Do you love to clean?
Housemaid Vacancy . Job overview
The average hourly wage for housekeepers is $9.76
It’s a physical job; you’ll have to be a hard worker
You’ll have to be able to do a good job without supervision
What do housekeepers do?
Do you love to clean? I mean LOVE to clean. If the sound of a vacuum motor really gets you revved up and you live for that squeaky-clean feeling, chances are you’d make an awesome housekeeper. Whether you work as a maid, house cleaner or housekeeper, you will be scrubbing, sweeping and folding your way into a brighter, cleaner world.
Hotels and cleaning companies will expect you to be efficient and hardworking with a good eye for detail. You’ll have to work well without direct supervision, whether you’re working solo or with a team of other housekeepers.
You shouldn’t assume this will be the perfect job for you just because you like to clean your house once a week. Housekeepers and maids clean up other people’s messes for their entire shift, so you’ve got to really love the satisfaction that a freshly made bed and a stack of bleached towels brings to your life. Often you will be on your hands and knees, and you’ll need to be able to lift things (up to 50 lbs.) on a regular basis, so being physically fit will be important.
You’ll have to sweep up every speck of dust, so if you have allergies, this might not be the right job for you. It’s also good to remember that if you’re in someone else’s home or hotel room you’ll probably have to interact with their pets, so being an animal lover won’t hurt.
How much do housekeepers make?
While the work might be dirty, the pay is far from it. According to the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics), the average hourly pay for maids and housekeepers is $9.76. Depending on where you work, who you work for, and how much experience you have, you could make as much as $15.98 per hour. On top of that, many housekeepers are tipped for a job well done.
What are the education requirements?
While a high school education isn’t required, it certainly doesn’t hurt. You should be able to perform simple arithmetic and be able to follow instructions. Employers often look for bilingual team members so that could be a huge advantage (especially Spanish/English fluency). Most training will be provided by the employer, including how to use equipment safely.
Career paths for housekeepers
From an entry-level cleaning position, you’ll usually be promoted into a supervisor or team leader role. If you discover you have a passion for cleaning and an entrepreneurial spirit, you could even become your own boss with a cleaning franchise like The Maids Home Services, Maid Pro or Maid Brigade.
The future of housekeeping jobs
While housekeeping positions are expected to grow, this growth is closely linked to the economy. Think about it: if people are worried about spending money, luxuries like maids and vacations are typically the first to go. You’ll have to prove your worth and be a very hard worker to keep this job long-term.

The original Housemaid
The Housemaid Part 1 , The original Housemaid, directed by Kim Ki-young in 1960, was a claustrophobic, suspenseful masterpiece announcing Korea as a major player on the international cinematic stage. The plot was simple: A family hires a housemaid, and, in doing so, invites ruin into their lives. The housemaid is clearly “off” already, but after the husband sleeps with her, in a weak moment when his wife is away, the maid turns psychotic and obsessive. By the end of the film, the power dynamic has completely shifted, and the family has become prisoners in their own home, dominated and lorded over by the maid who now holds all the cards.
Kim Ki-young’s camera slides through the cramped middle-class house, peeking through windows and around corners, creating a tremendously unbalancing effect, with shots that repeat themselves, sometimes obsessively, heightening the intensity and the sensation that this time, this time there would be no escape from that small space. A vicious social critique of middle-class aspirations (“If only I didn’t want a bigger house,” sighs the wife at one point), Kim Ki -young’s film was a massive hit (financially and critically) in Korea, and changed the Korean film industry forever. It dealt with current issues like infidelity and sex outside of marriage in a courageous manner, and it had a bold and stylistic look that has influenced a generation of filmmakers.
It is now 50 years later. Korea’s film industry is once again dazzling viewers around the world, and in this current climate of excitement and anticipation, The Housemaid has been remade by acclaimed director Im Sang-soo. Starring Jeon Do-yeon (2007 Best Actress winner at Cannes in Secret Sunshine) as Eun-yi, the housemaid, and Lee Jung-jae as the philandering husband who seduces her, the remake takes the core structure of what was there in the original and inverts it. Instead of members of middle-class family who want to buy a television and want to have enough money just to take care of their sickly daughter, the family in the remake is wealthy and lives in a virtual palace, high above the fray of the urban streets we see in the opening sequence. The class critique is still there, but instead of chastising those on the low-to-middle rungs of society for wanting more, it points its fingers at the soulless cruelty of the very-wealthy (a less interesting choice since the target is so obvious).
In Kim Ki-young’s film, it is the husband’s story from beginning to end. The housemaid emerges as a horrifying “other,” a demon from the deep who, once she has tasted the air up here, refuses to go away. The film is a grim warning to those who stray from their marriage (even up to the last moment, when the husband breaks the fourth wall and addresses the audience directly, a jolting theatrical choice). In the remake, it is the housemaid’s story. She comes to work at the house, and she is shown the ropes by Byung-sik, the senior maid (in a brilliant performance by Yun Yeo-Jong). Lee Jung-jae’s “Hoon” is calculating womanizer, with a very pregnant spoiled wife (Seo Woo), and a young daughter who sizes Eun-yi up with a cold solemn face that manages to be both endearing and scary at the same time. She is a creepy little kid, but you get the sense that she knows her parents are lunatics. Hoon is not getting enough sex from his pregnant wife, and so he sets his sights on the new girl. Eun-yi is swept away by the sex and finds him impossible to resist. (At one point, in a moment too visceral too imagine in an American film, she buries her face in his groin and sighs, “Oh God, I love that smell.”) The mansion is a sexual hothouse and she seems to thrive in that environment. Even the uniforms the maids are made to wear play up the sexual inequalities of the situation: body-hugging grey skirts, tight white shirts, and black pumps with glass heels. The glass heels are the giveaway. In Im Sang-soo’s version, this is a Cinderella story.
