felt like polishing Faye's outfit after doing my artfight ref for her. the outfit I did there I thought was a little too simple and didn't speak about her character a whole lot

solved the "shirts on winged character" problem by just having no shirt

not sure about the animal patch styles yet but I'll work with it a bit more

some concepts I did last year of an old lady volan who lived the same time as Archus and his family. she's one of the first volans they ever meet. her name is Pteryg and she's an ancient flatlands volan this was about the time I was reworking the facial shapes for the volans, but before I took it to the more extreme shapes I do now

some black sand beach concepts for the visual novel, which will serve as the home of the volcanic volans

not sure which one I like best, but I think I'll do more to see if I land on one I love

sure didn't take long for me to work on redesigning this guy. ah well, better now than later. but a volcanic volan sounded a lot of fun to develop for the visual novel, since his bestie's gonna be from the ocean. his variant inhabits volcanic coasts with black sand beaches.

I wanted to keep his head shape, most of all, but his other silhouette features could use some changes to set him apart more from the other volan characters I have. would help to keep drawing them all together. color wise I think he looks really great. it's based on a marine iguana

and no he still doesn't have a name :')

some more volans. I like messing with their shapes. the differences between polar volans and the others is something I really enjoy, because they look so unlike the non-polar variants yet are still believably volans

desert+ means Faye is a desert volan crossed with a terran. (who I need to showcase the updated designs for). haven't figured out which variant of them she's crossed with though. true hybrids aren't really a thing in this world. kids of mixed parents are just one species, with some very minor traits of their opposite parent still present such as hair/fur/eye color or increased hair growth as in her case. desert volans don't usually have a mane like that. and her ears are pretty small for a desert volan, but I'm considering making them bigger like other desert's. not enough to really change their species into an actual mix
