will never really allowed himself to worry too much. they were figuring out what life was like in washington dc, having grown up almost their whole life in texas. life was always different, no matter where you went. however, the sun was always around. the sun followed you and will was thankful for this little thought of peace. something to hold onto. they weren't really sure why they liked the sun so much, they imagined it was... maybe a favorite season? the way that he loved music. they're walking around town, a cup of iced chai with no coffee. they were already jittery enough, something about adhd. always being on the move, always looking over their shoulder like something was coming. which was primarily what will had been doing. looking over their shoulder until they bumped into a boy with raven colored hair sorry. "shoot! i'm so sorry." will is already looking at the other, recognition to a zero. he wasn't sure if he actually spilled anything on the other but still the idea wrangled at his stomach. "are you okay? did i ruin your shirt?

"chaos can be fun." nina leans back, head against the wall as she plays with the hem of her skirt. she never minded chaos, never minded the way that it was always a good way to get what she wanted. people didn't think how they normally did when chaos was pursued. people thought about themselves, forgot about their businesses, that they might be carrying a rolex watch on their wrist. chaos was a prime time to hunt. a game of hide and seek, if you will. "what do you have against chaos anyways?"
sidney & nina ( @rocknout )
a sigh left her lips as she ran a hand over her face. sidney was still trying to play catch up with everything she had missed and making sure that everyone was alright. "I hate this place, it's nothing but chaos."

learning things on his own? will thought he would be able to adapt over time. he had his headphones in, dua lipa playing in his head. he had to learn to familiarize himself with the city. the metro existed, different paths existed, there were so many museums that will wanted to sink his teeth in. he's seen the dark academic aesthetic on pinterest and there's the wonder if he could succeed in making that his aesthetic. maybe not - maybe for a day and he would waste too much money on a silly outfit. he wasn't raelly sure what his aesthetic was. "hi, do you know anything about aesthetics?" it was a stupid question. "like what would be your aesthetic, if you were to have one?"

sunday mornings call for iced matcha lattes with boba like monday mornings call for a shaken brown sugar oatmilk. sunday's were for relaxing, expecting the weekend, and will was loving his morning routine. nice walks in the morning, the feeling of the skin heating on his skin - he feels relaxation hitting him all at once. it's almost too nice to be true. there's a paper on the ground, he's unsure if it was dropped from the person in front of him, or if it was dropped from someone else. "hey!" will calls out, tone carefully monitored from those who told him his voice could be s h r i l l sometimes. whatever that meant. "did you drop this?" he scoops to pick up the paper, it's a movie ticket. one barbie movie stub. "it says it's for tonight? for barbie? i know everyone has been talking about that movie."

alicent & anyone
placing the cigarette between her lips the blonde pulled in the smoke - her lungs filling before she gently discarded smoke back out through her lips. “it’s a terrible habit - i’ll be the first to admit.” alicent was honest. “but it’s been helping with the nerves - it’s not like i’m becoming a chain smoker, i have one a week maximum.”
@hiddenstarters
“i know people who have the same habit.” mary response is casual, not a mocking tone in the edge of her voice. she’s been in the partisian streets and seen people hold out cigarettes like nothing. “there’s no judging. you can do you just as i can do me.” mary pauses for a second before leaning in and whispering. “don’t tell my friends but sometimes i do it too. usually it takes a lot to drink or a good concert for me to really commit to my cravings.”

“well, in a sense yes but where i’m from, it’s all done in like one day and then you look like christmas up till the day after.” ginny explained with a nod. it was rough being here this year without her parents, but she did have some of her brothers here and a few others that she knew, so at least she wasn’t completely alone this christmas. “part of me thought about having a small christmas party but after halloween, i don’t think i am really in the party mood.” she smiled sadly. “i’ll settle with watching movies and hanging out with the friends and all that i do have.” she shrugged. “i guess i could, but i feel like it would be kind of boring to do it by myself or with like one of my brothers.”
he’s seen department stores have halloween decorations and the minute the clock strikes twelve, the christmas decoration is scattered everywhere. “they all decorate in one day? that’s an actual thing?” he knows that some people do a little at a time but having everything festive within one day sounds a little chaotic for him. but langa is also sure if he’s with the right crowd of people, it might be fun. “is that what you want to do? decorate?” he could offer to help but he’s not sure that he’ll be any good at it. “i’m sure it’s going to be alright. it’s the holidays and everyone is going to be happy regardless.” the holidays were supposed to be happy. he struggled with them but usually it was the mourning type of sadness. his mom wasn’t here, his father would never be here, and langa realized that for the first time he was actually going to celebrate the holidays on his own. “that’s a good plan.” langa observes. he would probably do the same but add a cup of hot chocolate with the mini marshmallows. “do you prefer either? i’m not much of a holiday tradition person but you could always ask your brother what he wants to do and go from there?”

