◯ As she promised, Noelle waited at the location she had given Susie. She hadn’t been sure of what she wanted to say, and even when Susie arrived she hadn’t really figured it out. But after everything that had happened recently, she just knew she needed someone to talk to. She needed the company of someone that she knew cared about her, even if she didn’t know how much Susie actually did.

Evidently it was enough to come all of that way at a moment’s notice, which touched the deer’s heart plenty. “Oh! Susie! N-No! I wasn’t waiting long at all!” Responding to her purple friend’s wave, she had chosen to wildly flap her arms back and forth to signal her. Which was awkward, seeing as Susie already saw her.

Just as awkwardly, she flopped back into her seat. She wasn’t really sure if Susie would sit across from or beside her. It’d be across, right? That was where people normally sat!

“Sorry for calling you out here so suddenly! I, um… I already feel better seeing your face. I-I mean! Did you manage to find the place okay?”

Though Susie had been worried about what sort of state Noelle had been in to ask her to meet at this time of night, the greeting she’d given the purple monster made some of those concerns meld away; snorting a bit through her nostrils at how excited the deer seemed to be. She, couldn’t really be sure of why exactly, but it was nice to see that Noelle was still being her eager self, even despite whatever was going on.

“I already said it was fine, so stop apologizing. If I didn’t want to be here, I wouldn’t be,” as she neared, she very gently lowered her fist on the top of Noelle’s head with a bonk; her own way of trying to assure her friend that everything really was okay. She thought she’d heard Noelle mumble something else, but decided not to ask about it; taking a seat next to her without so much as a second thought.

“Heh, ‘course I did! Your map made it super easy-- thanks again for that,” though Susie still hadn’t seemed to shake off the cold she was feeling, shifting a little to get some more warmth from her jacket. She leaned back into the booth, glancing down at Noelle through her bangs as she lifted her arm; resting it behind the two of them. “.. so.. what’d you wanna talk about? You alright?”

Ushered in by the freshly fallen snow, the island's traditional winter season festival, WinterFES, returns once again. Whether it is activities of old, or perhaps even something new, there is plenty to enjoy. This year the festival will run until the end of January!

As a note: these activities are separate from any ongoing or upcoming events and you are free to participate in both! Just keep in mind that WinterFES activities do not count towards ranking up, because this is not an event.

FIBONACCI WARD

BUILD-A-GINGERBREAD MAN High-tech meets sweet treats in this customized kitchen. For a price of (dust), citizens of Spirale can use screens to design a gingerbread cookie to their likeness. You can watch machines behind the glass cut, bake, and decorate your cookie as you command. You could make a gift for your friend… or make a cookie that looks like your worst enemy, and bite off their face. There’s something for everyone!

SOUPS UP For the duration of December a giant pot of soup can be found in the center of Fibonacci. The type of soup changes from day to day, and how it replenishes nobody is quite sure! Regardless it is free for the taking and never dries out. Could this be the work of our goddess Ofiuco? Or could it be something more sinister? (It isn’t more sinister, it’s free soup.)

ICE TO MEET YOU A station has been set up in Fibonacci where you can come to view and sculpt ice sculptures. If you destroy any creations that are not your own, expect to have all of the Dust emptied from your account you jerk. All sculptures must be safe for work.

COTES WARD

QUID PRO SNOW Wandering in Cotes, it’s not foreign to see pixies, especially in their playground. However, it seems they’ve invited their frosty little cousins known as frost fairies over to play a few games with them… and you! Making your way into here can land you a pretty sweet reward, given the price you pay. That is, these fairies will be more than happy to make you anything you wish out of the snow and ice were you to give them a small treat or a gift of their liking.

I’M GOING GHOST… INTERACTING! Traveling through the Forest of Airaisal, one can find a passageway that mysteriously opens up on its own, leading to a path less traveled. Whether you choose to take it or not is entirely up to you. Electing to traverse it, you’ll find yourself in a small, private glen where you will encounter the ghost of your past, present, or future self. Whichever appears is up to you, though once it appears you’re welcome to interact with it as you deem fit. Maybe you want to console your past self that everything will be alright? Or perhaps you’d like to reflect on your present self, or at least the one that exists before you arrived here in Spirale. There’s also the option to speak to your future self, on what they think of you now, or maybe guidance on what might come. The possibilities are endless…

NOM RANCHING Visitors to the ward, especially around the Eternal Tree, will come to find magical marshmallow treats that appears to be causing chaos due to magical means! Whether it’s pelting themselves against passing visitors, knocking precious things over, or merely just circling about as a chaotic distraction, it’s clear the only way to keep them in check is to capture them and have a sweet treat so they don’t overwhelm  the area. Hopefully you came with an empty stomach and a sweet tooth, to boot!