By removing the struggles of the middle-class from the equation and by focusing on the exploitation of the poor by the very rich, Im Sang-soo has, ironically, removed much of the unbearable tension found in the original. We know Hoon is a jerk (put down the wine glass, bub), we know his wife is a spoiled brat, and we know the housemaid is an innocent girl. The film operates from cliché and our preconceived notions about certain archetypes. The villain twirls his mustache leeringly, and the damsel in distress wrings her hands. It’s a shorthand. There is pleasure to be had in such broad performances (the acting is fine throughout), but a lot of power and suspense is lost in that transfer.
The look of the remake, shot for shot, shows the characteristic boldness that Korean directors are known for. For example, there’s a scene in a hospital waiting room, with a solitary character sitting in a stationary chair. The camera rests on her. Rolling back and forth in front of her is another character, in a wheelchair, passing across the frame. The emotional tension is in the stationary character; it is her scene, but her emotions are made manifest in the restless pacing of the other character in the wheelchair. This kind of old-fashioned “blocking” of a scene in order to show the emotional subtext of any given moment is what the American studio system used to do so well (when the directors and actors all came from vaudeville and theatre, and where blocking like that was par for the course, since it had to be readable in the cheap seats). Every scene in The Housemaid has something interesting about it visually.
The mansion is almost another character in the film, filmed in exquisite and almost excessive detail. The space is extraordinary, echoing and endless, reminiscent of the cavernous maze that is Xanadu in Citizen Kane, or the creepy marble-staircased abode inhabited by Claude Rains and Ingrid Bergman in Hitchcock’s Notorious. The problem with the house, though, is that it is so grand, on such an otherwordly one-percent-of-all-humanity-lives-like- this level, that it is hard to know what we should be feeling about it, except envy at the beauty of it, or relief that we don’t have to be in charge of cleaning it. Neither reaction is ideal for what should be a psychologically taut and suspenseful film. Im Sang-soo and his team of set designers put a lot of love and detail into that house, and it shows. But his attention perhaps was needed elsewhere. The original still terrifies. This one, while visually exciting with a shocker of an ending, and a strange coda right out of David Lynch (a nod to the “this has been a public service announcement” ending of the original), does not terrify. It remains a beautiful visual statement, with some seriously mixed messages at the heart of it. The on-the-nose economic critique does nothing to help excavate the guts of this nasty little tale, because we already know who these people are. Nothing they do surprises us.
There is one notable exception, and that is Yun Yeo-Jong’s performance as the head maid, Byung-sik. The actress worked with Kim Ki-young in 1970, appearing in his second film, Fire Woman, and she has had a long illustrious career. Byung-sik maintains a stony face in the presence of her employers and is an efficient and brisk employee. But when she lets her hair down, sometimes in the presence of Eun-yi, but mostly when she is by herself, a torrent of anger and contempt comes pouring out of her, giving the film its funniest moments. She lies in the tub, smoking a cigarette, her gestures suddenly blasé and “over it,” and the contrast between that and her buttoned-up professional behavior is specific, humorous and eloquent. Every gesture, every look, even the slightest hint of an eye-roll behind everyone’s back, suggests volcanic rage. Eun-yi confides in Byung-sik at one point (a big mistake), and Byung-sik cuts her off coldly, in a flat tough-dame voice right out of film noir: “Listen These are scary people, okay?” To see Byung-sik flailing about drunkenly in her room, late at night, screaming her helpless fury up at the camera placed on the ceiling, is to feel the energy that should have been present in the film entire. There is your real class critique. There is the demon emerging from the deep. Yun Yeo-Jong steals the show.
The Korean film industry was, in many ways, launched into the modern era with The Housemaid in 1960. In recent years, Korean films have gained a new generation of passionate fans, due to their creative, dazzling style and confident experiments with well-known genres (Chan-wook Park’s exhilarating and bloodthirsty vampire movie Thirst (2009), Bong Joon-ho’s serial-killer-police procedural Memories of Murder (2003), as well as Bong Joon- ho’s more recent The Host, and Mother, just to name a few). A film industry that is so certain of itself, so confident in its aims, is reminiscent of the studio system in 1930s and 1940s America, where artistic aims and commercial aims often walked hand in hand. It is a rare thing today, in part because such a willingness to take big, bold swings guarantees that there will be misses. Im Sang-soo’s The Housemaid is what happens when a film-maker’s bravery isn’t quite matched by his vision

Seo Woo The Housemaid
Seo Woo The Housemaid , Accepting the caveat that we get only the really, really good stuff on our shores, it’s hard not to feel like the foreign film market is just doing it better. Anything remotely horrifying or dramatic, Australia and the Asian markets have just been knocking it out of the fucking park. Almost every Korean film I’ve seen over the last few years has been devastatingly good. Sang-soo Im’s The Housemaid is no exception. If you want to see a great example in the vein of Bunuel of the excesses of the upper class, you need look no further than this film. It’s an exceedingly well-trod and simple plot: a wealthy executive begins nailing the new nanny and the rest of the family reacts with scheming and manipulation. However, this reaction takes on Machiavellian levels of awfulness. It’s like a page plucked straight from the Borgia playbook — even scrawled with all the dirty sex doodles and stained with drops of blood. Every character in the film is fully-realized, complex and fantastically rendered: a chess board adorned with intricate pieces worthy of master play. I kept getting duped by red herrings — for once I was looking behind the curtain for the twist and missed the simplicity of the obvious. And the ending would have made Bunuel and Renoir do a Salvador Dali leap with glee and kittens.
