
âUm, hi? This is Beverly Sherman. Elvis gave me this number last night.âÂ
âOh, Just give me one moment.â The voice then became slightly muffled. âE, the girl from last night is on the line waiting for you!âÂ
My heart skipped a beat. The thought of Elvis coming to the phone and possibly even talking about me to his friends.Â
âBeverly?â His warm drawl said across the telephone.Â
âHi Elvis.âÂ
âHi.â He said back as a chuckle came following. âIâm happy you called me. Iâve been thinking about you all day today.â I felt my heart skip a beat. He was thinking of me? This has to be a dream. I half wanted to wake my mother and ask her to pinch me.Â
âMe too Elvis, I talked to my parents today. They said yes! I can see you.â
âThatâs great darlinâ! When is that going to be? I canât wait to see your pretty little face again. I told ya I canât stop thinking about you.âÂ
Every word he said had my stomach twisting into a thousand butterflies. I wrapped the telephone line around my fingers and told him about the conditions my parents gave for me to see him. Talking to him just was so easy. It felt as though we had known each other for years.Â
âWell Iâm just glad they said yes. I canât wait to see you. Itâs getting late though little one, I wouldnât want you getting in trouble for staying up too late.âÂ
I glanced at the clock, noticing the time. How could an entire hour have gone by? Guess that shows how talking just comes easy between the two of us.Â
âYouâre right. Iâll see you tomorrow then, right?âÂ
âOf course darlinâ, I canât wait.â
We said our goodbyes and I went into my room. How am I going to sleep tonight? Iâm just too excited for what tomorrow brings.Â
At Elvisâ house only about 10 minutes away from the young girls, he smiled as he put the phone down. Taking a seat next to his father on the couch of their German home.Â
âAre you sure about all of this Elvis? You know how this looks right? Especially if it gets out to any of the press.â His father warned him. Elvis just nodded. He knew what he was doing was not one that was of the best taste, especially since he was under the publicâs watchful eye.Â
âI know daddy, I donât know, sheâs a nice girl is all and well, itâs refreshing talking to her.âÂ
Vernon nodded, unsure of what to say.Â
âJust⊠be careful is all I have to say. You have a lot on your shoulders. You donât need something like this to ruin your career.âÂ
Elvis was left sat on the couch where he had started to think about if he was doing something he shouldnât have.Â

didnât think i needed to stress the importance of how this story is based off of pricillaâs book. itâs all in good fun and obviously it progresses as the story grows. Obviously things were different in 1960 so đ my bad but just wanted to put a general note for everyone. I didnât make it an insert fic because of this reason in the first place lol. If it really is this triggering i can change it but i just wasnât sure on how to approach the topic. I also am not inserting smut between the two characters for very obvious reasons but i digress. Still hope you guys enjoy, iâve found their story fascinating and wanted to tell it in a different way than already told

A/N: Chapter 2!!! I wanted to get at least two parts out on the same day since I have most of this fic written. I hope you guys enjoy it! Also forgive any errors, it's late :)
Chapter 2: All Shook UpÂ
I feel every single muscle in my body tense up. All the girls in school would gossip about him. Whoâs father allegedly worked on base with him and who had caught a glimpse of him leaving the base. If he was dating anyone or whoâs mother let them stand outside of his home to get an autograph. Here he was. Looking straight up at me. I could hardly believe it.Â
âHello Miss Sherman, Itâs a pleasure to meet you.â I took his hand in mine that he had extended out to me, shaking it.Â
âThe pleasures all mine Mr. Presley.â I tried to act normal even though I felt like a glowing red target was on my back as my cheeks heated up.Â
