I loooove bureaucratic infighting as a premise in media, especially when paired with cosmic horror. Akira, Half life 1, Evangelion, the X files, and patlabor are good examples. Something about people in suits from the same governing body getting into fights ignoring the existential looming threat makes me happy

My other favorite trope is heaven/the afterlife being a 2000s office, not implying that the afterlife mimics the current human setting, but rather that the 2000s office design philosophy has always been a universal constant, and humanity accidentally discovered it rather than invented it.