The film opens with a young girl leaping to her death in a busy downtown district. While there is one initial scream, most of the people gawk or rush to see the corpse. They’re are even a few folks on cellphones, possibly taping the scene. Eun-yi (Do-yeon Jeon) begs her roommate to leave their kitchen job to rush over and see the body. Then the two go home. It’s a strange open, because you have no idea who this girl is, what her relation to the story or anything other than the certainty that she’ll jump. And when she does, it’s handled with such little fanfare. It’s merely something happening, excitement in an otherwise busy life buzzing around it. It’s a curious ill portent for future events.
Eun-yi is hired on by Byung-sik (Yeo-Jong Yun), also known as Mrs. Cho, the older maid, as a nanny to a wealthy couple. The wife Hae Ra (Seo Woo), a young beauty, is massively pregnant with twins due soon, and needs a second nanny to tend to her needs as well as care for her young daughter Nami (Seo-Hyeon Ahn). Her husband, Hoon (Jung-Jae Lee), enters flanked by bodyguards and casts about like a young prince ling. He interrogates the young Eun-yi, gives her the once over, and then goes about sipping wine in a manner that would make Paul Giamatti roseate.
A remake of the original 1960’s film The Housemaid, the film feels a bit like royalty. Even more accurate would be to describe it as a sleek-ass soap opera. The characters are wonderful. Eun-yi is almost like a small child, bouncing around, pouting, playful. Even when she engages in an affair with her master, it almost feels like watching kiddie porn. It’s unnerving. Especially when you consider Nami, the young six year old who acts like an adult. Her dialogue and mannerisms are fantastic, from her answers to Eun-yi. It’s a beautiful dichotomy: an adult in the body of a child being cared for by a child in the body of an adult. And nobody had to hire Dudley Moore or Judge Reinhold!
And then we have the family. Hoon, a son of wealth, stalks about with this veneer of entitlement, slurping wine and pretty much doing as he pleases. Hae Ra gets more interesting as the film progresses. As a rich wife, she seems disaffected, but then feels like she has to fight to maintain her husband’s affections, and becomes predatory. This is only topped by Hae Ra’s mother (Park Ji-yeoung), who’s like a demon Cruella de Ville. When she suspects — not discovers, no proof, just supposition — she arranges an accident that’s so chilling in its execution, it’s wonderful. Mrs. Cho hates everyone, putting on a frosty demeanor just to survive the household, so she becomes like a drill instructor/confidante for Eun-yi. She’s the only one who’ll make an effort to save her, but in the same regards she also acts as if she’d destroy her too.
The film does get melodramatic, but the characters are so strong, you can forgive them their foibles. Towards the end, Eun-yi does seem to lose the charms that made her so wonderful. Also there are lots of little touches that I thought would have made for interesting subtext and subplots that get completely abandoned. People keep congratulating Mrs. Cho on her son’s promotion to an government prosecution position. We never see or hear mention of a husband, so it made me wonder if perhaps the son was a result of a dalliance between an elder member of Hoon’s original family, which would have lent alot to the film. But alas, nothing is made of it. Also, on the two occasions we see Eun-yi and Hoon engaging in sex, she finishes him off with her mouth. Which would make pregnancy pretty tricky. And which could have created a phenomenal twist in the storyline. But, it doesn’t choose to go there. As I said, it’s more of a slick and shiny “Desperate Housewives” type vibe. Only, you know, good. All in all, it’s a thoroughly satisfying film that ends on such a surrealistic note.

So, you’ve decided to sell your home. Congratulations! It is exciting, but it can also be a stressful time. You want to put your home up for sale, generate interest from buyers right away, and in a perfect world, a bidding war will erupt and you will get more than asking price.
Before this can happen, you need to make sure your home looks its very best and is as appealing as possible. While many real estate professionals are wise to tell you that investing in home staging and minor renovations is the best way to do this, for many homeowners it’s just too costly.
Fortunately, there is another, less expensive option that can help you make your home present well and get the attention of potential buyers – hiring a professional house cleaner.
This article will dive into how hiring professional house cleaning can help you sell your home faster and at a higher price.
Why Hire a House Cleaner Before Listing Your Home?
Here are three great reasons why you should hire a house cleaner before listing your home:
1. Make it look better
The better your home looks and the better it is presented to potential buyers and other real estate professionals, the more you will be able to command. A thorough cleaning, coupled with decluttering and even some minor staging can help you get the most out of your investment by increasing the asking price.
2. One chance to make a first impression
As they say, you only have one chance to make a great first impression. The second potential buyers walk into your home, they will develop an impression; and if that impression is not a good one, you risk them losing interest and moving on to the next home. Even something as small as pet hair on the sofa or some clutter in the kitchen can turn off a buyer. Hiring a cleaner will help you make the best impression possible.
3. Reduce time on the market
If you are able to make a great first impression with buyers, you are more likely to get offers on your home and reduce the amount of time your home is listed. The shorter amount of time it’s listed and the quicker it sells, the less time you will have to keep your home in “sell mode,” and you can begin packing and moving on to the next steps in your life. It will also take the stress off of having your home listed and hoping that you will receive an offer.