GOLDEN WARD

SNOWFLAKE SCAVENGER The Mermaid Cove Mall planned on having dancing snowflakes as an attraction, but it seems the snowflakes formed a mind of their own and… danced right off of their displays! Deciding to salvage the situation, the mall is now making a game out of it–find five of them and bring them back to the desk, and you win a gift card! Watch out, though. The snowflakes are notoriously hard to capture, and seem to take your own strengths into account… This won’t be an easy task!

XTREME ICE CHALLENGE The ocean shores of the boardwalk have become completely frozen and boating is no longer possible nearby. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t fun to be had there! An obstacle course has been made for the daring complete with icy ramps, jumps, and obstacles.. Come with skates or without, but the organizers take no responsibility if you slip and break your nose.

SILVER-WHITE WINTERS For the duration of WinterFES, Spirale University is offering a different selection of classes related to the season. There are knitting classes where you can learn to make mittens and scarves, latte art classes to help you decorate your warm drinks for the season, and general classes to help you learn to wrap presents like a pro!

ARCHIMEDES WARD

CAROLS OF THE BELLES On evenings in the Archimedes ward, ringing through the streets from the Calliope Theater courtyard, you’ll hear voices as lovely as the singers using them. A chorus known as the Winter Belles begin their lovely lyrical lineup, and the concerts are free to attend. There are also a few open slots to join them, as long as you attend chorus practice.

CRYSTAL FUNHOUSE This large palace is made entirely of ice, and from the inside, one can hear chimes through its halls. Inside are several attractions: a mirror room, a hall full of beautiful ice sculptures, a complementary shaved ice bar for those crazy enough to eat them in this weather… But follow the chimes, and you’ll enter the ballroom, which is completely dark save for the tile floor. Each step you take makes a note that sounds most like you, and the ballroom lights up to the tune of your very soul as you dance across the floor… …What would happen if two people danced together?

YOU BAKE IT YOU BUY IT Throughout the Star Trail, many stalls have been shifted around in order to make a large area for those who wish to put their skills to the test in what seems a continuous bake off. Not only that, but it seems they require volunteers to be the judges of the savory sweets that are gonna be pumped out throughout the days. Fancy yourself an excellent baker who can blow the socks off of any taster who tries your dish or those who wish to place their palettes to the test? Well, have a seat and be served… quite literally!

MISTWOOD

TERRES-TREE-AL DECORATING Once more, a safe passage has been made into the Mistwood, leading to an area called the Traveler’s Garden. Some might remember the need to plant more trees and won’t be surprised to find that those planted back in Spring have now sprouted rapidly and is ready for decorating! Those who planted them can find them in the same spots with several boxes around them full of holiday decorations to get them decorated and ready to shine bright for the snowy season. Oh, and no worries, even if you weren’t able to plant one back in Spring, you’re still more than welcome to help decorate them!

TIS THE SKI-SON In a clearing that breaks off from the decorating, various large hills of snow have sprung up from out of nowhere. Trekking up to the top or taking a ride on a few snowmobiles manned by some island residents will reveal that it’s a makeshift ski and snowboarding attraction! Once fitted with one of your preference, as well as given a safety helmet and goggles, you’re free to slide down those slippery slopes and show off to your pals. Or maybe you’ll just biff it as you catch sight of that rumored dragon in the distance as you ski on down!

SWIRLING GULF

SOMETHING SEEMS ICE-FISHY While the Swirling Gulf can still be accessed, it would seem that a large portion of the waters nearby has been magically frozen over in a thick sheet of ice that can be reached with their submarine transportation system, allowing many people to walk with ease across it. Several holes have been drilled into it as well, allowing people to partake in ice fishing! Though a various amount of fish can be caught, there is also the risk of danger that you may be (un?)lucky to find a murderous large fish at the end of your line. But that could just be a rumor, right? No way there’s some large ghost fish or dangerous sea creature that you could reel in, right…

SNOWMANNING THE FORT Deep below, found in various areas of the sunken city such as the Mainland, Coral Bay, and even near the Kelp Forest, snow that never melts has been brought down and packed into areas where many can build snowmen to their liking. Laced with bioluminescent qualities that offer you any type of color, you can make colorful creations come to life with ease. Not only that, but once completed, the snowman will imprint the emotion belonging to its creator, expressing itself in an exaggerated display on how they currently feel. Whether they’re the happiest they’ve ever been or happen to be a little Scrooge-y at the time, these snowmen are ways to express yourself from the bottom of your heart.

