But more seriously, the average person isn't prepared to handle dog breeds with specific needs like wolfdogs or primitive breeds. Of course there are people who have the experience, energy, and resources to care for these rarer breeds. And those people are awesome! But it takes a unique passion for dogs to put in the necessary work to care for them.

We didn't know what our dog was when we adopted him. We just found a puppy in the woods that needed a home. When the vet told us that he was part Carolina, we had to do a lot of research in order to teach him how to behave in polite society.

I love my dog because of his unique personality. If I knew all his quirks before bringing him home, I'd still have adopted him. But I still wouldn't recommend any of my friends adopt a Carolina Dog without giving it serious consideration first.

I'm super autistic and enjoy this kind of thing, but for most people, it's just going to be too much. A lot of people underestimate how much work caring for a dog is in the first place, so they're completely unprepared for canid mixes or very strong willed breeds.

Smth I’ve thought about ever since I first saw wreck it ralph is that in universe king candy is basically an irl creepypasta. Like he’s a racer that only exists in this one specific sugar rush cabinet, every other version off the game has princess vanellope. Literally no one knows he exists except for ppl who went to this one small arcade in the United States. And if the code for sugar rush has been dumped there is no trace of king candy bc he only exists in this one cabinet. I bet there’s ppl who traveled cross country just to see if king candy actually exists.

And then after the movie king candy disappears from the roster forever and is replaced by vanellope but she’s different than every other vanellope, different outfit different personality different kart different voice lines etc

It’s literally that one arcade cabinet creepypasta discussions and YouTube videos about it in universe must be crazy.

My dog is part Carolina Dog. They're considered a primitive breed- they are dogs, but less domesticated than more common, modern breeds.

Wild canid instincts aren't easily trained out. For example, Carolina Dogs tend to imprint on one or two people and stick with them forever. I've taken my dog along to family dinner every week for four years and he still barely trusts anyone but me.

He's instant best friends with any dog he meets, but he's still afraid of other humans and tries to protect me from them.

He's only about thirty pounds and sticks right next to me, so it's easy enough to keep him from bothering people. But a wolfdog weighs about twice that and is much more likely to actively attack perceived threats. And an actual fucking wolf can be 150 pounds.

You don't want a wolf. You don't want a wolfdog. You don't want a primitive breed. You don't even want a Malinois or a Basenji.

They're way more difficult to train than you think and taking care of them is basically a part time job. Just go to your local shelter and adopt a lab-mix.

Humans made dogs for a reason: it's a friendly, small wolf that loves you. We bred out the most problematic traits to make a perfect companion animal. Get a dog and stay the hell away from wolves.