Why Not Do It Yourself?
Some of you may be asking, “Why can’t I just do the cleaning myself?” This is a great question and one that many homeowners think. Why not just go it yourself to save money? The truth is that selling a home is a very busy time, and you may not have the time to clean your home as thoroughly as it needs to be cleaned.
Plus, a professional cleaner will likely be able to do a better job than you and in less time. Additionally, a house cleaner can also provide you with a second pair of eyes and identify areas that need to be cleaned that you may overlook.
You hire a real estate agent to sell your home, right? So, why not hire a professional cleaner to clean it?
Timing Is Important When Hiring a Cleaner
The timing of cleaning your home is important. Hiring a professional cleaner is not something you should put off until you are having issues selling. It is something you should invest in before it’s listed, so the listing photos can reflect your clean and organized home. Cleaning also needs to be completed before you start to show it privately and especially before your hold an open house.
It is also a good idea to have your home cleaned regularly during the sales process. It could take weeks to sell, and it will be extremely difficult to keep it in pristine condition during the process, especially if you have children and/or pets.
If you want to get a head start and be proactive, consider hiring a cleaner the minute you start thinking about selling. You may have some deep-rooted cleaning issues that you are not aware of – things that a professional cleaner may bring to your attention. You may need to have your carpets steam cleaned a second time or unforeseen cleaning needs could be identified.
If you are lacking time or the budget, it’s best to get the best bang for your buck by getting your home professionally cleaned right before the open house – when most people will see it.
What to Hire a House Cleaner to Do
Here are some areas you should hire a house cleaner to help you with:
The kitchen and all appliances
All bathrooms
Windows and doors
Main entryway
Bedrooms and hallways
All floors and baseboards
Other areas requiring attention

Home Clean
House Maid Hero , Not going to lie, being a working mom of a 2 year old and a baby, my house can sometimes feel like a disaster zone. Sure the house gets picked up, the sheets get washed and the bathrooms are cleaned, but I barely have the time or energy to do that deep cleaning that your home regularly needs. As I am sure you can relate, my home needs a Hero! And that is where Home Clean Heroes saves this Mom’s day.
Why Home Clean Heroes?
There are a multitude of cleaning services to choose from, but Home Clean Heroes certainly stood out to me for many reasons. Launched in May 2017, Home Clean Heroes is locally owned and is part of a brand that you (or your neighbors) are already trusting with your home — the Buzz Franchise Family that owns Home Clean Heroes also owns and operates Pool Scouts, as well founding and operating Mosquito Joe for the past five years, both well known and trusted brands in Hampton Roads.
All the “Heroes” (the company calls them heroes instead of cleaners, how awesome!) are background checked, bonded and insured.
When they came to my home they were nothing but professional, hard working and efficient. You can tell the company and staff pride themselves on their work.
Home Clean Heroes Staff
Brittany with Home Clean Heroes called to schedule the cleaning and went through the whole process and what to expect.
When Brittany went through the list of what they clean in my home, I was shocked, the team literally cleans EVERYTHING! Brittany explained that they do the same cleaning every time so your house is always receiving a deep clean.
Not going to lie, some of the things they clean on a regular bases are stuff I haven’t cleaned in 6 months (or more) such as baseboards, dusting picture frames and knickknacks, and a couple other things I’m not ready to admit in fear of the mother-in-law finding out (just kidding, but seriously).
The day of the cleaning, I received a phone call before the Heroes arrived letting me know that they were on their way and what time to expect them. They arrived in a company vehicle and in uniform. The staff was friendly and I walked them around the house to show them the rooms and what they need to clean and anything I wanted them to focus on.
Then they got straight to work.
What I loved about Home Clean Heroes
The whole experience was great and left my home with a “shine” that I had not felt in a while with two little kids. While I loved the whole experience, below are some of my favorite parts of the cleaning!
They cleaned EVERYTHING. Even things I didn’t even know you could clean. I walked into the kitchen and the Hero had the knobs off of my stove and was cleaning them! I had no idea they even came off.
My bathroom and kitchen were spotless! My stainless steel appliances shined like they were brand new and my bathroom sparkled!
They didn’t mind my kids. Both my kids were home when they were cleaning and they gave me a heads up if they were about to clean where we were. The staff said “hi” and took a minute to speak with my toddler to make her feel comfortable with these “Strangers” in our home.
The Heroes (staff) were quick, but efficient. Three ladies came to my home and they divided and conquered. They cleaned my home quickly, but did a beautiful job!
I had such a great experience and would highly recommend Home Clean Heroes to Hampton Roads Moms! They not only cleaned my home, but gave this Momma a break from worrying about cleaning the house and instead, a chance to enjoy my family! I can not put a price tag on the fact that my house had an amazing deep cleaning that I didn’t have to do.
As Moms, I know we rarely splurge on ourselves, but I know that removing the burden of cleaning the house by enlisting the help of Home Clean Heroes will provide you a much needed break from worrying about cleaning the house.

What Is A Housemaid
What Is A Housemaid , One of the big steps in hiring a house cleaning service is making the decision to do it. You time means something too, and when life gets hectic and demanding, let the pros take up the slack.
Tips for Hiring a House Cleaning Service
Know what you want. Perform an evaluation of the types of services you really need. If you only entertain during the summer and around the holidays, you may be able to get by with a quarterly overhaul that includes a thorough oven and refrigerator cleaning. If you have a thriving household full of rambunctious kids coming and going at all hours, weekly cleanings may be called for. How many bathrooms do you have? Do you have pets? Will you require a periodic carpet shampooing? These factors will impact the price you pay as well as the scheduling involved. The more you know going in, the better you’ll be able to adapt a cleaning package to suit your schedule and care level.