THE CITY OF GLASS

ONSEN AND OFFSEN Recently, there’s been some magmatic activity closer to the surface on the back side of the volcano… suspected Nuee Ardente Society activity. Nothing (too) dangerous, though, and in fact, it happens to be below a spring source, turning the small ponds and water pools around the area into hot springs! Despite the snow blanketing most of the rest of the island, the areas immediately surrounding the pools are kept clear, mainly by the hot cocoa vendors who are taking advantage of this sales opportunity. Be careful, though, because the magma flow isn’t constant, and the temperature of the water can fluctuate in either direction, for better or for worse.

JUST THE WAY YOU LIGHT IT Leading up to the natural tunnel that gives access to the renown Garden of Ash, many might take note of a beautiful array of lights and colorful flowers that are laid out like a path into the garden itself. It’s highly encouraged to take this path at night, where many hand strewn designs light up in the dwindling hours, also illuminating the various plants which grow in the ashen soils, all while making the already falling ash even more snow-like to fit the snowy landscape the island has become. Some of the lights can even reflect of any glass in the vicinity, creating an almost kaleidoscope effect that can take the breath away of onlookers.

SUNSET CIRCUIT

RINK AROUND THE CIRCUITS While more daring skaters might take fun in Golden Ward, more casual goers might find a bit more joy in the ice skating rink set up on the shores of Moon Beach where the waters have been frozen over and smoothed out. Even more alluring, the ice beneath seems to have a mesmerizing array of glowing colors that light up and forms into playful patterns beneath the ice to the beat of the current playlist. Whether you bring your own ice skates or have them provided, you’ll be sure to have a blast gliding along the top of the neon colors!

SNOW FUN ALLOWED There’s a designated arena, full to the brim with snow that never seems to run out, dirty, or melt. Events take place not only throughout the day but also well into the night, with the arena being well-illuminated even at the darkest of hours. A good portion of the arena has been set up with barricades and obstacles for the ideal snowball fight zone, with regular switches between free-for-all or team games; the remainder has been sectioned off to protect any poor bystanders from errant deckings in the face, and is much more for making snowmen, snow angels, or any other sorts of snow activities you can think of.

SKY-STREWN ISLES

AN UPLIFTING WINTER FAIR Life has gathered from far and wide to partake in a wintery celebration that spans the entirety of The Uplift. Snow falls from the sky and gathers on the area's many steps, and it would be quite a tumble if you were to slip and fall down them. You can find all manners of stalls, selling things from warm treats to winter clothes and toys. The perfect place to take a partner or friend to in order to enjoy some hot cocoa!

DON'T LOOK OUT BELO(H NO!) Because of the colder, snowy weather, steep slopes and ramps have formed between the isles and have been repurposed for the Ultimate Skiing Experience. Just keep in mind that you are jumping between flying islands, and there is absolutely no service available to save you if you fall. That means it's best you have wings, levitation, or know someone who does to come with you!

THE ECHO

CAROL OF THE (C)OLD ONES Even the Abyssal denizens in the Echo seem to be in the festive spirit. Taking the new crystal elevator in the museum lobby leads visitors down to the depths of Abyss, letting them out in a place that looks like a banquet. In this 360 degree crystal dome, the shadowy monstrosities outside the barrier begin to manifest... except they all seem to form a choir of beautiful, ethereal voices. As guests have dinner in the dome, they may see the shadows put on spectacular light shows in the darkness, like stars in an ever-present void. This is a formal event, dress for the occasion!

◯ Noelle almost rolled right off of her bed. She hadn’t expected to hear back at all in some part, much less right away. But she felt a little fuzzy seeing Susie cared enough to get back to her with such urgency. It was more than she deserved, maybe.

TO: SUSIE FROM: NOELLE

Are you sure…? Okay! There’s a cafe named Quality Coffee not far from me. I’ll text you a map too, so! I probably won’t be able to sleep anytime soon, so I’ll wait there until you show up. You don’t need to run or anything.

