When we choose growth over perfection, we immediately increase our shame resilience. Improvement is a far more realistic goal than perfection. Merely letting go of unattainable goals makes us less susceptible to shame. When we believe "we must be this" we ignore who or what we actually are, our capacity and our limitations. We start from the image of perfection, and of course, from perfection there is nowhere to go but down.

Overheard
It was a calm Thursday morning. I arrived early to my client’s home and was sitting in my car scrolling through my phone with my windows slightly rolled down. A car parks next to me in the parking lot with a couple inside. I think nothing of it. A few minutes pass and then a woman starts yelling & the man starts yelling. I’m minding my business and have no clue what it is they’re yelling about. After 15 minutes or so she storms off and begins to use her phone. The man then rolls down his window and begins to yell across the lot, “WHO ARE YOU TEXTING NOW YOU SKANK!” I’m sitting there like “oh shit, activate your poker face, mind yaaa business” He then reversed in a flash and through the other window yells at her, “BYE BITCH!” THIS MAN LEFT HOMEGIRL IN THE PARKING LOT! I wonder what happened?did he ever come back? Does she live in the neighborhood? Did they make up? I may never go out.

I always wondered if people that would hold these arrows naturally had the ability to spin those things around. Some have it & some have to learn it. This was a group of men practicing their twirling skills. Very impressive and my respects to them!

outrageous road rage
As someone who drives around for most of the day I get to see A LOT of other drivers, things around the city, and plenty of ROAD RAGE than most people. I’m observant by nature and by profession so I take plenty of mental notes of everyone around me, particularly on the road. This will be a way to track all the little things I see...