Check out the major players. Chances are there are a number of residential cleaning services in your area. Fierce competition for your dollar can work in your favor, driving down rates or putting more services at your disposal. When you’re comparing services though, money isn’t the only consideration. Look for these attributes in the service you choose:
Insist on using bonded technicians.
Check references. Agencies will typically offer references, but ask to speak to satisfied customers who’ve been with the company for at least a year. They’ll be in the best position to offer informed observations about the company and its employees.
Suggest an onsite visit for a more detailed and accurate quote for services. Although most agencies will quote over the phone, nothing beats a few real world examples.
Prefer agencies that have full time employees and offer them workers’ compensation insurance. This will provide you with added protection in the event of an accident on your property.
Stick with services that send the same maid or technician to clean your home every time. This measure will limit the number of strangers entering your home and help to insure a consistent cleaning every time.
Prefer agencies that use workers with a good command of English. It’ll be easier to give instructions and answer questions if there isn’t a language barrier.
Hiring a house cleaning service and working with them to set up an effective cleaning routine is one of those chores that can feel like a guilty pleasure. You’re finally going to get some help around the house! Now you can spend your off-work hours doing something fun and rewarding. It’s about time you let someone else do the scrubbing for a change.

Maiden Home
The House Maiden , For those on the hunt for that perfect—and perfectly affordable—chair, “it feels like you have three choices, and that everyone is shopping from the same store,” says Nidhi Kapur, the founder of Maiden Home Inc., a furniture startup that launched in March.
A 30-year-old entrepreneur who runs her business out of an understated but charming showroom in Manhattan’s Tribeca, Kapur began her career at Google before becoming head of business development at beauty subscription service Birchbox Inc. Then she got married and discovered a gap in the home décor category.
“When I got my first place with my husband, we wanted to invest in a nice set of furniture,” she says. They could afford to spend “$2,000-ish” on a sofa, “not $6,000. We weren’t hiring a designer.” But that price point lacked options. “I knew people above me were fine, because designers are taking care of them,” she says. “And below, I had been there too and felt it was very well-served. There are not that many brands serving this particular market. You feel it when you’re shopping.”
What came next is familiar to anyone who’s followed the e-commerce disruptions of the past decade: Find an out-of-touch industry—whether glasses (War by Parker Retail Inc.), mattresses (Caspar), or clothing (Ever lane)—then bypass the middlemen, go straight to the source, build a website, and save people money at the same time. Kapur says shoppers are more ready than ever to buy furniture online—and not only smaller housewares but big-ticket purchases such as armchairs and sofas. And by skipping the catalogs, marketing, and production that other stores rely on, she can deliver a custom piece of furniture made by skilled North Carolina craftsmen in six weeks.
The first challenge was getting manufacturers to sign up. In 2015, Kapur went to High Point Market, a biannual trade show that draws more than 2,000 exhibitors and has an estimated $5.39 billion impact on the state’s economy. Ashley, Stanley, and other local giants show their collections, but so do local craftsmen. “They are highly skilled but stuck in this outdated business model,” Kapur says. “They show it at High Point and sell it to three middlemen who eventually sell it to some consumer at a high-end boutique.”
On her first trip to North Carolina, she cold-called about 25 manufacturers. “Some people got it immediately,” she says. “They know that their business model is changing and that the modern consumer is looking for things that have an online presence. A store like Restoration Hardware is eating their lunch, by offering well-merchandised product and a modern buying experience.”
Kapur ended up working with three artisans in the area, establishing zero-inventory, no-minimum arrangements, but the one thing she wouldn’t compromise on was lead times. “That is what we do: deliver custom furniture in six weeks anywhere in the country. That’s unheard of right now.”
In the startup spirit of making fewer things of better quality, the collection is limited to four styles per offering: chairs, sofas, and larger sectionals. The price of the chairs, which run about $1,000—sofas are roughly $2,000—is comparable to those of big-box chains West Elm Inc. and CB2 Inc. Each Maiden Home piece is available in 37 fabrics, including putty-colored chevrons, charcoal tweeds, a navy leopard print, and, for $675 extra, an aniline leather produced by a fifth-generation Italian tannery. So far, the company has shipped almost 500 pieces.
The service is hands-on. Every week a “build update” email alert is sent to customers. In one, a seamstress might be adding “details like welts or tufted buttons.” In another, an upholsterer is doing “the most nuanced and artistic work of the process.”
Despite that extra attention, the online custom furniture market faces significant barriers. “Big items like a sofa are different from a $75 pair of glasses that have a return policy,” says Seth Basham, a hard line equity research analyst at Wed bush Securities. “These are tactile goods, and people want to try them out first.” Even so, Kapur says the core goals of her startup and other online darlings are more alike than not. “Ever lane is known for simple, timeless design and is for someone who wants to avoid trends and have something high-quality,” she says. “When we talk about design, we’re talking about an aesthetic that will last for years, not something you’ll get sick of.”

cleaning services
Part-Time Helper
Flexibility
We’re not just talking about the flexible number of hours or cleaners here, you can even customise the area of your home that you wish to clean! As some agencies charge by the hour, they provide a rough duration of how long it would take to clean each area of your house and the type of cleaning included (e.g. 1 hour for the living room, which includes mopping, vacuuming, and wiping of furniture and windows). Based on that, it is up to you to choose the area and duration! Or if you just want a specific part cleaned, such as your windows, that’s possible too!