And just like that, Susie received a map to the cafe as soon as Noelle had mentioned it; prompting a bit of a smile to tug at her lips. She really was always prepared, even when she was texting someone.

TO: NOELLE FROM: SUSIE

[ TXT ] : even if i did it might take me awhile, being on the other side of the island and all. but yeah, i won’t. i’ll leave now tho [ TXT ] : just make sure you wait inside, it’s pretty cold out

.. wait. Maybe that sounded weird.

[ TXT ] : i mean unless you want to wait outside? cause youre a reindeer, and winter is like.. your thing? [ TXT ] : or maybe it’s not? [ TXT ] : uh [ TXT ] : W/E I’LL BE THERE SOON

A hand raised up, smacking herself in the face before dragging it down her snout. Why the hell couldn’t she talk normally to people even over text?

Eventually, Susie made her way to the cafe; following Noelle’s map almost the entire way. She clutched the front of her jacket close to herself as the wind picked up, happy to finally be in the warmth of the building. It didn’t take long for her to spot Noelle, awkwardly lifting a hand to wave in greeting.

“Hey. You weren’t waiting long, were you?”

The buzz of her phone was unexpected, jolting Susie out of her almost slumber as she scrambled to pick it up. She wasn’t used to receiving messages from anyone, especially the person who sent her one then; her eyes lighting up just as soon as she realized it was from Noelle.

She wanted to.. talk to Susie? At this time of night? As nice as it was to hear from Noelle, she couldn’t help but wonder if something was wrong; making it a point to respond to her friend quickly.

TO: NOELLE FROM: SUSIE

[ TXT ] : nah dw about it. i’m always up late anyway.

She said, as she yawned.

[ TXT ] : youre in archimedes right? i’m omw [ TXT ] : just gimme the name of the place you wanna meet and i’ll be there

“.. alright. Let me get this straight.”

“So, you’re supposed to be.. me? Like, actually me. And where we’re from.. there’s tons of other monsters. Kris is the only human, and they’re the one that sticks out?”

“Uh.. yep. That’s.. pretty much it. Humans are like, not common at all; they even make horror movies where giant ones step on skyscrapers and wreck ‘em. I like the ones with the giant monsters better though, they’re way cooler.”

“But.. yeah. I’m you, and I’ve never been human once in my life. Born and raised a purple monster. And-- look, if you’re gonna freak out, can you just. Do it quickly? You’re kind of dying, so the more time we spend talking about this, the more shit we’re both in, and--”

“Are you..”

“-- kidding me?! I’m a monster in another life?! Where there’s tons of other ones?! That’s so cool! Man, and you-- I mean, we?-- look terrifying! Like, absolutely awful! Your fangs are huge, your claws are big, and-- you could like, crush a kid’s skull in your jaws, yeah?! That’s amazing!”

“...”

For a moment, Susie just balked openly at her human counterpart-- before she raised a hand to her face, releasing a hearty bout of laughter that could’ve been mistaken for a roar. She laughed and laughed until she felt herself losing her breath, wiping away at the moisture that had built up in her eyes as she tried to get a gasp of air.

“Hah.. you really are me! Dunno what the hell I was so worried for,” if she thought for a second that this version of her would be scared, or try to fight against her just because she was something different, then Susie didn’t know herself very well at all. It was probably really weird for everyone to meet their alternate selves, but for Susie, it was almost like greeting an old friend; feeling no fear as she suddenly slung her arm around the other girl’s shoulders.

“I was serious about earlier, though. As great as this is.. you gotta go, or else we’re both dead. But, don’t worry-- you’re gonna be safe! I dunno who left me the instructions, but I know nothing bad’s gonna happen to you. We just gotta listen to them, then we both get to live! Cause I, uh..” she trailed off, her wide, excitable grin simmering down into something more sheepish as she admitted quietly, “I don’t really wanna die. And I know that means you don’t, either. So.. you’ll cooperate with me, right?”

The human Susie stayed silent; her own happy expression disappearing just as soon as her monster counterpart started getting serious.

“.. yeah, alright. I got it. I won’t try and stop you, but..” for the first time since this all started, she started to feel genuinely worried; glancing at the other Susie through her bangs as she frowned. “What about Kris?” 

“... huh?”

“They’re my best friend. You must’ve grown up with them too, right? I can’t just leave them on their own.. I’m supposed to protect them, no matter what.” She seemed flustered as those words left her, but Susie was serious about them all the same, no matter how corny they sounded. “Are they gonna end up wherever I go? Cause I.. if I get there and they aren’t, I..”