mcrcki:
it always felt like she was trying to finish a puzzle, but the pieces kept getting up and walking away. losing one piece the second that she would fit another in. but having mary here– merlin it was the spark of joy that she needed. the uplifting relief that would carry her through the holiday season. she didn’t want to pull away, afraid that the moment she let mary slip from her grip, she would disappear all over again. “apparating would be good!” she laughed, still holding her in her arms as she rocked back and forth. it was the first time in a long time that marlene didn’t feel the stress of everything weighing down on her. there was no stress of her family’s secret, of death eaters looming around every corner– nothing. “hold on, you’ve been here? and we haven’t seen you! what in merlin’s name– everyone’s here, mar.” she pulled back a little, her hands still on her friend’s shoulders. “lily and james, dorcas, remus and sirius. pretty much all of the order, save a few– we’ve been waiting on you.” her hands moved to rest on mary’s over her own face, squeezing them a little. “i’m fine. you know me. i’m always fine enough. family is a bloody mess, but what else is new there.” she laughed, pulling her hands down to link fingers, nodding behind her. “here, come on. we’ll go back to mine and we can fill each other in on everything before we subject you to the rest of the marauders.”
there was this unknowing before about wanting to stay in washington d.c. it was like driving, not knowing if one road was desired compared to the other. should she go left where there’s less traffic lights or should she go right where she’s more familiar with the terrain? washington d.c. was a lot like that feeling. it was the uncertainty of wanting to leave or wanting to stay. everytime she thought about it, she always had a second thought that there was something waiting for her and she always chose to stuck it out. now, with marlene; it was enough to WANT to stay. “a few weeks, yeah. i had enough time to open up that tea and pastry shop that i’ve talked everyone’s ear off. it’s a few streets-- QUOI?” she switches tongue quickly and just as fast, mary corrects herself. she doesn’t care anymore about her shop. she doesn’t care that she accomplished a dream and made it a reality. joy brightens across mary’s face at marlene’s truth. “everyone’s here? in washington dc?” she sucks in a breath with eyes fully widened. it’s like her life has had all the doors flown open, a surprise that she wasn’t expecting but feeling again, like a holiday miracle. she shakes her head to get her out of her stupor, trying to tame her emotional shock before it does any true damage. “how didn’t i run into any of you sooner? i’ve been running around these streets like a mad woman. i’ve done so much shopping and i haven’t seen anyone?” she shakes her head and quickly, she thrusts the muggle contraction out of her pocket and into her hands. “no, no - wait. please tell me you have a cellphone first. it’s a wonderous thing. we can talk on it whenever we want. we don’t need...” she pulls her face into marlene’s ear to finish the sentence. “magic. we can just talk to each other when we want. it’s a bloody miracle.” that was another factor that mary was adjusting too. the complexity and the excitement of muggle inventions. “please, it’s going to be like feeding me to the dogs and i need to at least make an apology cookie for taking so long. i didn’t know that you were all here too and now i feel like a fool for finally showing my face.” she isn’t sure where marlene lives but it doesn’t stop her from grabbing hold of marlene’s hand, giving it a gentle swing as if they were back in the halls of hogwarts, swinging hands and bumping shoulders while their laughter ran rampant.
#i hope the last sentence is okay. i was going off of how smoothly their thread is going and i assumed.#if it needs to be changed just lmk and there's no worries!#m. macdonald

