Romanticism was characterized by its emphasis on emotion and individualism as well as glorification of nature. My nana gave me this lipstick, which is made with a flower and specks of gold on the inside. This shows the naturistic aspect of romanticism, but also includes emotion and individualism, as my nana picked this out individually as a gift for me in a loving manner.

This is a building from my home town where the Town Hall is ran out of in New Milford, CT. It was originally the home to Roger Sherman, one of the Founding Fathers and signers of the Declaration of Independence. I feel as though this building can fit into neoclassical and reinassance styles of design. Neoclassism design has a more blocky design and incorporates the dramatic use of columns which is shown on the front of the town hall building. Renaissance style fits with this building as it incorporates geometric figures and symmetry.

I am a very active individual, as my goal is to be an officer and I really just like to work out and stay in shape. I would say I am part of the gym culture as I attend daily to keep up the active lifestyle that I am pursuing. Therefore, I tend to wear gym clothes 90% of the time and my favorite brand is Gymshark, which by wearing this brand, helps me fit into the gym culture. The gym culture relies on design, as many different companies advertise to college kids such as myself and to a wide range of people to sell their expensive yet durable leggings and gym wear. They also use their customers as advertisement, as their leggings tend to be unique which catches the eye of many people. Each pair of Gymshark leggings has either a shark logo or a band that clearly says ‘GYMSHARK’ which makes them easily identifiable. They have certain designs such as the ‘Flex Leggings’ which are pictured above. They have an under the butt countour that makes any body type look amazing. I really enjoy advertising this company and being a part of their “family” as they promote body positivity and encourages any body type to feel good about themselves in tight gym clothes, but also motivates you to get to the gym to show off your cute leggings.

For this weeks post, the challenge was to find a 3D object and describe what would happen if it was transitioned into a 2D object. The fluffiness of the pillow would be lost if it was 2D. The pillow would be lighter therefore gaining easier transportation. In this transition, we have to be careful about keeping the object the right shape, printing the same design and stitching around the pillow. In a sketch of this object, the depth, volume, shadows and shape of it would be missing. In order to make up for this, a media that could be used is 3D printing and/or modeling.

I consider Vans shoes to be a good design. These shoes were inspired by skateboarders as they are flat, but still functional and stylish which is perfect for skateboarding. The important parts of the shoe include the red vans logo on the back of the shoe, the white signature stripe down the side, and the waffled bottom on the very bottom of the shoe. I would describe it as a comfortable stylish shoe with rubber soles/bottoms. Some inherent constraints include the high top design, the shape of the shoe, and the colors/fabrics that the shoe is made out of. Some imposed constraints include the hand sewed appearance of the shoe, and the company’s signature designs, such as the white stripe, waffle bottom and red logo on the back of the shoe.

This is a cabinet designed with 4 drawers in which I store clothes in at my dorm. The problem with it is that the third drawer down does not close properly (all the way). To fix this issue, I would pull the drawers out and measure the dimensions of each to find the underlying issue (piece of wood too long, etc). I would then cut it to the desired length.