“.. I don’t know what I’ll do.”

“.. oh.” What was she.. supposed to say to that? Susie didn’t have all the answers that her other self needed, but Kris.. wouldn’t they want the same for themselves? To know that a part of them would stay happy if they were able to keep living?

“.. nah, Kris and I.. we weren’t friends until..” how long had they been on the island for now? “.. two months ago. I’ve known them since we were kids, but I.. I’ve been awful to them. Sometimes.. I don’t understand how they’re even okay with being my friend now, but..”

“For some reason, they are.. and I don’t ever wanna lose them, either. So, I’d never tell you to go to a place where they weren’t, alright? We gotta trust that they’ll both figure it out together and end up like us. Kris probably cares about you just as much as you care about them, so they’d never leave you alone.”

...

“I’m glad you.. got to be with them for a long time. If I wasn’t such a terrible person, maybe we could’ve had the same bond that you two have. I’m trying not to mess up our friendship now, but I wonder sometimes if I’ll.. push them away. If they’ll remember how awful I am, and..”

The human Susie tilted her neck a little, bonking her counterpart in the head with her own. She smiled at her; something genuine and heartfelt that she didn’t show a lot of people. But for herself, she could make an exception.

“.. don’t be stupid. Kris is as stubborn as we are, yeah? I don’t think they’re gonna change their mind about you anytime soon. We gotta.. be easier on ourselves sometimes. If they like us, then we gotta be worth sticking around for.”

“.. heh.. yeah. Yeah, you’re right,” Susie sniffed a bit, turning her head away. She wasn’t sure where those thoughts had even come from, if they were even worth admitting now-- but she wasn’t going to stop herself anytime soon. Who knew that all it took for her to be honest with herself, was to be able to talk to herself face to face? It was a weird situation all around, one that she maybe hadn’t wrapped her head around completely-- but it felt right, all the same. Like meeting the human Susie, telling her all these things now-- it was right, and it was okay.

“Alright, no more sappy talk. I gotta tell you one more thing about us before you go, but I’ll try and make it quick. There’s no way I can let you go without telling you about how me, Kris, and some other friends are saving the world right now..”

“Wait, what?! I thought your world was all boring and stuff! Hurry up, tell me already!!”

And so, the pair rattled on for a little while longer; the sound of monstrous laughter filling the forest around them until slowly, it started to disappear. All that was left were the songs of birds being sung through the morning sky, signalling the start to another beautiful day.

Ah. she appeared to dislike that one more than he planned. He reaches up to rub his neck, never certain how to apologize. She talks about the Dreemur residence, and he nods, before she asks what he’s out and about for. His hand falls, he glaces at her finally, and lets out a sigh.

Finding his words for things like this, it’s always difficult. How do you speak to teens, even? An upset teen? He might as well give up, like usual. “Tonight is an anniversary, of sorts.” He looks from her, to the distance. He sighs again, looking down now.

“You need not worry yourself on my account. If I get sick, I get sick.” He looks back up, giving her a tired smile. “You should head inside as well, then. Young folk like you should take care of their health. Kids like you should only be out here if you are making a mess of things.”

“An anniversary? For what?” with her curiosity getting the better of her, Susie asked the question rather bluntly; tilting her head and watching as Horace fidgetted around in front of her. She couldn’t help but wonder if her attitude made things suddenly feel awkward-- it wouldn’t have been the first time, but she wasn’t.. trying to be unpleasant. If she had run into him anywhere else aside from the neighbourhood she used to live, maybe she would’ve been a little happier to see him. It wasn’t his fault this place sucked, anyway.

“.. yeah, no. Don’t tell me not to worry about you if you’re just gonna turn it around on me,” at that, Susie actually felt herself smile a little; but if Horace blinked, he’d definitely miss it. “Look, I’m on my way back to the city anyway, why don’t I walk with you ‘til you get home? At least then we’ll both know that we’re getting where we need to be.”

.. she paused momentarily, rubbing the back of her head. “I mean, uh.. if.. you want to.”

L’uca looks at the teenager with a smirk as she gobbles down the bagel, crumbs flying out of her mouth as she spoke. He’s already decided he’s a huge fan of Susie.

“I mean, that’s not why I threw it out. If you took maybe, I dunno, two seconds of your time to look at that thing, you’d see it had some pretty gnarly mold in it.” A shrug and a dramatized shake of the head.