I was a fan of his, thatâs for sure. He was just as handsome as his pictures and the films I had seen him in. I had a few of his records in my collection back home.Â
âPlease, call me Elvis.â He smiled at me. That sent butterflies through my stomach and straight to my heart. I began to think of all the girls from school who would kill to be in my shoes. They would never believe a word I said if I ever told them I met the biggest idol in our generation. âTake a seat Miss, get comfortable.â He scooted over to make room for me to take a seat next to him.Â
I nervously sat and felt my hands become sweaty. I looked at Judy with my eyes wide as she took a seat next to one of the other men dressed in uniform.Â
âHow do you like Germany, Miss Beverly?â Elvis looked my way with sincerity in his eyes. His gaze was so strong it felt like I would crumble if I looked into his eyes long enough.Â
âOh it,â I clear my throat to make room for my small voice to escape âitâs nice here. A little different than back home thatâs for sure. Itâs really nothing to complain about.â He looked at me with a smile as he rested his hand on his face, looking at me. âHow do you like it Mr.- Iâm sorry, Elvis?âÂ
âOh itâs fine here, little chilly, especially right now but I agree it is nice here. I do miss home quite a bit though.âÂ
I nodded at his statement. I couldnât agree more. Although I never truly had a proper hometown, I did miss being back in the states. Things were just different here and anywhere in the U.S. felt like a real home to me.Â
â Oh I bet, especially for you, youâre away from work, that must be no good.â I wondered if he missed working like recording albums or even making more movies.Â
âI do miss it a lot. But âs alright âspecially since I have a few friends around me and I live off base. I have the freedom to do more of what I want to when I get off of work at the base.âÂ
âThat must be nice, living off base and all. I live off base too and itâs interesting to see the town more. How far off the base are you?â My cheeks instantly heat up as I ask where he lived. Nice one Bev, way to not sound like a creep.Â
âOh not too far, âbout 15 minutes or so.â He replied as if it was nothing to him. I silently pat myself on the back for making it through without sounding like a crazed fan. âHow about you come visit me sometime at my home? Itâs always nice having more people around, especially having a pretty girl like you around, Miss Beverly.âÂ
I couldnât believe it! Elvis Presley was inviting me over to his house to hang out with him.Â
Someone needs to pinch me. This canât be real.Â
Blushing, I look at him. âYou mean it? I would love to visit sometime!âÂ
âSay how old are ya anyway Miss? That is if you donât mind my asking.âÂ
I looked to the floor as he gave me a curious smirk. Gulping, I look back up at him.Â
âUh, 14 but I turn 15 in April.âÂ
A hearty laugh escaped his mouth. Oh god. This is the moment that I got rejected from Elvis Presley. I brace myself for what he says next. Here goes nothing.Â
Elvis turns to the man that is talking to Judy. âYa hearing this Jerry?! We got a couple of babies in here!âÂ
I glanced at Judy giving her a sorrowful look that said âIâm sorry, please donât kill me even though I ruined our chances with handsome soldiers.âÂ
âThese girls are barely even 15!â Elvis laughed again and my face grew even more red. Judy also began to turn red. I was plotting our escape the more the two men began to laugh. Elvis nudged my arm as his laughs died down. âDonât worry darlin, just pullinâ your leg a little, donât bother me none.â I smiled back confused and unsure what to say.Â
After our little incident, the rest of the night was like something you would dream about. Elvis and I spent the rest of the night talking. We talked about everything. I told him about the constant travel that my family had been through due to my father and he asked how school was and my favorite subjects. He told me stories of being on a movie set and the crazy things heâs seen. It felt as if we were the only two in the whole room.Â
It wasnât until I heard Judy call out my name that we finally broke free from each other's gazes.
