When you sit in a kayak, it‘s an incredible feeling to see an alligator just a few feet away from you. On top of that, it was my very first alligator in the wild. Phil, Canoe Escape‘s guide, told us: „Don‘t worry, they won‘t do anything, they‘ll swim away in case they feel you get too close.“ Good to know. We saw about 40 gators on Hillsborrough River near Tampa that day on a 4.5-mile stretch of the river.
