idk who exactly on this tag needs to hear this but it’s definitely a lot of you:
it is perfectly okay for a fanfic writer to have Mike and Will having physical and sexual thoughts about each other. They are teenagers and it completely normal for allosexual and even acespec teenagers to have sexual thoughts about the person or people they like. Yes adult fanfic writers can do this too it’s literally not weird as long as it’s written respectfully and accurately, and I’m actually so fucking tired of all this discourse that is so clearly rooted in people feeling uncomfortable with two boys being sexually attracted to each other, or even queer teenagers in general having sexual thoughts about each other.
I do think it’s weird to write explicit sex scenes between minors and especially in this case when these characters are represented by real people with real bodies who were minors while filming the vast majority of the show, but honestly anything suggestive between two 14/15 year olds and up that’s not explicit and/or sexualized is normal. And before any of you come at me saying I’m sexualizing minors, you can fuck right off bc I am 17 and I am sick and tired of teenagers and especially queer teenagers being shamed for sexual thoughts that are perfectly normal.
I understand if you personally are not comfortable reading and writing anything suggestive, that is fine bc I have a solution for you! Wanna guess what it is??
Just. Don’t. Read it.
If it’s content u don’t like, simply don’t interact!!! No one is forcing you to read or write anything that you don’t want to, so simply don’t. It’s that easy 😱
I will say though, that if reading an even vaguely suggestive thought in a byler fic makes you extremely uncomfortable, maybe you should take a moment to ask yourself why that is. Bc love between teenagers is not all fluffy and pure and innocent, and its honestly way weirder to have that ideal than to write teens having sexual thoughts, so maybe do some self reflection. If you’re ace and suggestive content in general makes u feel weird then that’s different, but if that’s not the case then if you’re allo and u still feel this way… idk just take a moment to check and see if you’re internalizing anything before complaining about it and spreading legitimately harmful discourse.
So, to recap:
-it’s normal for teenagers to have suggestive thoughts about each other and it’s normal to write it
-writing teenagers having sexual thoughts and making out with each other is not sexualizing, fellow queer ppl who think this literally why do u hate ur community so much 😑
-anything short of an explicit smut scene between minors is fine as long as it’s done accurately and respectfully
-it is still weird to write explicit smut in the byler fandom specifically (and any other ship between teens in ST) just bc you’d be describing the bodies of real people that were minors until very recently with actors who have stated that they’re not comfortable being sexualized like that, but first and foremost…
-…if something makes you uncomfortable or you don’t like it, simply don’t interact
-stop shaming queer teenagers for being physically attracted to each other, and stop idealizing teenage queer love as something completely pure and innocent, if you’re going to do that, please keep it to yourself
If after reading this post you 1). want to block me bc you think this whole post was sexualization or 2). plan to use this argument as an excuse to actually sexualize minors and write hardcore explicit smut between them, block me. Weird reformed purity culture is not welcome on my blog and neither are people who enjoy sexualizing minors. Fuck you ❤️
#i agree with all of this#fuck purity culture#and stop pretending queer teenagers cant experience sexual feelings#sincerely a queer teenager

no, you didn’t “know” noah schnapp was gay before he came out. no, he’s not “zesty”, “fruity” or “girlypop”. no, he’s not bisexual or lying for attention because he loves zendaya. you are just an asshole.