Privacy
How can we emphasize this more? Your part-time helper will only be at your house for a maximum of half a day, hence you’re mostly free to enjoy the privacy of your own home!
CONS:
Availability
Imagine this: Your in-laws are visiting tomorrow morning. Both your husband and you have to work overtime tonight. Who’s coming to your rescue? Not likely to be part-time helpers. Even the most efficient agencies can only promise to offer their house cleaning services 24 hours from the time you place your request. If you have a live-in helper though, that would be a different story… …
Miscellaneous Work Allocation
While some home cleaning packages might even cover tasks such as ironing your clothes or packing your wardrobes, there are just some work that they cannot accomplish. For example, they cannot collect a parcel delivered to your home on your behalf or fetch your kids from school.
Foreign Domestic Worker
If you require more help in your household, choosing a full-time maid might be for you. Nevertheless, there are still pros and cons that you need to consider.
PROS:
Reliability
Hiring a foreign domestic worker to assist you with the endless household chores and play the role of the main caregiver for your loved ones – this is something that a part-time helper cannot offer. When you are too caught up with work, your live-in helper might even be a companion to your children or elderly parents.
At times when you need to go on overseas business trips, your maid can take care of the house. While having a home insurance (Tiq has a comprehensive plan for you!) contributes to our peace of mind should anything happen, having someone to take care of your loved ones and be the first responder in case of an emergency would be even better.
Long-Term Benefits
Having a live-in helper means she would be able to familiarise herself with the daily routines of household chores. Perhaps she might even be able to manage the chores independently after some time! On the other hand, a part-time helper is not assigned to you on a permanent basis. If an issue does crop up, there is no guarantee that the solution will be conveyed to the temporary helper allocated to you.
CONS:
Employer-Helper Disputes
Living under one roof is not that easy, especially when there are cultural differences and possibly language barriers. It is common for employers to install a CCTV at home to ensure all things are in good order during their absence. However, there’s a better solution to ease unnecessary distress for both parties: how about building greater mutual understanding and trust in your employer-helper relationship? Check out this article for 3 simple tips!
Higher Short-Term Costs
If you’re just looking for short-term house cleaning services, hiring a live-in maid in Singapore would cost you more than a part-time helper. The miscellaneous expenses mentioned in the above table could be travel expenses (i.e. airfare to and fro your maid’s hometown as well as travel insurance) and provision of basic necessities and healthcare.
Speaking of healthcare, it is important that you are mindful of your foreign domestic worker’s welfare. While your maid insurance can cover a portion of medical expenses, you should also ensure that she’s not overworked by keeping her health in check.
Extra Room/Space Required
Having a live–in helper means having to share your home and set aside a room for her. Conversely, that space may be used for other purposes such as a study room, or for storage if you choose to hire a part-time helper instead.
We hope the above guide on the pros and cons of hiring a part-timer helper or foreign domestic worker has given you some useful insights. Having a helper is indeed an invaluable asset to the household, but having sufficient protection for your home, family and yourself is also essential.

clean out company
Home Clean Out Business , Running a clean out company will take hard work but can be profitable. In this business, you will remove furniture, appliances, debris and junk from homes, apartments, basements and garages. Often, your clients will expect you to dispose of the trash but allow you to keep whatever you believe is valuable as long as you remove it from the property. This means you can make money by not only providing clean out services, but also selling valuables that were left behind.
Obtain a business license to start your clean out business. You can obtain an application from your county clerk’s office or the department of licenses and inspections in your area.
Decide what you will do with the items you remove from homes and businesses. If you will attempt to resell some of the items you haul away, you will need space in which to store the items until they are sold
Choose a location from which to run your business. If you will have only one truck, you may run this business from home. If you will hire employees to assist with clean outs or even send employees out on clean out jobs of their own, you may prefer to rent office space instead.
Purchase or lease a truck for hauling away items. You may start with just one truck and then add additional trucks as you expand your business. If you purchase a vehicle, have your business name and phone number painted on the side of the truck. If you lease a truck, purchase a magnetic sign to attach to the side instead.
Contract with a refuse company to handle large amounts of trash from your clean outs. You may also contract with a recycling company to dispose of items that have to be recycled. In addition, contact charitable organizations that have a need for items you won’t sell but don’t consider trash.
Find a company through which you can rent a large dumpster when needed. You will likely need a company that will provide a trash bin on short notice.
Buy the equipment you will need to operate your clean out business. You will need contractor trash bags, shovels and rakes for cleaning out homes and businesses. You will also need gloves to protect your hands as you carry furniture, appliances and other items.
Market your business by placing ads in newspapers and telephone directories. Build and market a website that explains the clean out services you provide, and include your website address on all of your marketing materials. Contact banks and mortgage lenders who may be interested in hiring you to clean out foreclosure properties. Network with funeral directors who may refer clients to you, and advertise in church newspapers as well.
Decide where you will sell items you do not throw in the trash or give to charity. For example, you may sell items through online auctions, flea markets, consignment shops and antique stores.
Tips
Keep your startup costs low by purchasing a used truck. As your business grows, you may reinvest in it by buying additional trucks.
Make your business more attractive to potential customers by offering complementary services. For example, you may offer cleaning, painting and landscaping services along with your clean outs.