it wasn’t rare for lily to walk home at the end of the day, appreciating the air (even if it was rather cold by this point in the year) to relax a little before she could fully settle for the night. she’d been slowly making her way back, shooting james a text that she was on her way, when the sound up her name caused her to pause. turning, lily paused for a moment, before her eyes widened. “bloody hell, mary?” she surprised look turned into a grin and lily couldn’t help but laugh, moving forward and pulling mary in for a hug, careful not to crush the cup of tea the other was holding. she had the instinct to ask if mary was freezing, since they could definitely find some sort of shop to go in, but luckily there were more important things on lily’s mind that stopped her from immediately rushing in and acting like the mother she was. “i can’t believe it. how long have you been here? i swear, it’s like i’ve run into everyone i’ve met ever but you.” it was a relief, seeing mary here now and knowing just about everyone she cared about was here in the city, alive and together regardless of whatever things would happen. there could be some sort of a fresh start.
“surprise?” it was as much as a surprise to her as she assumed it was for lily. it was one of the reasons that mary tried to avoid them, nervous that one day something would flourish in front of her that she wouldn’t like and wouldn’t know how to mask her expression. surprises were either good or bad and mary always yearned for the goodness in life. she is quick to wrap an arm around the other wanting to cuddle her way closer towards the other but the threat of her tea was too high. lily didn’t deserve the wrath of a hot tea spillage and mary also wanted to hang onto the only warmth that she possessed in that moment. “it’s been a few weeks. it’s been an adventure to say the least but i’ve ran into marlene! have you seen her? i’m shocked, i didn’t think that a lot of us would end up in america.” she speaks with awe, not realizing how many of them have actually shown up. it wasn’t a coincidence to her yet, it wasn’t strange to her yet, mary was just accepting things as they were. “there’s so much we need to catch up on. i want to know more about how you’ve been doing, what you’ve been up to...” mary stalls, pulling away from the hug but still curling herself around lily’s arm. “do you have a moment? i can bring you over to my little shop. it’s warm and i can at least hear you up a cup of tea.”

jack almost instantly broke out into a smile. while he was still very much learning fairly general concepts, he was starting to understand the difference between plain out lying and teasing more with each passing day. “ i would believe that if you were capable of that, ” he chuckled. never mind the fact that he honestly just thought she was much too nice to do something like that. “ no, i wouldn’t lie to you, ” he stated, perhaps a bit too seriously. “ but i would like to try a gingerbread cookie! ” he exclaimed excitedly, only pausing shortly to tilt his head slightly before actually reaching out for one. “ — if you’re sure? ”
mary never showed her rebellious side. she didn’t like to flaunt what she did on weekend nights out of nervousness that people would think differently at her. some people acted one way and they had hobbies that would normally clash with their shown aesthetic. “do you want to consider that option again?” there’s a sickly sweet smile like she’s telling jack that she knows something that he isn’t. she is capable of doing such but it was jack. maybe had it been anyone else she might consider putting toothpaste into the cookie. “i’m positive.” she doesn’t second guess herself as she options the plate out to the other already knowing that she was going to make jack a ‘to-go’ plate. it’s not something she does often but with the holiday season, she found herself baking a lot of extras out of fear of selling out.

staring at mary in amusement, he’d leaned against the shelves to see how long it took his friend to notice him. the wizard burst out laughing at the others reaction, nearly doubling over in his amusement. “bloody hell, macdonald. took you long enough to realize it’s me. but yes, actually here, raised from the dead like the miracle i always knew that i was.”
"oi! you could have said something earlier.” she flicks the grocery list at the other and gives her best scowl. she shouldn’t be surprised that by james reaction but she could pretend to be annoyed. in all honesty, she was relieved to see him, happy even. seeing a familiar face right before the holidays was a miracle on its own that she was thankful for. “i want you to know that you are forbidden from having any cookies now.” her scolding is weak. she knows the truth and it’s that she’ll still make spare cookies for all her friends, including james. she wouldn’t actually give him nothing. “i think your ego is still getting to you.” she laughs because his words haven’t struck her yet. death has a lingering shadow that hasn’t crept up on her yet because she didn’t know about the harsh truth that came to a great deal of her friends. to mary, everyone was still happy and the holidays were nearing. to mary, the world was still merry and bright.

this was something nini hadn’t really talked to anyone about before. she’d talked to kourtney about it a little, but that was the extent of it, really. perhaps opening up to someone who didn’t know either of them helped. and it definitely was a plus that he wasn’t judging. as much as nini hated to admit it, she didn’t like disappointing people. she knew it was inevitable sometimes, especially when it came to her own wrongdoings, but it was the truth. “ she didn’t, which makes it a thousand times worse, ” she admitted. “ i just thought she did and — retaliated, i guess? clearly, i didn’t think things through, ” she said, as she forced a chuckle. “ what about you? what’s the worst thing you’ve ever done? ”
truths were a dangerous game. they possessed the vulnerable state of honesty and putting oneself in a compromising position. langa doesn’t lie but he also doesn’t state his truths often. he’s used to being on the backburner and that friend that’s more of a shoulder to lean on compared to seeking comfort in others. “you’re right, that is pretty bad.” he doesn’t snort or laugh, but he tucks the amusement away because the story didn’t go as expected. it’s the moment of a plot twisting. “did she end up getting it back or did you keep it as a souvenir?” he wouldn’t have done what she done but he also wasn’t her and she wasn’t him. everyone reacts differently but it’s how they fix their problems that makes them redeemable. “oh god.” he rubs his fingers through his hair because now it’s his time to be vulnerable. “i haven’t done anything like that but i think it’s whenever i board... i always put everything i have at risk. if i had a house or a nice car, i would probably wager it in a bet of winning. it doesn’t bring me as much happiness as it used to but i think i’m still good enough to do something stupid like that.”

