INCEPTION (2010) SENTENCE STARTERS
❛ Are you here to kill me? ❜
❛ For this to work, you have to let me in. ❜
❛ If I jumped, would I survive? ❜
❛ I thought you might be missing me. ❜
❛ Killing him would just wake him up… but pain? Pain is in the mind. ❜
❛ You’ve lived up to your reputation. ❜
❛ Every man for himself. ❜
❛ It’s getting worse, isn’t it? ❜
❛ One apology’s all you’re getting. ❜
❛ How would you like to go home? ❜
❛ We should walk away from this. ❜
❛ Assemble your team. And choose your people more wisely. ❜
❛ Be realistic. They’d never understand- they’d lock me up and throw away the key. Or worse. ❜
❛ This is what I have. This is what you taught me. ❜
❛ You told me it would free me. ❜
❛ Come back to reality. Please. ❜
❛ It’s not, strictly speaking, legal. ❜
❛ Our dreams feel real while we’re in them. It’s only when we wake up we realize things were strange, ❜
❛ How did we get here? Where are we? ❜
❛ Mind telling your subconscious to take it easy? ❜
❛ Wake me up! ❜
❛ The only way to wake from inside the dream is to die. ❜
❛ I’m not going to open my mind to someone like that. ❜
❛ I’ve never seen anyone pick it up so fast. ❜
❛ Word is, you’re not welcome in these parts. ❜
❛ You wouldn’t sell me out. ❜
❛ This is your idea of losing a tail? ❜
❛ A dream within a dream? ❜
❛ The only way to know you’ve done the job is if I go in with you. ❜
❛ Do you still dream? ❜
❛ It’s an elegant solution to keeping track of reality. ❜
❛ Why can’t you go home? ❜
❛ They think I killed her. ❜
❛ Your condescension, as always, is much appreciated. ❜
❛ I hope you’ve got something a little more elegant in mind than shooting me in the head like last time. ❜
❛ You know how to find me… you know what you have to do. ❜
❛ You shouldn’t be in here. ❜
❛ In my dreams we’re still together. ❜
❛ But these aren’t just dreams, are they? They’re memories. ❜
❛ What’ve you got buried down there that you regret? ❜
❛ And whatever I do, the dream’s always the same. ❜
❛ Do you know what it is to be a lover? To be half of a whole? ❜
❛ I’ll tell you a riddle. ❜
❛ You’re waiting for a train. A train that will take you far away. You know where you hope this train will take you, but you don’t know for sure. But it doesn’t matter. How can it not matter to you where that train will take you? ❜
❛ You promised! You said we’d be together! ❜
❛ You said we’d grow old together! ❜
❛ I’ll come back. I need you to stay here on your own for now. ❜
❛ You knew the risks and you didn’t tell us. ❜
❛ There wasn’t meant to be any risk. We weren’t supposed to be dealing with a load of gunfire. ❜
❛ Downwards is the only way forwards. We have to carry on. ❜
❛ You’ve got an hour. Get talking. ❜
❛ He loved you. In his way ❜
❛ You’ll have become an old man, filled with regret, waiting to die alone. ❜
❛ You can lose track of what’s real. ❜
❛ It’s not so bad at first, being gods. The problem is knowing that it’s not real. ❜
❛ You don’t know you’re dreaming. ❜
❛ I’m going to jump. And you’re coming with me. ❜
❛ Let’s go back inside and talk about this, please. ❜
❛ I’m asking you to take a leap of faith. ❜
❛ You’re not responsible for the idea that destroyed her. ❜
❛ Shouldn’t be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling. ❜
❛ You must’ve noticed by now how much time [name] spends doing things he says never to do. ❜
❛ My job is to protect you from any attempt to access your mind through your dreams. ❜
❛ You’re not safe here. Trust me. They’re coming for you. ❜
❛ We’re in a dream. ❜
❛ Breathe. Remember the training. ❜
❛ So you… you’re not real? ❜
❛ You know all this, you just have to remember it. ❜
❛ I’ll lead them on a merry chase. ❜
❛ We’re here. Are we clear to proceed? ❜
❛ So that’s it, then? We failed. ❜
❛ Can I trust you to do what’s needed? ❜
❛ An idea is like a virus, resilient, highly contagious, and an idea can grow. ❜
❛ The smallest seed of an idea can grow to define or destroy your world. ❜
❛ So certain of your world. Of what’s real. ❜
❛ I know what’s real. ❜
❛ Admit it. You don’t believe in one reality anymore. ❜
❛ Choose to be here. Choose me. ❜
❛ You judged me for believing the very same thing. ❜
❛ You keep telling yourself what you know, but what do you believe? What do you feel? ❜
❛ You infected my mind. You betrayed me. ❜
❛ You can still keep your promise. We can still be together… right here. ❜
❛ I’m not going to let you lose yourself in here! ❜
❛ I’m the only thing you do believe in anymore. ❜
❛ I’m not capable of imagining you in all your complexity and… perfection. ❜
❛ I miss you more than I can bear, but we had our time together. And now I have to let you go. ❜
❛ I came back for you. I came to remind you of what you once knew. ❜
❛ This world is not real. ❜
❛ You came to convince me to honor our arrangement? ❜

