Low-effort doodle of a crossover that was long overdue because there are SO! MANY! PARALLELS!!!!!! No wonder I fell so hard for Scully and Mulder...

Spoilers for both shows below the cut (the ✨parallels✨)

(As I myself am only around mid-S7 in the X-Files, the below parallels are based on everything up to there).

Besides all the structural elements with the military/FBI, which they're working for respectively, while eventually trying to uncover its conspiracies, that all turn out to be real and supernatural (including the core element of using the majority of the people to save/enhance a few), there is of course the striking similarity between the two character pairs:

She's the more rational/stoic/down-to-earth character, while he is the idealist, the dreamer, the believer. He is seemingly a funny guy, taken to be naive at times by his peers and superiors (he even has a reputation) but he is very capable of being serious and cool-headed whenever needed, and he is incredibly smart. She, while being just as intelligent, is a woman in a male-dominated field who knows her capabilities and performs them exceptionally well through precision and rationality.

Originally, she joined him with a very clear goal in mind but ended up believing mostly in him and his goal. She would always put her life on the line for him, even when it isn't the rational thing to do, thus defying her supposed core character trait and proving to be a much more rounded character than she might appear at first.

She often hides her emotions while he openly flirts with her in public from time to time, but private moments (even as private as phone calls in the dark) show her genuinely moved because of him and him seriously caring for her. Heck, they pretend to be a couple for undercover shenanigans! And impersonators assume the form of one of them to try to get to the other!

The codependency between these two, who remain on last-name basis DESPITE their very obvious intimacy, is so strong, and the two pairs even have very, VERY similar dialogue in both shows (one being a manga adaptation, hence the manga screenshot), my favourite example being:

They are canoncially so important to each other that it is known to their adversaries that she is the only thing that could be used against him (and is being used as such very explicitly once), his only weak spot.