“Though if that’s your thing, you do you, I guess.” He says this nonchalantly, waving a hand.

“Huh--?”

Although it was far too late to save herself, the remainder of the bagel already chewed up in her mouth, Susie still paused regardless; blinking a few times as she realized what she had just done.

“... oh. That’s why it tasted weird.”

“Eh, whatever. It’s just extra flavouring, not like it’s gonna kill me.” But instead of being grossed out or even scared, Susie just finished up what she had been eating; laughing loudly after as she dusted the crumbs off of her face. To her, food was food; a little blue stuff on the bagel was like, added protein or whatever. That’s totally how mold worked, right? “Man, they sold that thing to you like that?! We should go back to wherever you got it and demand your money back! And more bagels. I’ll help! I can be like, your backup or whatever. Heh.”

Which was basically her saying that she was the one who was still hungry.

It’s one of those times that Barry wishes Lup was here– or Taako, even. Either one could probably get on this kid’s wavelength easy, but neither works here at the hospital. Barry will have to do.

“Just cleaning solution,” Barry says patiently. At least her aggression confirms that she’s probably not in a dire state. Sarcastically he adds, “You wanna yell louder? We’ve probably got a patient or two down in the ER who can’t hear you yet.”

All the same, he slows down his brisk pace slightly– not to draw it out, just to give her a little more time to breathe.

“I’ve gotta get ‘em clean before I put bandages on or you’re gonna risk infection, which’ll hurt more than this to deal with,” he continues while he works on one of her hands. “You’re lucky a couple’a these don’t need stitches. What’d ya get into, kid?”

Oh, so this guy was snarky, huh? His sarcastic comment made Susie all but snort, rolling her eyes as she tried to control how much she was flinching every time he touched her. “Yeah, maybe. Can’t imagine anyone else is having a good time here, might as well liven things up a little. I wouldn’t be yelling so much anyway if you just slowed down!”

In the back of her head, she knew that all he was trying to do was help her-- but she was already on edge from the fight she’d been in, and every sting was just reigniting those feelings from earlier. At least he seemed to be listening to her finally, noting the way that his pace became a bit gentler than it was before. She breathed out of her nose quietly, rubbing a sore spot on her head with her free hand.

“Hospitals are way too fancy. I just use water to clean ‘em out, and then they’re fine,” this was the last time she was taking Kris’s advice on seeing a doctor, unless she was literally dying. Susie had been taking care of herself her whole life, she didn’t need people who didn’t care about her making things worse. She fell silent at the doctor’s question however, averting her gaze so she didn’t have to look at him when she answered.

“What’s it to you? It already happened, talking about it isn’t gonna change anything,” .. yet some part of her felt almost bad for snapping back at him like that, grumbling under her breath before she tried again. “.. some jerks were picking on my friend. I told them to back off, they didn’t like it, so we got into a fight.” Suddenly, Susie grinned; a sense of pride filling her voice. “Don’t know why they even tried, though-- I might look like this, but they’re worse off than I am.”

It was lucky that Susie had decided to take her walk along the road next to the elementary school that day, she thought. The sounds of little kids voices were usually a strain on her ears, annoying her to no end-- but something different was happening today, something that she didn’t like.

As innocent as it may have been (but who knew if it was, in her mind, kids could be just as ruthless as adults), the sight of a young girl with twin buns in her hair getting picked on instantly set her offences on high; narrowing her eyes as she watched a couple of boys throw a toy back and forth over her head, keeping it out of her grasp. It probably would’ve been best to let a teacher take care of it, but all the same, they were never there for her when she was getting bullied-- so Susie acted without even thinking.

“Hey.”

She neared the group, snatching the toy from out of the air as she glared at the two boys. She lowered to their height, staring at them through her messy bangs before she smiled. 

“I live around here. Sometimes take my walks down this street. So next time I come this way and I see either of you bugging her, I’ll tear your faces off.” The smile turned more into a wild, toothy grin as she leaned in closer; baring her fangs as if she was some sort of monster. “This is your only warning, got it? So get lost before I change my mind and do it now, cause y’know.. I’m pretty damn hungry.”

The boys stared at her, then at each other.. before screaming and running away in the opposite direction. Susie just snorted, shaking her head a bit as she offered the object back to the little girl who she’d also probably just scared the crap out of.

“Here. This is yours, right? You okay?”
