I find it endlessly fascinating how much Alhaitham outside of his character stories is portrayed as someone solely defined by the present. He never mentions his family ever. You don’t even know he’s an orphan unless you read them, or even that his grandma was such a pivotal figure in his life (and inspired some of his current views). He’s so divorced from his past you could be convinced he just popped into existence one day with no fuss.
#there's so much going on internally for him#he's so sentimental with his family's research and his+kaveh's research being what he nestles himself into as a home#genshin impact

Women can write m/m. Men can write f/f. Asexuals can write filthy smut. Lesbians and gay men can write m/f. It's all arbitrary anyway. Who give a shit.

laurent is a beautiful man who is so beautiful he is taken as an even more stunning woman in comparison to her portraits! he is beautiful and androgynous! he is not a masculine hero warrior archetype like damen, and that is something i love about his character. he is still a hero and still beloved by his people in the end, but he only became a fighter because he HAD to to survive. at heart he is a soft, book nerd, horse lover who likes to play and run and be silly. he doesn't have to be his brother, like he tried to force himself to be out of survival--training endlessly in swordplay when he isn't naturally inclined to do so, holding himself to a standard that is violent/unnatural to his body, rigid and laced tight and ready to defend himself. and being safe and loved lets him loosen and embrace that youthful side again and wear garish fashion and be silly and throw grapes while the other men fight around him. being an androgynous/effeminate/non-ubermasculine man is so rare in books and i love him so much <3
i'll forever love that c s pacat is bold enough to make laurent being androgynous effeminate canonical so much so that he's able to pass as jokaste with flying colors and even gets complimented on 'her' beauty. it's so rare to find a character like him. beautiful things happen when genderqueer writers play with gender expression in their books thank you pacat!!

kaveh was 26 when he learned that its not normal to want to kiss your best friends
kaveh & tighnari met fairly recently (during the palace of alcazarzaray's construction) but have now become very close friends
you ever think about how kaveh realised that his fast-developing friendship with alhaitham back in school felt NOTHING like his also friendship with tighnari
kaveh, looking back: oh. those weren't platonic feelings.....
imagine kaveh saw all the jokes about how all teenage girls have an incredibly intense friendship that ends abruptly in a way that leaves a lot of unresolved feelings behind... and was like "yeah that checks out"
....without realising the whole point was the unaddressed homoerotic tension..............
imagine kaveh having this realisation mid-conversation with tighnari like
kaveh: oh my god i dont want to kiss you
tighnari: okay??? i dont either so we're good???
kaveh: no you have to understand i thought it was normal to want to kiss your best friends
tighnari: weren't you and alhaitham close in the akademiya
kaveh: 🫠🫠
