Priscilla is getting a lot of flack because before Lisa Marie died she had problems with her estate and there were emails allegedly leaked between her and Sofia that Lisa was unhappy with the script of the Priscilla movie because it portrayed Elvis is a vengeful way

I did hear of the emails Lisa had apparently written to Sofia quite some time ago, now let’s get the facts straight.

I applaud Sofia for taking on such a controversial topic and making it into a film. Priscilla’s story is quite turbulent and complex but i’ll try to break it down here.

Priscilla Beaulieu and Elvis Presley's relationship began in Germany in 1959 when they met while Presley was serving in the army. Presley was 24, and Beaulieu was just 14. Presley's manager, Colonel Parker, introduced the two, telling Presley that Beaulieu was 19. At the time, Beaulieu was dating a boy from her German high school, and she and Presley initially bonded over their shared love of music. However, as their relationship developed, Beaulieu's mother became concerned about the age difference between her daughter and Presley and encouraged her to break it off. Despite her mother's advice, Beaulieu continued to see Presley and eventually moved to the United States to be with him, even though she was still a minor. Over time, their relationship became increasingly volatile, with reports of Presley's temper and substance abuse. Beaulieu eventually left Presley in 1972, but the couple never officially divorced. They remained in each other's lives until Presley's death in 1977, and Beaulieu went on to have a successful career in the entertainment industry. The controversy surrounding their relationship stems from the fact that Presley began dating Beulieu when she was a minor, and their relationship was marred by claims of domestic abuse. Additionally, the way in which her family allowed her to leave Germany and move to the United States to be with Presley has been criticized, and the couple's relationship has been the subject of many books and documentaries over the years.

Many people romanticize Elvis and Priscilla’s “love” story when it was everything but that. Priscilla was groomed by Elvis and was quite controlling during their relationship. He mentally abused her and shaped her to his liking. Her talents were outshined by Elvis’s fame and influence. She was a successful businesswoman and fashion icon whose importance has been greatly diminished.

There is no vengeance here, only the fact that Elvis was abusive, he had plenty of substance abuse issues and mental health issues.

Priscilla was the co-founder to and former chairperson of Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE) and the composer that turned Graceland into one of the the most successful tourist attractions in the U.S.

She did not leech off of Elvis, she had/has every right to the money earned through Graceland and Elvis’s image which she contributed towards making, maintaining and selling.

While I acknowledge the struggles that Priscilla experienced in her marriage to Elvis, I also recognize his talent and the role that he and his family have played in shaping popular culture. While I may not agree with his personal life, I can appreciate his artistry and the impact it has had on society. While I adore Elvis' music and talent, I also support the telling of stories that uplift women and give a voice to victims. It's important to acknowledge the complexities of individuals and their contributions to the world.
