Since apps are closed right now, would you guys be opening them again after the lore book comes out?

That’s exactly the plan! Once we skim through Realms of Runeterra, we’ll definitely be forming a more solid plan for The Runeterra Compendium! There are still a couple people who couldn’t get the chance to apply as a writer or a graphic designer, so we don’t want them to miss out either!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Riot Games had released some news that they'll be printing their own lore book! As exciting as it is, we do want to make sure The Runeterra Compendium will not be exactly the same as Realms of Runeterra. Therefore, we will be postponing bringing in any team members until AFTER their book is released, so we can see what they have included!

Don’t worry, this project is not yet cancelled! We just need to adjust our plans so that we have a more solid project! 

Apps will close as soon as this announcement is up! We will keep everyone’s applications until we reopen it again, so don’t worry about losing your app! We will email all writers and graphic designers who applied to ask if they’re still interested. In the meantime, please make sure to save your Google Forms receipt in your email, as it’s the only way for you to edit your application.

Personally I wouldn't mind if the project stayed as is but it might look like just another rendition of the lore book Riot is giving us. Maybe you could add something more or whatever they don't include in their book idk

Thanks a bunch for your input! We also don’t want our project to be too similar to the book Riot puts out, so we’ll definitely be adding “more” to our book (by making educated extensions of the current lore + putting a collaborative spin on it). Perhaps those two things will be enough to differentiate us I’m hoping it might be), but if other people have thoughts on this, we’d love to hear them!

I heard rito is making a lore book project too. The compendium isn't cancelled is it? Please tell me it isn't. I still want to participate in the project!

No, it won’t be cancelled! We are currently looking into it, along with other options. While the project won’t be cancelled, we may have to take a different approach, now that Riot has their own lore book coming.

Is there a different direction you would like to see this project take? Or would you rather have it the same?

Hi! Can I apply as a writer and artist?

Yes, you can! We have a section in the writer’s application where it asks if you’re interested in being an artist. While we do have a portfolio section for it, it doesn’t guarantee you’ll be accepted as an artist as well. It is just to help us determine ahead of time if you’re interested. 

Remember that artist applications will be released next month! Even if you mark your interest as an artist, we will require you to fill the artist application too!

We haven't let anyone into the discord server yet! We're waiting until the end of applications first to see how many people apply! But if you're asking how many apps we've gotten already, we're still under the expected/minimum number of writers needed for the project!

So make sure to spread the word and apply!

This might seem like a silly question but: I know you all are wanting this to be written like an info book about Runeterra. Could you maybe give an example of what you’re looking for/planning on exactly? I tried googling it, but had no luck unfortunately.

Of course! 

It’s like those infographic books of countries, if you’ve ever taken a look at them! 

But to put it simpler, I’d say think of it more like a concept art book, specifically the kinds that have articles in them! It’s got information and visuals to go along with it, right? Like below, especially the second one:

It’s all information of everything in Runeterra, written as if we are living in the world of League of Legends. Hope that makes sense!

Would the lore be made up/fan fiction (within reason, of course) or be transcribed from the official details given?

Both! While we will be including details already provided to us from official sources, we will also be expanding on such details as necessary. 

That being said, please understand that this is not a project to add any and every headcanons or fanfiction ideas you have. This is meant to be written like a nonfiction, infographic book. You must consult with your respective region mod on any lore/detail expansions you’d like to add and acquire approval from them first.

Do you have a minimum word count on writing pieces submitted? And is it okay if the entries are mostly fanfic? Do they all have to be League-related?

Good question, we’ll include this in the FAQ as well!

There’s no minimum word count, as long as it’s readable. And no, they don’t have to be league-related either!
