𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐄  𝐒𝐍𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐒  𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎  𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖,  𝐓𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐀𝐈𝐑.    a series of guttural gurgles leave the creature, head craning in the figure’s direction  -  curiosity piqued by the approaching scent.   fearless or stupid, to approach certain death ?  debatable.  perhaps both.   𝙱𝚄𝚃  𝙷𝙴  𝚂𝙼𝙴𝙻𝙻𝚂  𝙳𝙴𝙻𝙸𝙲𝙸𝙾𝚄𝚂 !   can already feel itself fitting into his skin.   the  sensation  of  unseen  blood  dribbling  down  its  maw,  the terrified wails of agony recalled from previous friends.   

it  chokes !  an exaggerated sound, one fuelled by excitement.   “ so close, ”   it wheezes, claws twitching like the legs of a moth in anticipation.   “ they never come to me, ”   a pitiful tone, one overflowing with sorrow.   “ always try to run away ... they don’t care ... ”   the voice hardens, malice  laced  within  it.   

           “ they don’t get away.   no  —  𝐈  𝐃𝐎𝐍’𝐓  𝐋𝐄𝐓  𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌.   they don’t deserve ... my patience. ”   there’s a pause, followed by a lengthy inhale.   “ but  you ... ”   words trail off as its attention lands back on the cloaked teen.    𝙰  𝚂𝙷𝙰𝚁𝙿  𝙶𝙰𝚂𝙿 !   “ will  you  be  my  friend ?    I’m so lonely ~   so  very  alone. ”

𝐈𝐓  𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐌𝐒  𝐒𝐎  𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒,  which is ironic seeing as itself is supposed to be the end.   a vile cycle  -  so agonizing to experience abandonment over and over.   she ... seems so infuriated by its presence yet were she to surrender herself to them then there’d be no reason to pursue.    𝙳𝙾𝙽’𝚃  𝙻𝙴𝙰𝚅𝙴  𝙼𝙴 !    she doesn’t listen.    doesn’t  care.    she’d leave them to rot and perish into flakes of dust before offering an ear or a gentle touch.   one that would remain ... ever-lasting,  𝐒𝐇𝐄’𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅𝐈𝐒𝐇 !    ignorant  and  callous.   

         “ she sought to let you burn ! ”   it proclaims, leering features expressing treacherous intent.   “ marianne ... ”   sing-song tone, it mimics the playfulness of a child.   “ please, stay, I only want your company.  𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛  𝚙𝚛𝚎𝚝𝚝𝚢,  𝚙𝚛𝚎𝚝𝚝𝚢  𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚙𝚊𝚗𝚢 ... ”   

a haunting wail tears from it, followed by pitiful sobs, though its next words flare with fury.

                    “ 𝐈  𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃  𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄  𝐋𝐄𝐅𝐓  𝐘𝐎𝐔  𝐓𝐎  𝐃𝐈𝐄 ! ”

softens, so very gentle.   “ but then ... no marianne for me to eat ... no, no, no.  you  ruined  everything.   only one way for forgiveness, little girl.   I promise it won’t hurt.  no  more  sadness,  together. ”