It just pisses me off the amount of homophobia and general insensitivity towards Noah I've seen since yesterday. So allow me to give everyone a few reminders.
Just because Noah doesn't wear make up or have a high pitched voice or wear feminine clothing does not mean he's faking it. It does not mean he lied about being gay. How he acts and speaks and dresses does not determine his sexuality...his attraction to MEN does. Gay men can wear snapbacks too. Gay men can be gymbros too. Gay men can be cringey little frat boys too [affectionate]. There is no specific way to be gay. Stop perpetuating stereotypes. Also, just because he thought Zendaya was pretty is not proof that he's "faking it and is actually bisexual." Saying he's in denial and he's really bisexual after he explicitly called himself gay is so disrespectful and you're invalidating his sexuality and trying to act like you know him and his feelings better than himself.
Making jokes about his best friend running him over and hate crimeing him immediately after he came out is NOT FUNNY AT ALL. Not only is it just tone deaf and disrespectful to Noah and taking away from his moment, but it is disrespectful to Millie and their friendship as well. Those homophobic Millie jokes expired 6 fucking years ago. PLEASE give it a rest. Millie loves Noah and she is NOT homophobic. Seems like y'all are just projecting your own bigotry onto her at this point.
Noah being gay does not mean he wasn't acting during Will's scenes. His and Will's experiences will not be the same just because they're both gay. Saying "he wasn't acting here" really is just disrespectful to him and undermining his talent. He is not Will. Will is not him. The only thing they have in common is their sexuality. But they are different people with different experiences and SOME similarities. He portrayed Will beautifully because he is a great actor who can tap into his character and who for the most part gets what Will is going through and could translate that into his scenes...he didn't portray Will beautifully because he's gay and Will is gay. Please be serious. You wouldn't say stuff like this about straight actors who plays straight characters.
Stop saying shit like "he's girlypop" or "we knew" or "the closet was glass" that is insensitive as fuck. And the next straight girl I see call him a twink, fruity, or girlypop is getting karate chopped in the fucking throat. And while we are on the topic of straight girls, stop posting videos of you crying and screaming because Noah is gay. Him finally being confident and comfortable enough to share that part of himself with everyone is not a loss for you. It is a win for HIM. Stop trying to make his coming out about you.
AND TO ALL THE STRAIGHT GIRLS AND MIDDLE AGED GAY MEN MAKING JOKES ABOUT NOAH BEING A BOTTOM, THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR YOU PEOPLE. THAT BOY IS 18 AND FRESHLY CAME OUT. LEAVE HIM ALONE. STOP SEXUALIZING HIM FFS.
Saying Noah must be in love with Finn just because Noah is gay and Finn plays his love interest on the show is fucking weird. Gay people don't just fall in love with everyone of the same sex. Noah being gay and being friends with Finn does NOT mean he has feelings for him. Please be fucking serious.
And to the Nillie shippers throwing a fucking fit and acting a fool...get tf over it. Y'all never should have been shipping real life people to begin with.
Just some reminders for people since I've been seeing a lot of people being really fucking rude and weird towards Noah.

I wish people wouldn't say they "already knew" a person was queer before they came out though. Let's not forget that a personality doesn't determine a sexuality. Stereotypes can be harmful.

Hi, coming back for a sec to say that I am so incredibly proud of Noah Schnapp. I cannot even fathom how terrifying it would have been to come out to millions of people (considering I can’t even tell my own parents), but to see a young gay man playing a gay character in arguably the biggest tv show in the world right now has really lifted my spirits, and I can’t say I didn’t shed a tear. The byler fanbase was the first queer community I was ever a part of and to see Noah speaking his truth is really full circle for me. Lots of love to all the queer people out there who have found community in the byler, and more broadly the stranger things fanbase, I’m so grateful to all of you for helping me come to terms with my own sexuality and am forever indebted to you.
M xx

a little rant about ST S4
I’ve been waiting to share my honest thoughts on season 4, because I hoped I would be more impressed with volume 2, but now that I’ve seen it, I’m not impressed - I’m shocked. From the beginning this season has surprised me. Sidelining main characters, overdoing the action, trying to do too much at once, engaging in stereotypes and tropes they have never used and actually avoided before, slightly bending their own canon, and the immense cringy-ness that was somewhat controlled before seemed to overtake everything on the screen. The cleverness was gone. The editing, especially the sound, was grotesquely overdone. The beautiful writing that I loved so much was gone - everything felt flat. The character development was at an all time low. It was incredibly repetitive - and if i’m being completely honest, I was bored watching parts of the season.
Everything I loved about season 1, everything that made it what it was, is completely gone. This has been my least favorite season of the show, and quite honestly, has diminished my interest in it vastly.
2 creators who stole the whole premise of this show from another student in their class at film school who wrote a script called “Montauk” (which is what the show was originally called), and have been taking content from other movies and shows to build their show in its entirety ever since…no wonder they let us down. And I don’t just mean with byler, I mean with everything. No character or plot-line was done justice this season.
And as far as byler goes, Stranger Things had the potential and power to portray ground-breaking, actually positive lgbtq+ representation to a mass audience in a show set during a homophobic time period, but instead they chose to employ and reinforce negative, stereotypical, cheap queer tropes such as unrequited pining, and refusing to address sexuality in dialogue - “gay” isn’t a dirty word, please don’t make it seem like one, and by using queer characters as a plot device to further straight relationships, especially after heavily queer-coding the first 3 seasons, and intentionally leading fans on through social media. They knew what they were doing.
We don’t know what will happen in season 5, and things could very well still change, and I will hold out hope for that. But regardless of the way things end in season 5, whether byler ends up happening or not, the way they handled this season was horrible. Shame on you duffer brothers & netflix.
