Sorry that I grabbed you but I need a decoy. I’m pretty sure that the guy who’s having a talk with that girl is the on and off again boyfriend of my friend who are currently off because she thinks he’s doing something shady and I’ve kinda always had a weird gut feeling but never knew and now… maybe i’m right.” She didn’t want to get caught standing there on her own so with another individual, it would have looked a little less conspicuous. “You can leave if you want but it might be fun drama. I’m nosy.” Which was probably evident from the start. “We can get drinks after.”

Rosalie yelped as someone reached out to them, snatching their arm back as soon as the other’s fingers so much as grazed her skin. “ Ay, what the fuck ?! ” She exclaimed as she spun around to face this stranger. “ And you’re shushing me now ?? You’ve got some nerve, chica. ” Despite their initial shock and panic, this woman didn’t seem like any kind of threat, so she softened as her breathing slowed back down to normal. “ Alright, I’ll bite. You’re lucky I’m a sucker for drama and that, even with your grabby hands, you’re probably only the fifth craziest person I’ve met today. So is this a real friend or are we actually talking about you ?? ”

“ hey ! yes, you ! “ he waved at the person passing by his car, folding his arms and resting them at the base of his open window. with a sweet smile on his lips, he shielded his eyes and looked up towards the clear sky then back down at the person in front of him. “ today is going to be a good day, you know, because there’s no such thing as having a bad day in new york. it’s just like, you can be anything that you want to be here. everyday someone comes here, gets lost here, gets found here. there really is something for everyone if you’re willing to look for it. and, hey, sometimes you don’t even have to look. it’ll just find you. “ he smiled again, his good mood practically making him giddy with happiness. “ guess what found me today? “ he asked, not waiting for an answer before extending his arm to point at the kitten sprawled out on his dash and taking in the warm sun. omar looked back again, bouncing in his seat. “ i usually don’t name them, you know ? i just don’t like getting attached, but this one came to me and the name popped right into my head. euca. short for eucalyptus. because their spots look like eucalyptus leaves, but also because a eucalyptus plant symbolizes cleansing and fresh starts. “ with absolute glee still brushed across his features, he sighed. “ are you in the need of a fresh start ? listen, i have a full tank of gas and a free morning. tell me where you want to go, absolutely anywhere. nothing is off the table. i’ll turn the meter off and we’ll go there together. just me, you and euca. let’s see what’s waiting to be found there or maybe even what’s looking for you. “

“ Is ‘hey you’ really the appropriate greeting for your favourite person currently approaching you with an extra coffee in their hands ?? ” Rosalie said with a laugh, levity obvious in her tone. Omar’s joy was always infectious; there was something about seeing someone whose happiness she wished for so wholeheartedly acting so carefree. “ Cariño, there definitely is such a thing as a bad day in New York, trust me I’ve had more than my fair share. What’s gotten into you – you’re acting like you’re trying to sell me an overpriced bus tour. ” They were mocking him, of course, but there was no bite to their words, nor was the intention to bring down his mood. She supposed it was her way of showing affection, perhaps that was a New Yorker thing. They gasped happily when Omar revealed the kitten, handing him one of the coffees in her hand so that they could cross to the other side of the car and make themselves comfortable in the passenger seat. “ Oh you are a nerd, huh !! ” There was that teasing again, something that came naturally around someone who was considered family. “ That’s really precious though, little Euca. ” She reached forward to scratch gently under the kitten’s chin with a perfectly manicured fingernail. The cat purred in response, eliciting another delighted little laugh. “ Are you driving us off into the sunset ?? Can we go to Disney World ?? Though I suppose Coney Island is more realistic … to the beach, step on it Louise !! ”
