Solum: Tale of a Crescent Moon
In The Beginning, there was a great flash of cosmic energy; a sudden burst of Mana which spurred the planet into being, and from the embers of its matchless divinity, the world began anew.
Five Divines rose, each sustained by the heat of the Transcendent. The Five Divines stimulated creation at their own behest — building, growing, destroying, and retaliating as they saw fit.
Utoria was forged from the molten Mana left over from creation and was shaped over eons. It drowned in an unending ocean. Upon its surface, the continent of Solum arose, ready to flourish.
Solum was the canvas of the Five Divines. The world was shaped to their liking; its very soil altered and constructed for the sole purpose of bearing life upon its surface. And so, it soon did.
Holykind descended from the Empyrean above as agents of the Five Divines, who set their celestial gaze upon the islands of the north, of which they settled and isolated.
Unholykind ascended from the bowls of Utoria, clawing their way out from the Underdark to stake their claim upon the surface world. In their ravenous hatred, they sought prey in Holykind.
The Spurn of Baalgar fled the Underdark; slaves no longer to their demonic overlord. Now Tieflings, their people vowed to do away with their shackles and enshrine the world before them.
The Drakenweyr were born infantile into the northern tundras, but they were not without tenacity. Their kind took to the skies, exploring their newfound lands and creating enduring infrastructure.
The Naga, brilliant and implacable, swiftly evolved. They were the chosen children of The Sire, guided by their Guardians to enlightenment. Their civilization blossomed; magnificent yet naive.
Humanity left the familiar comfort of their caves and set foot into the world around them, becoming enthralled in its beauty. Quickly, they set forth, and a vast civilization spread across Solum.
Dwarvenkin took to the mountainous regions of the north-east, carving out their society from solid stone and shining silver. Ingenuitive automation perfected their craft, and it was superior.
Drakenbol roamed the southern jungle; an innocent an amicable species. The wrath of The Unspoken was beset upon them, and a depraved corruption spread throughout them like a plague.
Elvenkind tamed the northern jungle; steadfast in their expansion. Favored in the eyes of The Benevolent, they were spared a gruesome annihilation. They would then strive for perfection.
Gigas migrated east from the northernmost plains, where they discovered the mountains and the trees of the north-eastern taigas and its inhabitants. They formed long-lasting alliances.
The Orcish warred through the eastern steppes; the soil was bloodied beneath their feet in the opposing conquests — one of despotism, one of sovereignty. Their conflict spread like wildfire.
Keemphast spread across Solum en masse like a sentient famine which devoured all life within reach. The lands were stricken with desolation, and the gnomes were forced into withdrawal.
The Kuo-Toa emerged from the depths of the ocean unannounced as they led their religious crusade against the land-dwellers. They served an unknown master, but their intentions were clear.
Solum: Tale of a Crescent Moon is a tabletop RPG story that I am currently working on, and is a partial continuation of an earlier ‘Dawn of Worlds’ Campaign that a friend of mine had been running some time ago. I intend to create, and eventually, GM an entire campaign revolving around my Solum: TCM storyline, but in the meantime, I am still developing it.
That said, I do have the majority of the plot and structure worked out, and I am mostly just working on adding lore, worldbuilding, and piecing everything together.
Feel free to follow me on this creative journey, as TCM is far from your average fantasy tale...