Angsty
❝ We need to talk. ❞
❝ Don’t touch me! ❞
❝ I hope they kill you. ❞
❝ I think you should go. ❞
❝ You’ve done enough. ❞
❝ Nobody can help you now. ❞
❝ Can you do anything right? ❞
❝ How dare you come back here? ❞
❝ You deserve everything you got. ❞
❝ I can’t talk to you about anything. ❞
❝ Would it kill you to just apologize? ❞
❝ Some things just aren’t meant to be. ❞
❝ Shut your mouth and listen for once! ❞
❝ You break every good thing you touch. ❞
❝ You know they don’t care about you, right? ❞
❝ Please listen, I was going to tell you. I just… ❞
❝ I’m ashamed to put your name next to mine. ❞
❝ I should have known better than to trust you. ❞
❝ Your problem is you think you can be forgiven. ❞
❝ Don’t you get tired of making everything worse? ❞
❝ Don’t ask, you’ve already shown me you don’t care. ❞
❝ Did it never occur to you that I’m better off without you? ❞
❝ Meeting you was the worst thing that ever happened to me. ❞
❝ You have some nerve showing your face around here again. ❞
❝ Nothing can fix what you did, because now I see you for what you are. ❞
❝ Maybe one day you’ll find someone who will mourn you when you’re gone.❞
❝ My first mistake was expecting anything from you at all, my second was thinking you would be sorry. ❞
Funny
❝ Is that a dare? ❞
❝ Quick! Act natural! ❞
❝ Look what I bought! ❞
❝ Oh, that was today? ❞
❝ You got a TATTOO?! ❞
❝ That shirt is… a choice. ❞
❝ I was never here, got it? ❞
❝ Ok, but don’t tell [Name]. ❞
❝ Did you forget I was in here? ❞
❝ Wait, garlic bread makes you fat? ❞
❝ I wouldn’t go in there if I were you. ❞
❝ Just trust me, this is going to work. ❞
❝This. This is exactly what it looks like. ❞
❝ Is this supposed to make that noise? ❞
❝ How could I resist a sale? Two for one! ❞
❝ I swear, it was like that when I got here! ❞
❝ I’m going to need you to not ask questions. ❞
❝ Do you always sing like that in the shower? ❞
❝ You don’t want to know what you did last night. ❞
❝ If you get any weird phone calls… No you didn’t. ❞
❝ Sweetheart? Darling? Light of my life? What the fuck. ❞
❝ Don’t look now, but– actually? Don’t look ever. Let’s just go. ❞
❝ You do realize I can see ¾ to 4/5’s of your entire ass, right? ❞
❝ You’re exaggerating, it can’t possibly be– oh. Yeah, this is bad. ❞
❝ You slept together how many times? That’s technically not a bromance. ❞
❝ Listen, I didn’t want to say anything, but your fly was down the entire time. ❞
❝ Before you open the door, let me preface: I’m so sorry, please don’t kill me. ❞

He crouched down, a slight distance from the other so as to stay out of attacking range. He was well aware of the foolishness of approaching strangers like this, but the person had collapsed a little too close to where he was shacked up for his comfort. The last thing he needed was to have cops knocking on his door in search of witnesses to a crime that had nothing to do with him.
“Don’t look at me like that, sweetheart. I didn’t put you there. Do you need me to call someone for you?”

He stepped carefully over a dead body. It appeared that some hunter had cleaned out a vampire nest and hadn’t bothered to clean up after themself. Which wasn’t always a bad thing, especially when the nest was located in a nicely sized house. It was a fresh kill, which meant it would be a few days before anyone noticed something was amiss. This gave him plenty of time to search the place for anything of value.
Hearing the crunch of broken glass underfoot, he whirled around. “Excuse you, I was here first. Find your own house to loot.”

“She is not my employer; I’m a freelancer. And since you’re here, I suppose you don’t have to just give it away.” His tone was mocking at the last few words. His smile faded as his expression smoothed out into the one he put on specifically for business transactions.
“I’ll give you two hundred for it.”
roguecharms:
All cautiousness faded when she admitted the police weren’t coming, and a cocky smirk made its way onto his face at the implication that police weren’t needed.
Filing away the information she had given him for later use, he gave a careless shrug. “Ars Notoria. Rumor has it you’ve got an original copy just lying around gathering dust. I don’t suppose you would be willing to help a poor fellow out.”
“Let’s say I was even the tiniest bit inclined to give you the Ars Notoria.” She folded her arms. He was much too cocky right now. And he’d find out it wasn’t easy to get away with stealing from her.
“If it’s worth stealing, that means it’s worth money. If it’s worth money, then it’s unlikely I’m just going to give it away. If I’m not giving it away, you’re not getting it out of here. So I suggest you leave and tell your employer where he can stick it.”

okay please reblog this if you are happy to write lengthy threads with long, complicated plots and multiple non-player characters, whilst driving the plot forward on a mutually-responsible, mutually-beneficial basis, sometimes winged and sometimes not, using the “yes and” technique to build a story

do you ever just try to find a way to use as few words as possible when talking about your ocs because you don’t want to scare your partners off with your enthusiasm?

“you’re standing in my library at three in the morning holding a knife.” She observed. Really it wasn’t hard. But then again he probably thought she was a rich snob with a rare book collection. This would be fun…
“Oh the police wouldn’t get here in time if I did. I’d hate to say you’d probably be out the window by the time they got here.” Though the way she said it didn’t imply that he would be going out the window of his own free will. “Could you please tell me which one you’re looking for? I hear the Liber Maleficarum has gone up in price recently.”
