Final Choice
"Growth - A Self Portrait"
I decided to represent a celebration of the self growth I have been through over the past few years, so went for a tuxedo as my outfit and created a mask with a knitted balaclava and plastic flowers. The process of taking the photo was quite difficult with not being able to see, so I got some help from my friend once the tripod had been set up.
As an extremely indecisive person I decided to go with 2 portraits, and I feel like they compliment each other.
At the beginning of this year I started a project on the history of masks and more specifically the transformation that happens when the wearer becomes anonymous and their persona changes. I have found a lot of pleasure in creating masks for other subjects, but this is the first mask I have made to be be worn by myself.

Quick sketch of concept before making mask - Originally wanted to have more foliage growing from my sleeves but decided against it as it was almost impossible to set up self timer and get into position with no hands in time..

Inspiration - Brooke Di Donato
(This was my main source of inspiration, love the overall mood of Brooke's surreal portraits, the posing and the colour schemes. They all make me a tiny bit uncomfortable but done in a way with a sense of humour)
