i take care of other people. i chase them when they need it, i follow up on their paper cuts, i am always waiting for open arms. he was one of those i ran myself to bone for. he never seemed to have time to reciprocate.

i don’t know how to explain what it feels like to run and look behind and see nobody coming after you. i spent so many nights waiting for him or really anybody to reach out to me that they all blend together. i thought about how many times i stayed up for somebody else - for him, of course - and hoped he was sleeping well. 

once while drunk, i asked him what would happen if i left. he shrugged. “dunno. you’ll be gone, i guess.”

Hjálparfoss (whose name means Helping Falls) is a double waterfall that is split over two separate flumes that joins at its base.  The falls are situated in Fossá river in Þjórsádalur.  The surrounding area is a remnant of various eruptions from Iceland’s most active volcanoe, Hekla.
