can we talk about popularity issues??

i’m really frustrated that artist that aren’t big can only get big through popular accounts. i’m so mad at this? this might sounds hypocritical but i’m so frustrated when i see artist who only get 12 notes on a drawing even though is better than average like coming from someone who went through that process,, it pisses me off that no one gets recognition unless one BIG person recognizes you. it’s fucked up that a community doesn’t believe something is good until a popular account comes by and says “oh this is good” and everyone jumps on that. this happens to so many artist (myself included) and it hurts that people only consider “talent” until someone BIG says something.

to those “smaller” artists,, i believe in you and i will support you 10000% of the way! don’t lose hope because you will get there and just believe in yourself! there might be times where ur confidence begins to waver and self esteem issues begin to rise but trust me!! if u think ur art is good, then its good!!

to those “popular” artists,, please support the smaller class,,, u don’t need to reblog or like every single one but they try so hard and recognition is rarely seen!! i’m just asking for a quirky ask saying something small like “good shit 👌🏼👌🏼” and that artist would be SO much happier!!!

i know this is unnecessary but it’s an issue that no one really discuss and it makes me hella sad

What happens once you kill yourself? Because I'm ready to go.

You wanna know what happens once you kill yourself? Your mother comes home from work and finds her baby dead and she screams and runs over to you and tries to get you to wake up but you won’t and she keeps screaming and shaking you and her tears are dripping onto your face and your dad hears all the screaming and runs into the room and he can’t even speak because the child that he loved and the child that he watched grow up is gone forever and finally your little sister runs into the room to see what all the fuss is about and she sees you dead. The person she looked up to and loved. The person she bragged about to  her friends, the person she wanted to be just like when she grew up, the person that made her feel safe. But she’s never really going to get to grow up and smile and laugh and love because she’ll always be consumed with this feeling of missing you. And now there’s something missing from your family and they can barely look at each other anymore because everything reminds them of you but you’re gone and hurts more than anything. and you think that your mom never cared because she was always busy and yelling at you to finish your homework and clean your room and forgot to say I love you sometimes but really, she loved you more than anything and she doesn’t leave the house anymore, she can’t even get out of bed and she’s getting thinner and thinner because it’s too hard to eat. Your father had to quit his job and he doesn’t sleep anymore, every time he closes his eyes he sees his baby dead, and the image never goes away no matter how much alcohol he drinks. And at school your best friend sees that your seat is empty and she gets this sick feeling in her stomach and that’s when she hears the announcement. You killed yourself. And suddenly she’s screaming and crying in the middle of class and no one even bothers comforting because they’re all  busy sitting there staring at your empty seat with tears dripping down their cheeks and all she wants is for you to hug her and tell her it’s gonna be okay like you always did, but this time, you’re not there to do it, everything is dark now that you’re gone and her grades are slipping, she barely goes to school anymore and she ended up in hospital after taking too many pills because she wanted to see you again. the girls who used to make fun of the way you dressed feel their throats get tight, they don’t talk to each other anymore, they don’t talk to anyone, they’re all in therapy trying so hard not to blame themselves but nothing works. and your teacher who always gave you a hard time stares blankly at the wall, she quits her job a few days later. And then your boyfriend hears the news and he can’t breathe, he still calls you a lot just to hear your voice and he talks to you on facebook but you never message him back, he can’t fall in love again because every girl he meets reminds him of you, he’s never going to get over you, he loved you and he cries himself to sleep every night, hating himself and slicing his skin because he couldn’t save you and he’s never going to hold you in his arms or hear you laugh again. Now everyone who knew you, whether they were a big part of your life or someone you passed in the hallway a few times a week, they carry this aching feeling around inside them because you’re gone, and they miss you, and they don’t know why you left but it must’ve been their fault and they should’ve stopped you and they should’ve told you they loved you more and that feeling is never going to go away. And so you killed yourself

but you killed everyone else around you too.

This is a long effort post designed to help artists who are in tight financial situations. Please share this information with others; it benefits everyone when artists can get the supplies they need to make their best work.

AliExpress is a website that sells goods that are directly listed by Chinese manufacturers (as well as occasionally those in Laos and Cambodia). It is part of the AliBaba umbrella. The purchases that you make on AliExpress, like AliBaba, are protected by AliPay, an escrow service. AliPay is the largest digital payments service in the world and highly secure, so it is safe to use your credit and debit cards here. As an escrow service, the manufacturers do not receive your payment information directly, and they are not paid until you confirm your product has arrived (as the money is held by AliPay in the interim). Many prices on this website seem suspiciously low. However, I have been purchasing consumer goods on AliExpress for years and have only had one or two small hiccups. There is also a process for getting refunds if your item does not arrive or was not as described.

The main complaint about AliExpress is that it will take a long time for your items to arrive. Sometimes it is as little as 10 days, sometimes it is as much as 2.5 months. This is a hazard of ordering your items from overseas. If you want faster shipment, it is available; I recommend “ePacket”, which is usually a couple dollars extra at most (sometimes less than a dollar extra). Furthermore, items are almost always “on sale” so watch for real sales and price fluctuations, which are common. Lastly, there is a small discount for ordering items through the AliExpress app. The site is also available in other languages, particularly Russian (where it is the top site for online orders).

I tried to show a range of supplies. There are brushes and palette knives for painters, pens and markers for illustrators, tools for sculptors and beadmakers, capsules and molds for resin casters, glitter and gel pens for crafters, and just about everything else. Look around the site for other products that might work best for you; these are only a tiny window into what’s available. Crafters may enjoy the sections on stickers, washi tape, ink pads, and cute stationary, but I know less about those things!

Though there are many other items on AliExpress, be warned that they are not all useful or legitimate. Do not buy items that would be eaten or go on your mouth (such as cosmetics), as China has had problems with lead and cadmium in unregulated products. Look for products with feedback and multiple orders, from reputable sellers with feedback. 

Please leave good feedback for your order if you are satisfied. Sellers are punished harshly for poor feedback, and these people are working very hard. This is a chance to do your art your way, so please show gratitude to those who make this possible. As another sidenote, this does NOT mean art stores in town are cheating you. Independent art stores in particular have a lot of expenses and actually tend to be very low-profit and run by people who care about having well-curated art supplies available to artists.