professional house cleaners
Your Clean Home, There’s a reason being in a spotlessly clean home is so relaxing. Clutter and mess can cause stress, which can keep your living space from feeling like the serene respite from the world you so desperately deserve. But cleaning can come with its own stress. And sometimes it seems like no matter how much scrubbing you’ve done, your home just doesn’t feel as spic-and-span as you want it to. But we’ve compiled a list of tips and tricks professional house cleaners use to get homes looking pristine from top to bottom, turning your home into a sparkling oasis in no time. And if you really want your home to shine, check out these 20 Things in Your Home You Didn’t Realize You Should Be Cleaning. 1 Use a Pattern
Don’t just clean your surfaces willy-nilly. If you use a consistent pattern to clean things, you won’t waste time by having to go back and hit spots that you missed on the first pass. Pros go from left to right and top to bottom to make sure they get the job done right the first time. 2 Apply Products and Walk Away
You can save yourself some scrubbing time by spraying on cleaning products and giving them time to work. This is especially useful in the bathroom—most cleaning product don’t instantaneously disinfect, so leaving them on gives them time to kill germs and break down crud, meaning you have less work to do. And for more great cleaning tips, check out these 20 Genius House Cleaning Tricks That Will Blow Your Mind. 3 Clean Your Ceilings and Walls
Working from top to bottom, dust your ceilings and walls, making sure to get into all the corners. A microfiber mop works great for this, but if you don’t have one, tying an old towel or t-shirt over a broom is also surprisingly effective. Doing this on a regular basis will mean that less dust will collect throughout the rest of your home, allowing you to spend less time with a vacuum or mop in hand. Once your ceilings and walls are clean, you can head back to the bathroom where your products have been doing their thing. 4 Clear Off Surfaces
It’s a big time saver to take everything off of a surface and put them all back at the same time, rather than picking up each item, cleaning underneath it, and putting it down. If you’re dusting, take everything off of a table or shelf before you hit it, then give each item a quick rub with a microfiber cloth before you put it back. Take all the soap, shampoo, and other items out of the shower before you clean it too. And if you want to really streamline the process, discover these 40 Genius Ways to Be More Organized After 40. 5 Declutter, Then Clean
When a professional comes to your house to clean, they don’t necessarily tidy up your stuff. They’ll often just make a pile for you to deal with later. So if you want to produce the same level of cleanliness, before you start cleaning, put away anything that isn’t where it belongs. You’ll save time by decluttering before you clean instead of trying to do both things at once. 6 Do Your Baseboards
It doesn’t matter how sparkling clean the rest of your house is. If your baseboards are dirty, your house will look dirty. If it’s been a while since you’ve cleaned them, you might need to use a damp microfiber mop, otherwise they can be vacuumed clean. 7 Sub a Rag for a Mop
Although it’s hard to top the look of a hand-washed floor, it’s neither realistic nor practical to get down on your knees and wash your entire house this way. However, there is an exception. Cleaning your bathroom floor with a rag shouldn’t take that long since it’s not that much floor, and it’s also the best way to make sure you get all those tight areas like behind the toilet or on the side of sinks clean. And if you want to know how get your floors looking spotless, This Is the Safest Way to Clean Your Floors. 8 Fold Towels in Threes
Take the time to fold all your towels the same way to really make your bathroom look put together. For a polished, hotel-inspired look, try folding your towels in threes. 9 Vacuum Furniture
Any upholstered furniture in your home deserves more than just the occasional lint-roller treatment—in fact, all furniture should get vacuumed weekly. And while you’re vacuuming your furniture, if you have any fabric lampshades, those should be vacuumed as well. Hold the seams on the lampshade while you’re vacuuming them, and if it’s an option, turn down the suction on your vacuum, too. 10 Get Your Stainless Shining
It’s easier than you think to get your stainless steel looking like new. Grab a microfiber cloth and get one half of it wet. Use the wet half to clean the stainless steel, and then dry it using the other half, making sure to go with the grain of the stainless. This simple technique will leave your appliances clean and fingerprint-free, making your whole home look cleaner and more put-together.

Hiring the right housemaid
Hiring housemaid in your home can be a wise idea, especially if you spend most of the time away from your home. But when looking for the best, you are required to concentrate on searching for the right factors that can help you to land on qualified housemaids. Also, you might decide to hire a cleaning company that has got qualified maids. If you are in Singapore, you can still get a professional house cleaning company that has house cleaning helper who you can call whenever you do not feel like performing cleaning tasks. Finding a qualified housemaid can be of help if you have a lot of house equipment that you do not know the right cleaning methods to use. Most of the professional house helpers have enough knowledge of performing the cleaning services, and this can help in maintaining quality services in your house. If it is hard for you to clean your kitchen counters or wash your carpets, then you need a trustworthy, caring, and reliable maid. Consider the following factors if you want a reliable housemaid.
Hardworking A hard worker is one of the top qualities that will define a professional house helper. A reliable housemaid should be hardworking. Once you start your research, you need to settle on a hardworking person or maid. If you met with the housemaids that are interested in working with you, ensure that you have the right questions, you would be asking them to know how they will be distributing their house chores. Depending on the answers they will offer, you will quickly tell a hardworking maid.
Attentive Many people have a myth that many maids have a habit of talking too much. At some point, this myth can be true if your maid will not have enough work to do in the house. But in your selection, you should ensure that you get an attentive house helper. Since you will be leaving them at your home, you need to ensure that they are attentive more especially to the instructions that you will give them.
