Meadow, the more outgoing of the two twins, grinned a toothy grin at the other woman, showing off her gappy smile. “Really? Mama, I wanna go make friends,” said the girl as she pushed at her mother again and grumbled. “Babe, why don’t you and Meadow go and find someone to play with?” she said to her husband. Logan glanced between the women, adjusted a sleepy Poppy in his arms and waited for Laney to put the other girl down before he held her hand and followed in search of other children. “It’s really weird, I mean I know the camp is for youngsters but I don’t remember many kids being here ten years ago. Do you?”

Aurora smiled over. Her smile was small and vague. “Yeah, but I think it’s the reunion. Chiron invited all of the 2017 campers back and obviously a lot of us were gonna have kids at this point.” Abi chuckled and looked at her girlfriend. “Not you.” Rora looked at her girlfriend. “Maybe someday,” she said and looked back at Laney with a polite smile. “I’m Aurora, by the way. I was a camper here. This is my girlfriend, Abigail.”

Aurora’s mortal girlfriend, Abigail, always loved children. As her and Aurora were passing by, Abi smiled playfully at the little girl complaining to her mom. Rora looked over at Laney. “Lots of kids for her to play with here.”

Laney looked to Logan, and smiled, grateful for his presence beside her. She knew that the son of Pax wasn’t the most enthusiastic about spending time in the Greek camp, but he’d agreed for the sake of their daughter. Wrapping an arm around his waist, she watched as the ten year old, named Andrea (a coincidence that Laney could not be more happy with and one she thought her father had some involvement with) skip into camp. She tightened her grip on her husband when she saw the other, and gave a soft smile in their direction. “Hey, can you believe we’re back in camp?” Meadow, held to her side, punched softly at Laney’s chest, “Mama, I wanna go play” she whined, staring at the other demi-god with big eyes.

Describe the place they live. What’s the style of the place? Is it well-kept or is it a mess? It’s not too neat but everything feels in order for Aurora, who knows where she keeps her things.

Political stance? Are they active in politics or do they not care? She doesn’t care about politics. Ironic.

What’s the one thing they miss the most that they had 10 years ago?A sense of being more careless.

“Daemons? I didn’t think they shapeshifted into different forms. Then again, I’m a bit rusty on some of the monsters, so you could be right.” Elsie frowned. “And if that’s the case, who is most likely to control them?”

“A more powerful daemon, maybe? A God or Goddess? Whatever the case is, I think we were kept alive for a reason. They need us. Maybe it’s a negotiation.”

Resting her chin on her knuckles, Elsie’s eyebrows came together in thought. “Well…. why did we have notice of a monster army coming to camp? That’s what I find most strange. Normally they’re singular, two at most on the outskirt, but a scale that large had to be planned by someone. And I don’t think it was the monsters.”

“I never thought it was,” Aurora admitted. She then looked over at the guards patrolling outside the cell. “And I’m pretty sure those are daemons. Whoever did this must be controlling them.”

“My own idiocy. I went off from a couple of the other campers and was surround by a few monsters. Couldn’t handle it. But honestly I don’t know how. Everything was pain before going black.”  Elsie stated with a shrug of her shoulders.

Aurora’s eyes narrowed. “I thought I was dead too. I thought a spear went through my chest, but I’m completely fine, like you are. I heard some of the other people here say they thought they’d died too... Whoever locked us in here made sure we thought we were dying on the battlefield before bringing us.” She looked down thoughtfully, brows furrowing. “But why?,” she muttered thoughtfully to herself.

Sighing, Elsie tried to remove her tears that still stained her face. “I just wish we knew. It’s hard not knowing.”

“How did you end up here?,” Aurora asked, trying to add more supporting evidence to her evolving theories on why they were sent here and who did it.

Aurora looked over, having been deep in thought and interrupted by the girl’s small sobs. “They need us for something,” she said simply.

She couldn’t take it anymore, Elsie’s tears streamed down her face as she pulled her knees closer to her chest. She was terrified. She sniffled as she heard faint footsteps behind her. She lifted her head before speaking. “If they saved us from dying, why are we prisoners?”

Apparently some people were going the extra mile with their ‘goodbyes.’ Aurora didn’t give a shit. She’d only rushed back into the borders to grab another sword when hers got melted by a monster’s poison. She took the boy’s arm and ran. “Come on, we need to get back to the battle, kid.”

“What the frick?” Shock evident in the young boy’s voice as he stared across the arena to the random campers kissing, “I thought this was a battle field.”

“Once you’re experienced enough, maybe you will be given a quest as well. Right now, however, the focus is the battle. You mind if I give the sketches you made to Lukas?”

“Ooh. That’s so cool!” She says with an excited grin. “I wish I could do that.”

“Yes. I’ve seen Jane knock out full grown pirates.” Aurora looked a bit proud about that.

“Are they good fighters too?”

Aurora made a face, seemingly understanding. “There are plenty others. Nine is kind and easygoing enough. Jane is one of the smartest women you’ll know.”

“But you said I should get an Athena kid to train me, and the only other Athena kid that I know is Lukas and he scares me.”

“You’re an Athena kid, right? Does that mean you can train me?” Bambi brightens up excitedly.

Aurora deadpans. “No. I don’t do personal training sessions, just the normal lessons. Come to a class.”

Aurora scoffs. “That woman has absolutely no strategy or wisdom. You’d do better training under a child of Athena, even Ares.”

“But, I did get a lot stronger with her help. But because of the war, she told me to go to Drew or Diala for training, since I’m not strong enough to give her a challenge in a spar yet.”

Aurora narrowed her eyes. “You’re reckless. No one is afraid of nothing.”

“I figured that the best way to get stronger faster is by training the way she does. And she’s never scared of anything.
