I have been working so hard designing Aroma’s house. It’s a two story building so I’m struggling even more with it but I think I’m getting there.

The reason I’m planning the layouts of any buildings in the story (ones that will be seen on the inside at least) is so I can use them as reference and keep things consistent. So even if I struggle so much with it, it’s still something I’m wanting to do.

I want to redo the maps of the characters’ houses but I get so caught up in making everything to scale (in relation to each other) and constantly resizing things and I end up never finishing and then time passes and I feel the need to try again starting from scratch. It keeps happening. I need to not worry so much about the sizes of sinks and chairs and counters and just. get them done. I can worry about all that for the actual environment art. Layout planning is already hard enough smh

I don’t think I’ll actually post the comic on any of those, just art related to it. Maybe update announcements on Bluesky. None of them are Rose Fall specific, so I don’t just post Rose Fall art. But they show up a lot since I draw my own characters more than anything else. I don’t plan on anything special with these tbh but thought I’d share regardless.

hi everyone! the developer of the website I host Explorerz on is having a hard time covering his monthly costs. i think Comicfury is such a wonderful space for comics and one of the few remaining websites that values art over predatory profiteering. Kyo makes it a point to keep the game level - ads are opt-in, custom css for comics is available to everyone, etc. if you can spare a couple bucks each month (the lowest tier is $3 which shakes up to 36 dollars a year), you’d be preserving one of bastions of creator-centered webcomic culture and helping it continue its growth!

While I didn’t do the christmas redraw art this year like I was wanting to, I still wanted to do something christmas-y with them.

Ornaments in their world originated by being representations of each person in the color of their soul. So the idea behind this is they got ornaments that match their soul colors and they each drew themselves to cut out and put on their respective ornament :) Except for Bridey, Ashton made Bridey’s cuz spoiler reasons.

It was so hard thinking of what each of their art styles are like lol. As for varying a bit from their actual designs… that was hard lol. Mike’s style is closest to mine so his was easy but the others not so much. The others have like slightly different hair to what I usually draw them with. Trying to think of how they’d simplify themselves was a bit of a challenge, Ashton’s hair being the most difficult. Mike and Aroma draw the most out of all of them. Wisteria and Roxanne draw on occasion. Ashton doesn’t draw as much as the others. Also yeah, Ashton draws himself with his resting “glare” so he’s the only one not smiling lol. But he’s still festive with his little hat :) He gave Bridey one too to match.

Oh yeah, I didn’t colorpick at all for this. I’d imagine it’s hard for them to get the exact colors with crayons. And the ornaments aren’t the exact hex codes either, I just eyeballed everything.

Was really hoping I’d do a redraw of the christmas art I’ve done a couple years back but I never got around to it. Hoping I’ll do it next year

Practice with speech bubbles :)

For the text message one, this is cuz when characters are actively texting, I don’t want every other panel to be a phone screen. It’d usually be like this: first message is shown with a phone screen, but any new messages in the same scene will most likely be shown through a “speech” bubble that points to the phone. And on the corner will have the character’s contact name and the time the message was sent. Those details will be above the left corner if the message was received, and above the right corner if the message was sent by the character we’re currently watching.

Also the yelling ones would usually be in all caps lol. I didn’t wanna do anything too crazy with the text itself (aside from using a different font and uncentered text for the text message one) cuz I mainly focused on bubble shapes. The way the text itself looks can give away tone. For example: a harsh whisper would look like the whisper example shown in the image, but with italicized text, maybe even bolded as well depending on how harsh the character is whispering.

There has been a recent development that I won’t get into cuz it’s not really relevant but just gonna say that it will allow me to spend more of my art-time on my own personal projects (mainly Rose Fall stuff) again. soon. There’s still another project I’m on that I want to prioritize but once I’m done with that, I can fully focus a lot of my art-time on developing Rose Fall more :)

I keep putting it on hold due to other art stuff getting priority. So a lot of the time I use up for art, mainly throughout this year, has been dedicated to those. But I’ve been kinda itching to get back to Rose Fall. Last time I hung out with this friend of mine, I went into this whole ramble about some of the characters at one point and I realized how long it’d been since I fully thought about them for an extended period of time like that. I’m so ready to get back into it