Flexible When you are choosing your housemaid, you are required to choose one who is flexible. A professional helper should be ready to provide you with all the services you want. In other words, a certified helper should be dedicated to making every effort possible. Also, your maid should help both you and your family succeed when it comes to cleaning services. In this case, he or she is supposed to readjust and adjust her schedule to ensure that all the services are complete.
Trustworthy Trust is among the top qualities that each housemaid should possess. When you are going for your work, you are likely to leave them in your house. Professionalism and trust are top elements that will define a reliable housemaid. You should interview your maid and ensure that you can trust them with your home. Take your time to observe the activities of the maid you choose before you start trusting him or her

cleaning service
Looking for full time housemaid in Dubai , Much like any service that will come into your home, you’ll want to follow a few guidelines. Make sure to interview services and determine what you need done and find out what they cost.
1. Interview several cleaning services before choosing one. Before hiring a service, interview at least 3 companies or individuals. Check out the questions below that you can ask in the interview
Be sure to collect references and call them. After all, they will have a lot of access to your home, and you should be comfortable with them. If they provide previous client contact information, ask those references how satisfied they were with the service professional’s:
Punctuality or schedule availability, Cleaning skills and equipment, Attitude or work ethic, and Professionalism or trustworthiness. 2. Ask who will supply the cleaning equipment. It is common for a housekeeper or team to arrive at your home equipped with all the necessary supplies for the job such as solvents, brushes, brooms and vacuums. In some cases, a service will request to use the homeowner’s supplies.
If someone in your household has allergies, consult your cleaning service to discuss specific products that may be beneficial.
3. Set clear boundaries and cleaning expectations. Before any work begins, determine the exact scope of the services you need. You may also want to negotiate additional chores above a regular cleaning routine, like laundry. Get all of this in writing beforehand.
Consider co-creating a list of expectations and responsibilities of the service. Be very specific and don’t expect the professional to know exactly how you want something done.
4. Designate areas to be cleaned. Spend a few minutes going over areas you want cleaned regularly. If it is important that certain areas receive special attention each visit, point them out. Let them know what concerns or spaces are your top priority.
Make sure you find a service that is open to custom requests. Prior to each visit, be sure to leave a list of problem areas.
5. Find out if there is a charge specific to your type of residence. The type of residence you own may affect service visits. Accessible parking locations and coded gates may create accessibility barriers that increase travel time and thus costs. Be sure to discuss any issues with location before committing to a service. Also make sure your home is in the service area to avoid extra travel fees. Keep the following in mind and plan accordingly:
Condominiums and apartments are multi-unit dwellings. Your service provider may need special clearance to enter the building or complex. Town homes and duplexes usually have direct exterior entrances. However, parking may be an issue for your service provider, especially if your home is part of a complex. Houses usually have direct exterior entrances and ample street parking. However, some homes can be quite large and may be part of a gated community. These issues will affect your cleaning service. 6. Discuss payment for cleaning services ahead of time. Discuss payment arrangements before your first appointment. The service might have an established system in place already. If not, decide if you want to pay after each visit, or monthly. Be clear about included services and expectations in the cleaning service prices.

I Want Housemaid Job
I Want Housemaid Job , A surefire way to ruin your chances for finding clients for your house cleaning business is to suggest the person doesn’t know how to clean his own home. The alternative is to leverage the reasons why your house cleaning services are ideal – you save the client’s time, you’re a professional who has expertise in cleaning homes to your clients’ satisfaction. There are a number of ways to find new customers looking for a house cleaner. As long as you don’t rely solely on one technique for getting new clients who need cleaning services, your house cleaning business should have more dirty floors than you can mop.
Use Digital Media to Market Your Cleaning Business Use social media to publicize your expertise. Create a website, a Facebook page, log into Twitter and use LinkedIn as a professional networking site. Detail the exact house cleaning services that you offer and provide contact information for people to receive a free quote. Mention your location on the website several times, so that potential clients looking for services in proximity know where you’re located.
Also, indicate the radius you serve. For example, list the cities and towns to which you travel or the zip codes where you offer house cleaning services.
Place an Ad on Craigslist Place an ad on your local Craigslist under “Household Services,” where people looking for a housecleaner might search. Link to your website or Facebook page and include your email address and telephone number. Mention that first-time customers get a 20 percent discount or some other incentive to entice people to choose your cleaning service over the competition.
Carry Business Cards and Offer Referral Incentives Carry business cards at all times and always give existing customers several of them to give to friends or family who are looking for a reliable person or business to clean their homes and offices. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful strategies you have for gaining new customers who need cleaning services, so always go the extra mile on your existing jobs and give excellent customer service. Offer your existing clients incentives for referrals. For example, give a free cleaning for every three referrals you get from an existing client.
Join the Chamber of Commerce Join the chamber of commerce. For the cost of membership, you will get a great deal of free advertising, as the chamber of commerce recommends member businesses to newcomers and other individuals. You also may be listed on the chamber’s website. Attend networking events hosted by the chamber of commerce, as you will make connections that can increase your house cleaning business.
Cultivate Business Relationships Cultivate relationships with real estate agents, leasing agents and apartment managers in your community. These people often are looking for people to perform “move-out” cleaning services when people move out of an apartment or rental house. Give them your business card and follow up with them in a couple of weeks if they haven’t called. Let them know that you are serious about forming a working relationship with them.
Place Ads in Local Publications Place an ad in any local publications that are distributed in your town. These can be more costly than the previous options, so you may want to wait until you gain on foothold. Suggest an alternative to paying for advertising by asking newspaper or magazine editors if they would be interested in a feature story about your new business and how you can help people who need cleaning services.
