they post at least once per day except ~2 rp finders that take <7 days. they're doing this for free so I think this is a reasonable time.

you can also post yourself in specific tags if you need something faster. some people check those too.

Ask yourself this: are you having fun? Are you still excited about the rp? Or do you think about it and know you’re going to have to pry out a response and your enthusiasm isn’t going to be met, etc. Imo, once it reaches that point, it isn’t worth it. You can’t force that person to be interested and that kind of attitude just isn’t fun to write against. You can use your time to find a writing partner who is more interested

i beg of you...be a little more proactive when someone reaches out to you regarding your ad. i shouldnt have to be drawing the information out of you so we can move things along. it's the quickest way to make someone lose interest and yet you wonder why you have to constantly keep posting your ad and can't retain long term partners.

I’m going onto rp search blogs ive never even known existed to post my ads cause the usual blogs i use are on a hiatus omg. I feel like I posted so many of the same ad because of this. Usually I post on 3 blogs and that’s it, but these ones appear to be less popular so I just kept sending the same ad to all of them … rip

When someone will send me pages on pages of their oc and ideas, I reply enthusiastically, reference specific things they said, comment on everything, ask questions so they can talk more about their stuff, but when I send my oc they just go ‘they’re cool!’ - rp instantly dead. I’m not spending an hour writing out stuff to make sure you feel like your excitement for you muse is being met just for you to not even read mine lmfao.

You also missed mine. But to be fair, I could and should have been much clearer.

I don't think the act of asking someone to double is selfish. I think that A LOT of people who swear by doubling use it as a way to hide their actual self-behavior. Yeah, they agree to double and they might look over your OC. They might even say nice shit and blow smoke up your ass. But when the actual writing needs to be done? Or actual plotting? The only OC and pairing that they actually care about is THEIR OWN. And it's very easy to tell in OOC and their writing.

Honestly, I also wanna ask this....Why do y'all care? This whole debate is so simply solved by minding your own business and liking ads that apply to you. And yes I know people who don't double might like your ads anyway but that's honestly part of the game. Literally happens to everyone.

People are saying it's dumb to expect people to give a shit about your oc if you also actively do not give a shit about theirs lmao. Obviously not every oc or writer is going to be amazing and a lot of them are annoying and shallow, but if you can't stand that so much, why are you writing with them? Put another ad out until you do find someone you actually enjoy writing with and who gives you that effort for your oc too. No one expects you to cheer when your partner gives you half-assed effort for your side of the rp. No one's expecting you to jump for joy when they send their oc bio. Yes, you're more likely to find a writer/oc like that. But you're just wasting your own time and ruining your own rp experience if you're sticking in those rps just to complain about it, hate it, and judge everyone like that, so when you do find a good writer they don't want to spend ages proving themselves till you realise it's worth meeting their effort. There are good writers with great ocs out there that can actually make you care and get invested. It might just be some stranger's stupid oc, but you are, imo, supposed to find yourself interested, caring, and investing, bc that's just what happens when you're collabing with someone and having fun. If not - you aren't having fun, and there's literally no point. Tell your partner it isn't working and try to find someone to make it fun again. That or just don't change and keep hating it, that's literally all you can do lmao.

If I wanted a roleplay, I'd just stick to canon characters. Most OCs are just variations of canon characters anyway.
