Hi! Dee here!!
So I have a story that I’m writing that features a selectively mute character such as your Link!
I just have a few questions for how you go about writing him using sign language and some various other things.
1. You do not have to answer this question, as it could be seen as invasive, and it’s more of a curiosity in relation to you writing Link using sign. Are you deaf or hard-of-hearing?
2. Is this American Sign Language or British Sign Language?
3. What are your sources for learning the various signs, and are they from deaf/hard-of-hearing people or hearing people?
Thanks for your time! I love your Link Comics!!!
Hi Dee, thank you for your ask! I’ll answer your questions in order:
1. No, I am a hearing person :) I just took a few courses on American Sign and Deaf culture
2. I use American Sign Language as taught by my deaf and hard of hearing professors
3. A lot of the simple signs I use are what I learned during my ASL courses, but I also use the site lifeprint to reference signs! It was a site recommended to me by one of my professors, but I’m not sure if it’s sourced deaf or hearing persons, sorry :(
I try my best to make signs as clear and accurate as possible and I am always open to feedback from deaf and hard of hearing folks!

Finally finished decorating and glazing it!
Ramblings, don't mind (unless you want to):
It's been a delightful project however when I tried to record it, it sucked. Things went wrong over and over and I realised that, for as much as I appreciate YouTube tutorials and artists' videos, I couldn't do the same. The process was actually really fun and it's such a shame I couldn't share it properly. I guess it's just the filming itself and the shots and all of it that's a hassle for me. I really like the process of creating something that's gonna be your little "brand new thing in the world" and I love people's willingness to share their creativity.
What I realised from that experience is that I like doing things on my own. Art is not just a relaxing thing but it's a way to connect with myself and try something new and potentially fail just for the sake of having fun. Like doodling on the sides of a school notebook during a boring lesson or trying to solve a Rubik's cube for the first time. It's a shot in the dark and I can single-handedly focus on it. I'll have to find another way to share my joy in this but I just hope this is enough for someone. I guess with all this pressure on artists to have an online presence and monetise the artistic process too, it's important to do things on your own sometimes.
I feel guilty not being able to be like one of those artists. Like I could better spend my time monetising absolutely everything about what I do because that's what people are expected to do nowadays. I paint over some things I buy, I craft things I avoid buying, I crochet, I journal and I'm learning to sew. And yet it all feels meaningless at the end of the day because there's nothing to show for myself. Like the time I spent on those things didn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. But then again, what does? Nothing and nobody. So why should it be such a problem to make my little trinkets?
Anyways don't wanna rant too long. I have a portfolio to get to and CVs to send. Hurray.
Made a paint palette inspired by the numerous tutorials YouTube keeps recommending me. I made it look like a sunfish! The back part is a brush rest. I hope it turns out good! I'm afraid it might break because it's the heaviest thing I made but 🤞🤞🤞

Another reminder that, if you find yourself angrier at Palmer than Gaiman, Gaiman is aware of that. He knows that people will try to find a woman to blame. Look, he says. My bitch ex-wife is what got your gay angel show canceled.
Be mad at her for leading vulnerable woman to a predator. Be mad at her for stonewalling the cops and writing a shitty song about how she wasn’t complicit. Hell, be mad at her for her moral philosophy boiling down to “people should do things for me for free.” I’ve been carrying a grudge ever since she decided not to pay her touring musicians.
But remember — Palmer made it easier for Gaiman to prey on fans. She is NOT the one responsible. That is not how men like Gaiman operate. He would always find ways to abuse vulnerable people, with or without her.

Now feels like a good time to remind people that the foundation of BDSM is consent. If there’s no consent, it’s not BDSM.
Rough sex can be done consensually.
Sadism can be done consensually.
Impact play can be done consensually.
Emetophilia can be satisfied consensually.
Even consensual non-consent is a thing.
Neil Gaiman had the money and the means to find willing partners for his sexual preferences. There are countless people out there who would be more than happy to perform the acts he wanted. If he wanted, he could have had exactly what he desired with the consent of the other party. But he didn’t look for that because, fundamentally, his interest was in assault, not BDSM.
Don’t let him trick you into thinking what he did was BDSM. It lacked the core element of all BDSM: consent. It was assault that he wanted and that’s what he did to those women.

Ok so heavy, heavy trigger warning for the Vulture article about Neil Gaiman. It goes into explicate detail at some points, including exactly what he did and said and it’s extremely triggering.

Unrelated but I just found out there's STRATEGY in MINESWEEPER?! All these years I thought you played it like russian roulette or operation 😭
Bad plot idea (that I'm hoping exists already)
A hero is injured in a fight against a villain and the hero's agency moves them to an office logistics job while they aren't fully recovered.
One day, the villain shows up to the office demanding the hero fight them and so they end up playing minesweeper and coolmathgames on the computer and whoever loses first is the one defeated for the day.
And after a while it just becomes a thing in the office and everyone is already counting on ordering an extra pizza because Dr. Deathblaster is coming tonight to play fireboy and watergirl and it's gonna be a long night.
