Top 3 Voltaire pictures(as in paintings, drawings, engravings, etc) !!!!!!!!
Oooh this one's hard, there's a few really good ones but there's also a lot that are favorites just because they're funny.
Obviously one of them has to be Largillière's portrait though. Look at him!!! he's so pretty!! I also love how fancy he is here, cause the later portraits don't have that as much.
Taking a turn from that, in second place we have Grandma V:
Really I could put any of Huber's paintings of him here, cause they're all like that (by "that" I mean weird old V posing awkwardly in giant coats and hats). But I like this one because What is he even doing.
Third is a close tie, but I really like this engraving of the first portrait I put being painted. He had it painted for his mistress Mlle de Livry, who's the one next to him fixing his wig. The portrait was done when he was 24-ish, but that there's a story that when he visited Livry when he went back to Paris right before he died, she still had it hanging up and that she gave it to him. (I say story bc Besterman referred to it as a legend, but that's the only place I've seen someone suggest it isn't true)

In case anyone here is interested/can read French, a friend of mine is running a crowd funder for a comic she's made about Voltaire and Rousseau
Im sure it's gonna be hilarious (cos sorry these two together just are) and I can't wait 😁 It'll also be informative ofc~
Some info from the page:
She doesn't share any art from the comic on the campaign, but Ive seen some previews and it looks lovely! Here's some snippets of her art/bd style from IG:
lol Voltaire looking so smug
I hope this reaches anyone who might be interested! 😄
