{My Reflection for the First Quarter in Learning MIL}
“Moving on doesn’t mean you forget about things. It just means you have to accept what’s happened and continue living.”
-Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail)
As October draws to a close, so does the First Quarter of online classes. It feels surreal in my opinion, that so many things happened in just two months or so, that we have already gone through so many lessons. To be honest to me it feels like a year has passed since then.
This quarter, I learned that Media and Information Language is a vital subject for students especially for knowledge. This subject taught me that just like water is essential for us to live, media and information are also important for us as human beings. Over the course of the First Quarter I learned how media evolved through the ages, where it came from, what being information literate means, and so much more that is supposed to be common knowledge to us. It may have been hard to remember all these terms but in my opinion everything about it is so interesting. I love that the teacher is so passionate about it and I particularly like the subject itself since it explains things that is clear to media producers and not to some of us.
Sure I may have struggled but difficulties are a part of life. Overcoming such obstacles is just another way to learn.

Anyways, I just want to say an early “HAPPY HALLOWEEN!” since Halloween is near and that I am looking forward to the 2nd Quarter with everyone else.
Time spent: 7 hours and 5 minutes

Media and Information Sources, Media and Information Languages
-What I remembered the most-
Tumblr media
I probably spent more time than I should have drawing this.
(Yes, this isn’t traced or taken from the Internet. None of my posts are. I’m not THAT low as to steal someone’s art and claim it as my own, you know.)
Out of the two lessons, I remembered the ones about Conventions and Media codes more clearly than the others. It is probably due to the many terms that accompanied it but go figure.
Anyways, I learned that there is actually a system of signs that create meaning when put together (which is Media Codes) and that there is a reason for the things that I noticed in films and TV shows. The producers or the ones behind the film uses the aforementioned codes in order to send a message to the audience without specifying it and as the audience, we get their message clearly. There are also the conventions of Media which I also find interesting because it helps pave the way for writers, producers, and directors to know what exactly a certain genre has that the film should have.

Performance Task -Propaganda-
The Internet, while useful and easy to use, is also susceptible to issue like any other thing.
Out of all the possible topics to make a propaganda of, I chose the fake identity/fake account/imposter. This is because this is prevalent in not only Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, but also in every social media platform. It has become a norm for a fan to name themselves as their favorite celebrity in a spare account and though it is mostly harmless, it may prove to be a very big problem for said celebrity when the account does something extremely untoward and it is linked back to them. Not only that, but there are some instances of people making up a fake account in order to trick unsuspecting people for their own benefit, like scamming them for money or even blackmailing them. That girl you met and chatted with online? She may be not real and may be a bot or a man hoping to fool some unsuspecting person online.
I made two posters to prove my point and because I can’t decide which one I liked better. I made these to provide a word of caution to the people who are careless online.
Inspiration/Style taken: Inkblot Cartoon Style
Time taken to draw both posters: 10 hours and 4 minutes
(I still can’t believe how long this took)

{ Media through the years}
Tumblr media
“Man is by nature a social animal; an individual who is unsocial naturally and not accidentally is either beneath our notice or more than human...”
-Aristotle
Much like what Aristotle said, humans are social animals, we crave for the company and presence of other alike animals since it is in our nature.
Man wishes to pass down the knowledge they acquired while they are alive to future generations in hopes that they will not make the same mistakes they have done and to continue the search for more knowledge. So they resorted to writing down scriptures and on paper until they decided that it was too much of a hassle hundreds of years later leading to the Industrial Age and more. At least, that is what I assume of what happened. Maybe they got tired in doing everything on hand and decided to make things easier by inventing machines to do it for them.
(Please excuse my rambling.)
Anywho, I learned that because of human’s innovation and creativity, life is easier for us compared to those who lived hundreds of years ago. To think that we started from writing on literal walls and end up with information in just a few clicks away. With the help of the Internet, we can easily talk to another person on the other side of the world. It’s really cool in my opinion. Of course it has it’s ups and downs seeing as there are a lot of issues that arise with media as of now especially Social Media but nothing is perfect.
(Now that I think about it, we also write on walls to convey an idea except it is done digitally...Guess humans never change.🤔)

Whether a fish lives in a clear stream or a water ditch,
so long as it continues swimming forward,
it will grow up beautifully.
-Koro-sensei
Greetings, I am Ysabella. I like to read and write stories for my own amusement and draw on my spare time. Welcome to my blog 😊
By the way, all art posted on this blog is made by me playing with Ibispaint so please don’t be angry if it looks horrible 🤧
Edit: I’m just going to write down the time I spent drawing because I suck at time management and because Ibispaint has a feature that shows how much time you spent drawing something.
