Longbow
Tumblr media
(the SHIELD equivalent)
Longbow in particular has a big presence on the Rogue Isles so Snowstorm probably has fought or had to avoid them more than once already.
Where Hero Corps. is a company, Longbow is an army on to itself, complete with aircraft carriers, rifles, rank and command structure, etc. (Plus jetpacks, power gauntlets, and mechs because this IS a superhero story.)
Longbow has regulations and lines they won't cross. They want to stop Arachnos and other super villains, but they're not going to shoot hostages just to kill the hostage taker.

Renaissance Man
Tumblr media
Real Name: August Sinclair.
Nicknames/Titles: "the Gallant"
Gender: Male
Alignment: Lawful Good
Age: 30
Homeland: Pennsylvania, U.S.A. (relocated to Talos Island in Paragon City, Rhode Island, U.S.A.)
Appearance: Think of him somewhere between Pedro Pascal and Antonio Banderas. And fittingly, his costume would resemble a Zorro-esque Swashbuckler outfit. With an eye covering visor and motorcycle jacket substituting for a head wrap mask and doublet.
Powers: Adaptive muscle memory. Renaissance Man has the ability to copy any physical skill he sees performed and mimic any fighting style used against him. From cooking, to music, to dance, to weapon skills, to vehicle operation, and more.
Weakness:
Cannot mimic techniques that require a secondary ability he doesn't have. Ex: Watching a winged superhero fly can't make him sprout wings or fly unaided.
Opponent must match his own human form for power to work. Fighting shapeshifters, robots, beasts, etc. is difficult for him
Backstory:
August was a man who wanted for nothing growing up. While not billionaires, his parents were middle class and well off enough that money was never an issue for them. Of course, time would eventually come when August would have to make his own way, find a career path for himself. Thus, August started working jobs. Lots of jobs over the years. Janitor, trash man, construction worker, bus boy, dishwasher. None of them really satisfied him though, none of them really felt like a job he'd be happy doing for years. Ironically, one of the things his parents would constantly credit him on was his ability to self-teach. August had picked up a number of skills and knowledge bases he was not extensively or formally educated in. Some martial arts, a little acting, skateboarding, pool playing/billiards. But none of those skills would really make for a paying career.
August was despondent when he attended a superhero convention. He wanted to have fun but living on the largess of his beloved parents was starting to way on his conscience and his self-esteem. That's when a bolt out of the blue hit him. One of the panels at the con was for Hero Crops. an odd sort of organization. A for profit company that consisted partially of, and catered to, superheroes. The spokespeople were handing out brochures for a very strange new initiative.
"Become a hero!" it said. "Hero Corps. is now offering sponsorship to ordinary citizens who want to put on a cape and try for an exciting new life doing good for others." The program required a monetary buy-in, and subject to a proprietary procedure to induce super powers in the volunteers. Which did carry some risks, the infamous "Superdine" drug was still widely sold by many criminal organizations and the procedure involved something derived from it.
Even still, August felt compelled by this seeming answer to his prayer and he signed up for it. (He was allowed to remain anonymous for the purpose of keeping a secret identity. It did cost him a little extra though on the buy in.) Which ended up paying off in dividends. The procedure had enhanced his already amazing ability to self-teach through passive observance. Now he could literally learn by watching and he came up with the superhero alter ego, Renaissance Man.
Hero Corps. were his first employers, having him act more or less as a private detective on small cases that clients had bought comissions for, but they were far from his last. Once Renaissance Man had gotten some purse snatchers under his belt and felt a bit more at ease, he decided to take his career to the big leagues, Paragon City, the City of Heroes.
Once settled, Renaissance Man started selling his services to other formal organizations, private and government alike, across the city. Due to his powers providing an extremely versatile skill set, his list of clients was rather eclectic. He'd worked for the Paragon Police Department, the dimension exploring Portal Corps. the mystical circle the Midnight Society, even other supergroups would hire him as a substitute member when one of their own was out of commission temporarily. He found particularly good work when in conjunction with Longbow. (Think this universe's version of S.H.I.E.L.D. essentially the most prominent good guy intelligence/paramilitary outfit that work closely with superheroes.)
Lest anyone think of Renaissance Man a mere mercenary, he always does thorough background checks on clients and never works for criminal organizations. Among his blacklist is the Wyvern, a VERY shady private security company with many accusations of vigilante murders across Paragon City and especially the Rogue Isles.
"We do what others won't," is the party line for Wyvern and Renaissance Man may be a hero for hire, but the "hero" part comes first, profit second.
And August IS a hero. He's polite, professional, reliable, and has more than once gone out of his way to save lives without commission, pay, or expectation of thanks. He's the guy you know you can always trust. He's not out to avenge the death of a loved one or provide a beacon of hope for all humanity. He's a guy who finally found a job he was really good at, but you know what? That job is helping people and catching bad guys. So what's wrong with that?