@rocknout (langa)
“it seems every morning i wake up, the town is looking more and more like the holidays.” ginny replied, sighing a bit. “i feel like this holiday is bitter sweet. my mom or dad isn’t here but i do have some family here. so, i guess we could still celebrate, right?
“i think that’s normal?” he’s a little confused by what she means originally. the holidays are when people decorate and start getting festive. some people prefer the winter holidays over the spooky seasons and langa doesn’t mind. there’s something refreshing in seeing different holiday lights flicker as he walks, skates, or passes by. it’s the explanation of what she says that gets to him. it’s understandable now and langa nods his head along to her words. “i know what you mean.” his dad isn’t around anymore and putting it simply, his dad wouldn’t be returning in this life. he knows how hard the holidays can hit but he also knows the importance of moving on. “i think you’re more right than you know.” he gives a single shoulder shrug and crams his hands into the pockets of his jacket. “have you considered carrying on with some of your families traditions while being here?”

@rocknout / winter event starter for victor & langa
“have you skated before?” victor asked, unable to help himself as he turned towards the other man near the rink. he had barely been off the ice since arriving at the market, perhaps a testament to how much he missed it these days, but he also liked getting other people involved, seeing them try it out. “it’s really not that hard as long as you have just a slight sense of balance. i don’t know why people will be nervous to give it a shot.” he said with a short laugh.
“not on the ice.” langa gives a small skeptical look at the skates and wonders if this is closer towards skiing compared to his life on the board. he couldn’t help watching, seeing how other skaters moved so fluidly and easily. skating was less dancing, more speed. “i’m used to boarding.” the stranger could take it as on the snow or on the ground, neither was wrong, and both gave him a chilly thrill of sorrow and happiness. “i think it has something to do with walking and moving on blades compared to boards or skis bigger than your feet.” it was an observation that made langa slightly nervous. the first time he started skateboarding he had to basically glue the board to his feet. “i could give it a shot but it would probably be ugly. i would be gripping the wall the entire time.”

“what’s the point in decorating a cookie that’s either going to crumble or get eaten?” tommy’s eyes cast across a display of gingerbread cookies. it seems wasteful. the icing doesn’t offer a lot of flavoring and they’re only going to get destroyed within a matter of seconds. it’s like the michelin star restaurants. the food will get eaten, the art isn’t that important. @lcnelyhearted / ~ & ( lydia & tommy)

mcrcki:
she’d been tucked up into her scarf, fighting with her gloves and too many layers as she made her way down the street, needing to run errands before heading home. the only reason she hadn’t just apparated right home, back to the warmth and comfort of her apartment, was because she needed to get these done first. christmas was in less than two weeks and she had nothing purchased. she had a million people to buy for and she hadn’t even started to think about what to get. but as she yanked her gloves back on after tucking her phone back into one of many pockets, she felt her shoulder collide with another, ready to offer out an apology when a familiar voice hit her ears, her name catching her attention. “oh– shit, holy shit–” she grinned seeing mary standing before her, barely having time to process the last of her best friends finally being here before mary was in her arms. pulling the other girl into her arms, she was sure her grip was crushing to say the least. “for merlin’s fucking sake mary! honestly! what took you so bloody long! i can’t believe you’re here!”
mary never witnessed her own christmas miracle until marlene barged into her life. she always heard of them from word of mouth or books that she’s read, but mary would deeply consider marlene to be a miracle that she was waiting for. the biting cold was no longer a worry or frustration on her mind. there was this thrill rushing through her in knowing that she was seeing one of her best friends and that she was no longer alone. joie de noël. “i wasn’t sure whether to take the metro or the train?” she lets out a small laugh at her joke, her head shaking in the shock at seeing the other. she tightens her grip around the other so her head is bent into the others scarf and she takes a deep breath. “i’ve been here for some time. i didn’t know that you were here or anyone else was here. it’s been different and interesting but mierd. enough about me.” she takes hold of marlene’s face in her hands, watching over her face as she eyes the other as a mother would. “how are you? are you doing okay? because it’s so, so, SO, good to see you. i miss you and i know i’ve always wanted to travel with everyone but showing up to a whole different country and running into you out of the blue isn’t my definition of a road trip.”