âBeverly, your mother is looking for you!â
Turning to Elvis, I stood up from my seat. âI guess thatâs my cue.âÂ
He followed my actions standing with me. â I guess so, it was very nice talking to you Beverly. I would really like to see you again sometime.âÂ
I want more than anything to have more time with him. The connection between us was instant. It was intoxicating talking to him and being in his presence.Â
â I would love that.âÂ
âHereâs my numberâ he picked up a notepad from the coffee table in front of us and scribbled on it â call that number when youâre available. I can even arrange for one of my friends to come pick you up if you need.âÂ
I nod agreeing, more than excited to spend time with him. Then it hits me.Â
âOh well I just remembered I would need to ask my parents for permission.âÂ
My parents were pretty strict as most military parents were. I would definitely need their approval before going over to the home of a man practically 10 years older than I am. I could barely go over to a boy my ages home.Â
âOf course darlin.â My heart flutters at the nickname he gives me. âIâm looking forward to seeing you again.â He grabs my hand and kisses it smiling at me.Â
My face heats up and I laugh at the gesture. I shove the paper he handed me in my hand as I hear my name get called again.Â
âI have to go, but Iâll see you soon!â I turn to see Judy waiting for me. He smiles as I walk away with her.Â
âYou are the luckiest girl on this entire continent!â She squeals, grabbing my hand.Â
âI guess I am.â I chuckle. I laugh at Judyâs comical excitement, afraid that Elvisâ crew can see us fangirling over him. I walk away trying to be as calm and collected as I physically can.Â
I see my family at the front of the house pulling their coats out of the closet close to the door. I grab mine from my fatherâs hands. My mother turns to see me.Â
âWhere have you been! I didnât think youâd be gone the entire party. Did you have fun at least?âÂ
The look on her face is one of curiosity. I was never one to really leave my parents or Judyâs side at these parties. âI noticed you werenât with Judy, I just got worried for a moment. She said you made a few friends, Iâm happy for you!âÂ
I nod as my mother rambles. The hosts come to greet us at the door to wish us a safe journey home. My father is laughing with Officer Jackson about some faux paux a younger Officer had made while they were playing their card game. I turned back to what was left of the party. A pair of blue eyes pierced through me.Â
He was leaning against the door frame to the family room, staring at me like I was the prettiest thing he had ever laid his two eyes on. I blushed and heard my mom call my name. He grinned at me as I turned to walk away.Â
The entire car ride home I looked out the window replaying our entire conversation. As I lay in bed trying to sleep, my mind was filled with thoughts of the fantasy I would have of my future. This time the soldier walking through the door to my family looked very similar to Elvis.Â

Ch 1. A lot of Living to Do
âHurry up Bev, I donât wanna be late for the bus again!â My little brother Johnny yelled from the front door of our small German apartment. For a 10 year old he was very on top of things.
âJohnny give me two more seconds!â I screamed back as I grabbed the books that were shuffled across my desk from the night before. Just as I was about to meet my anxious little brother at the front door my mother stopped me.
âBeverly, please tell your brother not to leave his mittens at school again today and donât forget about tonight! Iâll most likely need your help with the fruit cake before we leave!â She exclaimed from the kitchen. âIâll try my best, mother!â
I followed Johnny into the crisp winter air of Germany. My family had moved here in the summer last year as my father was in the military, Air Force to be exact. We would relocate often, mainly to other parts of the U.S. but this was new to us. Moving to an entirely different country. Luckily, we lived in an apartment complex that was filled with other people exactly like us, military families. Most of the children went to the same school that we did as well. It was a school designed for American children to go to that had a family member in the military.
It wasnât all that bad here, just a little lonely at times. I found it more difficult to make friends as I got older. As soon as we got comfortable in whatever city we settled into, it was time to move again. I feared making friends once I got to Germany. We had lived in Texas before coming to Germany for two whole years and I had made friends there in El Paso. Next thing I knew I had to move halfway across the globe for High School and leave my friends behind. I did have a small handful of friends in Germany but never got closer than seeing them at school or running into them at the apartment complex. I mainly stuck to my studies at home. I was really into music and had my prized record collection that I had brought over from the states.