Wyvern
Tumblr media
Wyvern is a "private security agency" that is all about the ends justify the means. They have good intentions, stopping supervillains from hurting innocent people and bringing them to justice for their crimes, but they could potentially hurt innocent people and commit a lot of crimes themselves in the course of doing that.
Wyvern is actually not motivated by profit. What they are is a guerrilla paramilitary strike force founded and funded by billionaire Justin Sinclair aka Manticore; core member of the Freedom Phalanx. They recruit idealists who have been hurt by tyranny and injustice and they genuinely believe in stopping evil.
They just are in the mindset that crossing moral lines like assassinating scientists who may have been blackmailed or otherwise forced into working for them, is justified if it stops Arachnos' plans. They're the, "acceptable collateral damage" extremist types where those they may be fighting are absolutely evil, but their methods don't make them much better. The ends justify the means.
Renaissance Man, and most heroes, don't work for or with them. Freedom Phalanx (and thus most of the superhero community) don't even know Manticore is connected to them at all and he keeps it that way intentionally.

Powers
Hellyum is a psychic power-based haven for supervillains where, depending on the result of a series of life-threatening experiments, each individual may develop certain powers. For Lilith, this has resulted in the below.
Psychic constructs:
Psychic cloning - Lilith has the power to create clones of herself and certain objects (e.g. blades, weapons) using psychic energy.
Limitations: Max of 2 cloned objects/instances at a time. Limited to a range of 1,5 km. Her clone is unable to communicate or maintain a dialogue.
Weaknesses
Physical: While being between life and death due to the experiments she has gone through to obtain her current powers, Lilith has lost some of her physical strength and is quite fragile and prone to health issues. Without being able to use her psychic constructs, she's limited to only a few combat techniques.
Emotional: The people from Hellyum are like family to Lilith. They cared about her when no one else would. They trained and took care of her until she became strong enough. She's also Dr. Kyan's protégé, one of the most respected members of Hellyum and old friend of her deceased parents. The lives of those she loves matter more than her own.
Tumblr media
Background
Lilith was born to a wealthy family in New York and lived her childhood years in a luxury only a few could ever dream of. That was, until the fateful night. That night, a renowned superhero came into the family’s penthouse and took the lives of Lilith’s parents, in cold blood, in front of the 11-year-old. It seems, or so she was told, that Lilith’s parents had belonged to the Hellyum and possessed powers they had used for evil. They had to be stopped.
A young couple in a toxic and abusive relationship adopted Lilith. Later, she was a victim of their abuse as well. As she cried herself to sleep at night, there was no superhero to help her. The more she remembered that eventful night, the more she hated superheroes and swore revenge.
When she became 18, Dr. Kyan from the Hellyum found her. He told her it was time she knew the truth. She was brought to the Hellyum and submitted herself to the same procedures supervillains did so that she could obtain powers to defend her cause.
Her goal? Extinguish superheroes and build a better world for supervillains.
