I learn languages to remind myself that beauty exists in the world. That there are an infinite number of ideas, abstractions, realities, that can be expressed in an infinite number of ways. To remind myself that even when I feel small, finite, lost, there are doors waiting to opened, people waiting to be met. I challenge myself to enrich my soul with the languages I speak; to shape my brain in completely different ways, to fill my heart with a pleasant weight of so many desires and hopes and emotions. I am the languages I want to learn, no matter how many speakers speak the language, no matter where the language is spoken, where I have an aspiration, I set a destination. And, how silly, the destination is not fluency. No, it is not to be able to speak about whatever whenever. No, it is not to be able to cross the language off of a list. It is to hold the entire process of acquisition in my hands; to form each foreign word with the mouth and the muscles given to me, to write each new word with grace and peace. Words. So arbitrary, so raw. So contextual, yet so free. I learn languages to remind myself that even something so intangible as the spoken word, resonates with the same passion, the same fire, as is within me.

honestly who tf even believed delphine was gone for good #krystalwasright2k16
and RACHEL, omg. i am impressed. i mean, i knew she was cunning and capable of this intellectually, but i didn’t think she would actually take a swing at evie this way and keep everyone else (relatively) safe.
the helena thing was, i think, supposed to be a surprise, but when she busted in, honestly, it was probably the least surprising thing about the episode.

We will never be the same again. But here’s a little secret for you—no one is ever the same thing again after anything. You are never the same twice, and much of your unhappiness comes from trying to pretend that you are. Accept that you are different each day, and do so joyfully, recognizing it for the gift it is. Work within the desires and goals of the person you are currently, until you aren’t that person anymore, and everything changes once again.
(Cecil, Welcome to Night Vale, Episode 75) That is legitimately some of the most helpful advice I’ve ever heard. (via carry-on-my-wayward-wesley)

“Too Sensitive”?
…actually, you probably aren’t.
“Sensitivity: The capacity of an organism to respond to stimulation.”
Sensitivity isn’t some kind of burden, it is merely a constructive honesty with oneself; physically, mentally, and emotionally. This is to experience life genuinely, yielding a more cohesive, educational relationship with Reality in all of it’s pain, pleasure, subtlety, and intensity.
To deny or repress our authentic feelings, thoughts, or reactions to certain internal/external phenomena for fear of disapproval, is to remain in a state of psychological immaturity that only inhibits understanding and encourages passive compliance with oppressive circumstances.
Being bullied into conformity and compulsively bludgeoning your senses into oblivion with drugs, alcohol, escapism, and a steady diet of self-deception actually isn’t mandatory or healthy. Feeling is the essence of living; stop seeking out methods of aversion, despite what others say, and pay attention to the direction your pain propels you, work with your anxieties, and never stigmatize emotional experiences.
Those who shame you for your sensitivity act as the enforcers of a self-destructive status quo; those who have sewn their masks, their conditioned identity’s, so deeply into their own flesh that they are only meandering husks of the vibrant vessels of life that they once were. They feel nothing as they stand close, but from a distance, numb to all pain, but unable to know fulfillment; lifestyles that amount to little more than rigid, mechanical routines of falsehood and tragedy.

Love blurs your vision; but after it recedes, you can see more clearly than ever. It’s like the tide going out, revealing what ever’s been thrown away and sunk: broken bottles, old gloves, rusting pop cans, nibbled fishbodies, bones. This is the kind of thing you see if you sit in the darkness with open eyes, not knowing the future. The ruin you’ve made.
Cat’s Eye, Margaret Atwood
