Figure skating jumps are identified by the way the skater takes off the ice. Here are simple ways to tell them apart, using layman-friendly terms.
There are 6 different types of jumps (in order of base value): Toe loop (T), Salchow (S), Loop (Lo), Flip (F), Lutz (Lz), Axel (A).
Since Yuzuru rotates anti-clockwise in the air, these examples are for anti-clockwise jumps. For clock-wise jumpers, the left and right would reversed.
EDIT: The toe, lutz and flip can look confusingly similar. Just remember, for the toe, the skater rotates away from the foot on the ice and for the flip and lutz, the skater rotates towards the foot on the ice.

Thanks to 6277 for the subbed videos with proper credit to Sophie Moroi for her translation, and with her permission too. (I saw videos in Youtube that used Sophie’s translation with no permission, and even worse, with no credit to her whatsoever!)
And I love no-commentary videos… thanks to siberia1982 for the SP and FP ones!
Victory Ceremony: I was watching the competition on live stream and praying so hard during ‘Hope&Legacy’. When he finished his perfect FP, tears just streamed down my face. YOU DID IT, YUZU!!!! Then, after the last skater’s turn, when it was confirmed that Yuzu got the gold, I started crying again. And I could not stop crying throughout the medal ceremony! I was watching it on live stream and I kept wiping my eyes so that I could see clearly! Ahhhhhh……… finally, though all those ups and downs of the past 2+ years, through all the pain and heartache, finally!!! he got the reward that he worked so hard for. You really deserve that gold medal and all the happiness in the world, Yuzuru!!!

4 types of clapping demonstrated by Figure Skaters
Okay, here we go:
The “That was awesome!”-type. Usually used when feeling a great amount of joy and amazement.
2. The “You rock! Keep going!”-type. Often seen when people feel the urge to cheer on performers they’d like to continue performing and/or as a sign of support.
3. The “I’ve no idea what I’m doing but I don’t want to be rude”-type. Executed when a person did miss the reason for cheering but still desires to be polite.
4. … and then there is Yuzuru Hanyu…

2017 4CC men’s preview: basically worlds without javi
every time i pulled up a google doc and tried to write a proper preview for 4CC, a low, agonized scream started building in my lungs, so at some point i just gave up and decided to write whatever the fuck popped into my head. will there be a ladies’ preview? a pairs and ice dance preview? if i haven’t devolved into incoherent keysmashing by then (and if the skaters are even still around and not WITHDRAWN WITH INJURIES), we’ll see. (lbr, the most important part of pairs is sui/han anyway.)
in case you didn’t know, the four continents championships, aka. the four continents CHENpionships, aka. 4CC, aka. 4ContsFigure because the ISU can’t come up with decent hashtags to save their lives, is a competition for all non-european skaters that will take place this year in gangneung, south korea, from feb. 14-19. sometimes skaters like to blow off 4CC but since it will take place in the 2018 olympic arena (jesus fuck can you believe it’s barely a year away) most top skaters decided to go this year in order to test out the rink. so we’re in for some p r e t t y interesting stuff next week. (read: this entry list makes me want to die. if you were around for the european championships - the top 5-6 men at 4CC can probably outscore the european silver medalist.)
here are the full entries. aight, let’s go.

TVXQ tries rice pudding (sütlaç) for the first time :D
I love the way Changmin cannot stop eating! He dislikes desserts and this is actually a high score for his standards and the message he sent to Turkey; GOD!!! So adorable.
Changmin-ah, Turkey loves you too~~ ♥♥♥
P.S, Yunho, my revenge will be painful. I'll make you eat a cauldron of rice pudding and you'll see what a prank is -_-
