The turbulence had been getting worse for the last hour. The flight was still due to last for a number of hours but at this rate they were going to be delayed, if they made it at all.

It was supposed to have been a quiet get-together, a gathering of close friends. It had escalated to a loud, raving party where most of the guests didn’t even know who the host was.

"Everybody get on the ground!” The shouted instruction was followed by a loud, echoing bang. “This is a robbery.”

It was hardly surprising that the library would be so quiet at such an early hour in the morning. Besides the librarian, who was taking the opportunity to organise, there was hardly any other noise to be heard.

The show was about to begin, almost all of the seats filled with expectant faces.The quiet music that had rung through the air came to an end, and a rush of excited whispers made its way around the room.

The train carriage is packed - holiday shoppers filling the seats that would normally be occupied by commuters, with their bags of purchases filling the aisles. Yet still more people squeezed their way on-board.

A dial tone rings out and the caller waits for the other person to pick up, unaware of the fact that they’ve mis-dialled the number and a stranger is about to answer their call.

The elevator shuddered and lurched, before coming to a halt. The lights flickered off soon after, the small space falling into darkness momentarily until the backup lighting kicked in.

The final call for boarding the ship rang out, the crew impatient to leave. Two last passengers rushed forwards to board before it was too late.

The number of sober people in the bar must have been in single digits. Most of those who filled the room (including at least a couple of staff members) were dancing hypnotically to the heavy bass-line.

The shop was small with tall shelves crammed full of products. Despite the limited amount of room inside it was busy, however, and from the doorway the beginnings of an argument could be heard from further inside.

Vast numbers of people marched down the streets. The crowd was growing steadily, its volume increasing rapidly as the people’s chants grew more passionate, fighting to be heard.

The waiting room was stark and clinical, with no warmth to it at all. Until the door opened and someone stepped inside, there had only been one other occupant of the room, waiting in silence.

The ship hurtled towards the ground, crashing at high speed. With little to slow it down, it skidded along until eventually slowing to a standstill. After a few moments, a door opened, someone reaching to pull themselves from the wreckage.

Snow had been falling thick and fast all day. As night had fallen and the temperature plummeted, ice formed on the ground of the city park. There was only a few that braved going out in the conditions, wrapped up warm and attempting not to slip on the ice.