I would sit in my room for hours listening to my records. I would sit in bed and even in class at school and fantasize about my life after I finished High school. I dreamed of going to a college back in the U.S. and meeting a nice boy there. We would settle down in suburbia and live a long life filled with kids and grandkids running around. When I thought about it, I was really only about 3 years closer to my dream than I realized. Winter break of my 9th grade had just passed which meant summer was inching closer even if it was still freezing in the middle of February.
I sighed thinking about my little life plan. It was the one thing getting me through the long days at school and the boring classes. Especially the German lessons.
The bell rang signifying the end of the school day. I stood up grabbing my coat and placing it around my arms and shoulders. I hurried out to find Johnny to remind him of our mothers orders.
âBeverly, wait up!â
I turned to find Judy Moore, one of the girls I was fairly close friends with running towards me. Her father was also friends with my father. We only lived about three doors down from each other so being friends was natural for us.
âHi Judy!â I smiled at her as she finally caught up to me, catching her breath.
âAre you going to the dinner party as well tonight?â The party. Of course, I almost forgot.
My fathers coworkers took turns hosting dinner parties once a month as a chance for the wives and children to dress up and mingle in a different setting than their own homes. It also gave a chance for the husbands to show off their families to each other.
Sometimes, if Judy and I were lucky, some of the younger lieutenants and soldiers would show up to these dinner parties. It would give them a chance to get out of the base and network with their peers as well as the Officers above them.
For Judy and I, it was a chance to sit together and giggle, gawking at the men almost 10 years your senior.
It was nice to see real men and not just the boys from school. I would go home and fall asleep thinking of my fantasy of getting married but this time a handsome soldier was the man that would come home to me in our beautiful house full of kids running around.
âIâm going, I have to help my mom. I guess sheâs bringing a fruit cake.â Judy scrunched her nose in disgust. I giggled.
âGreat! Iâll see you there then, I heard a new batch of soldiers are coming tonight as well.â Judy said as we inched closer to the bus. We giggled together in excitement of seeing the young soldiers that had come fresh off the base.
âI canât wait! Hopefully one of them will snatch me up and take me out of my misery.â I say half joking. Judy just laughed agreeing with me.
âSee you tonight then! Wear somethingâŠsexy!â She said in a mocking drawl as she laughed at her own joke.
âNo promises!â
I walked onto the bus and found Johnny sliding next to him on the seat. As soon as the bus arrived at our apartment complex I rushed inside to find my mother in the kitchen with a fully baked fruit cake.
âHi sweetie! This doesnât look too bad now does it?â She was pleased with herself and her baking masterpiece. âNow I need the two of you to get ready and once your father is home we can head out to Officer Jackson's house.â
Officer Jacksonâs house was about 45 minutes away from our apartment. His family lived in a lavish town home. Something I wish my family could have instead of this crammed little space. I went to my room and got ready wearing a nice dark blue dress. The next thing I knew my mother was calling out for me and Johnny to make our way to the car.
The car ride was boring, just filled with my parents talking about my fathers day at work. The radio was playing faintly in the background and my brother was trying to annoy me as he usually did. I let out a sigh as we parked near the house, getting out to fix my blue dress. My hair was curled into a near updo as per my mothers request to make us seem like a respectful family.
Stepping foot into the house, my nose was filled with the smell of food and cigar smoke. I saw the crowd of people seated talking amongst themselves as music our parents listened to filled the room. Some were drinking and laughing as they talked about their stories of traveling like any military family.
âBev!â I saw Judy running towards me with a smile that reached all the way to her eyes âYou need to come with me right now!â she said as she caught her breath from running.
I turned to my parents for approval and my father nodded. That was all Judy needed before she took a hold of my arm and pulled me into a side family room.
âI have someone here I want you to meet!â
I gave her a confused look to see the room crowded with young men in uniform and girls who were making conversation with them.
Next thing I know Judy is pulling me through the crowd as she yelled âexcuse me, sorryâ
A young man is seated on the couch talking to another man next to him.
âMr. Presley, I'd like you to meet my friend Beverly Sherman.â
