one of my trans friends added me to a discord channel called "egg group chat" and I was starting to get very introspective before I realised they're organising a group buy of eggs from a local farm

its crazy to me when people say they cant understand cat body language cause maybe its the ambigous neurodivergence in me but i find them easier to understand than people. they literally come with a rumble feature to let you know theyre happy. i wish i had that.

my wife and i like to torture each other when we lay down for bed at night by tickling or poking each other. as a deterrent we’ve created an entity called “The Bird” which will attack you as a way to show we’re no longer comfortable with whatevers happening. we’ll say “The Bird is coming” or “The Bird is going to get you” instead of “hey stop doing that” then we peck each other with our hands. here’s a visual to help

I’ve been tinkering with the idea of an urban fantasy “All Fairy Tales Are True” setting where some fairy tale characters are mortals who reincarnate and live through their story again and again with no memory of their past lives, but other characters are immortal, carrying over biases and grudges and regrets from the last time they went through this.

Snow White’s dwarves keep her room exactly as she left it, and keep a wary eye on the horizon for the day she returns. When she does they treat her like a beloved daughter come home, cook her favourite meals, warn her to stay away from apples this time, and keep calling her the wrong name.

Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother found her a touch ungrateful last time, and has decided not to appear to her this time around to teach her a lesson in gratitude. This Cinderella, without the memory of the last time, is still a terrified, miserable woman desperate to escape her awful situation.

The Witch in the gingerbread house has developed a thousand traps to eat those goddamned kids. She’s failed every time. She lives a life of Sisyphean torment previously known only to cartoon coyotes.

We never really talked about it but The Ugly Ducking that grew up to be a beautiful swan was still probably pretty fugly from a duck’s perspective

I love when dogs see your hand just sitting next to your side and press themselves against it and close their eyes and sigh. The most simple request for affection and the immediate happiness when you reciprocate. Dogs that love their humans and want that physical display of love as much as you do.

That makes a lot of sense, it's nice to experience that beauty!

Good call, when you really want the right sound right now it makes sense to bring in people who are available and talented!

"I'm a decent cook and my friends love the food i make, but sometimes I enjoy a really high-quality meal in a carefully curated atmosphere or i don't want to do dishes, so i go to a restaurant and pay a chef and cooks and waitstaff and dish washers to make me a fantastic meal in a nice setting without any of the chores."

Of course, we all love a good time without the usual work sometimes!

"I've been way too busy to take care of myself or my living space lately and it's been taking a toll on my mental health, so i hired someone to help me tidy up this week and then went to a salon to get spiffed up so I could feel better about myself, and i paid those professionals for their work and education and experience and skill."

Good on you, self care is so important!

"I'm not very experienced with sex and and would like someone else to show me what it can feel like, or I want to enjoy sex at a time when I don't have anyone available, or I enjoy sex and am pretty good at it but I want to experience it a dedicated atmosphere with someone who takes it seriously, or I want to see what all is possible when someone is really an expert at it and treats it like a set of skills they've spent a long time working to master, or sex makes me feel good and i could really use that good experience in my life right now, so I paid a sex worker to help me achieve that goal."

If you think the last one is somehow fundamentally different from the others, that hiring a professional to provide a service that you want or need for any reason is suddenly immoral because it involves sex, you should probably reflect on why. Because really, at the end of the day, it's not.

The thing that is so threatening to far right Christian conservatives about minority groups of all kinds is that we show them just how much is possible in this world. When a person spends their whole life denying and punishing themself into rigid conformity, there is nothing more threatening to them than freedom. They see us and know they could choose to be something else, and that’s exactly why they hate us - because if they can change, then their pain was for nothing. Our existence reveals their suffering is completely hollow.
