Blessed are Those who Mourn for They Shall be Comforted (CCF Sunday Service)
How do we feel the blessings even if we are mourning? This preaching explained that even in our mourning, God finds ways to bless and comfort us.
Bible Verses
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. - John 10:10

Legit Happiness is knowing that God has specific ways in life that if you follow Him, you’ll have Legit Happiness even in the midst of suffering because you and I matter to Him.
If you want happiness, follow God’s way because you’re important to Him.
Follow God’s Way: (W)ise up, (A)sk God, (Y)ield to God’s way of comforting
Mourn comes from a Greek word that means “to lament for the death of someone you care so much for” or “an extreme grief”
Mourning is not just crying or grieving. Real mourning involves pondering, thinking, and meditating.
The happiness that Christians experience is not just emotional. It is something that has been thought about and was processed correctly. It is a joy with a strong foundation.
The word “amuse” means “not to think”. To muse means to think. A museum is a place to think, to observe. A-muse means “not to think” hence the amusement parks serve as entertainment.
“To mourn is to think...amusement is to avoid thinking.”
To repent is to make a choice between God and our pleasure.
To mourn is to cut off everything that we are repenting for.
God comforts us with His presence that we may comfort others too.
God the Father is our Comforter. Jesus is our Comforter.
As we meditate and ask God, we meditate on His presence and promises.
The Triune God comforts us with His presence, promises, and people.
I am okay is usually what broken people say.
Entrust your life to God and claim your blessings.
It’s not what they say, claim, or know but how they have live it.
First fruit of Christian life is true happiness.
There is blessing in every mourning.
Follow God’s way while you’re mourning.

True Happiness (CCF Sunday Service)
Last Sunday, June 24, 2018, CCF Taytay opened a new series entitled “Legit. Get Real. Break Free.” The first of this series is about True Happiness.
Bible Verses:
Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. – Psalm 90:2
So he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet. – John 13:4-5a
Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under His power, and that He had come from God and was returning to God. - John 13:3

Blessed comes from the Greek word “Makarios” meaning (1) Divine joy, perfect happiness, (2) Inner satisfaction that does not depend on outward circumstances, (3) Graciously approved and favored by God.
Matthew chapter 5 to 7 has the Beatitudes and teachings of Jesus to have a blessed life.
The question is: (1) Do you know where you came from? (2) Where you are going? (3) How to get there?
4 kinds of poor:
(1) Poor as a result of some kind of calamity. Ex. widows, widowers, and orphans, those who have lost a spouse or parent and therefore don’t have a breadwinner to provide for them. Also those who have been incapacitated by illness, disease, or by an accident---for example, people who are left blind or lame and thus unable to be productive in the workplace.
(2) Poor because of oppression or exploitation. Ex. slaves or people often became poor through exploitation by government. Also by criminals, who steal from and harm others in order to enrich themselves.
(3) Poor because of slothfulness or laziness.
(4) Poor are those who are poor for righteousness. Ex. People who have entered into ministry situations who have skills that otherwise would make them capable of earning a better livelihood. They have made a conscious decision to forgo the acquisition of material wealth and riches for the sake of the kingdom of God and for the sake of serving others.
We are poor only in comparison with others.
The question is to whom do you compare yourself with?
Pride makes people think they can save themselves.
Poor in spirit came from the word “Ptochos” meaning (1) cringing, cowering like a beggar, (2) absolute poverty apart from God, (3) not related to one’s financial situation, (4) deeply humble attitude of peaceful dependence on God.
Symptoms of fake happiness: (1) Lie to ourselves - (1.1) It gives us false satisfaction, (1.2) It gives us false security, (1.3) It gives us false fame, (1.4) Thus, we live a lie so we can boast
(2) Obsessed with self or egocentric people – (2.1) sees self as superior, (2.2) critical, complaining, (2.3) looks for someone to blame,(2.4) unforgiving; seeks retribution, (2.5) overly concerned with reputation, (2.6) does not take suggestions or correction well, (2.7) relies more on own ways, not God’s ways, and (2.8) anemic prayer life
(3) Steal from others and (4) Take others for granted
Fake happiness results to lost and the same is true in matters of Faith.
When we are lost, remember GPS: God’s Precious Son, God’s Promises through the Son, God’s Purpose for our Salvation
Some of God’s gifts include Wisdom, Strength, Provision, Hope, and Vindication.

Feeling at Home in a Foreign Land: OFW’s help fellow Filipinos abroad
Traveling is one of the countless bonding I enjoy with my family. We’re lucky to always find promo tickets for flights both domestic and abroad. We took our time well to make the most out of our every trip. We checked for available maps and read directions in those countries to avoid getting lost.
However, no matter how many times we analyze the guide directions and map, it’s still confusing. We always avoid the last option of hailing a taxi cab to save more pocket money. In these moments, we are fortunate to seek help from selfless OFWs we met along the way.
In Singapore, we met a Filipina who immediately greeted us in Filipino and made us feel at home. She pointed us to where we asked for and she also suggested affordable food stalls near our accommodation. We didn’t know the hawker area in Singapore is just a 5-7 minute walking distance. Thanks to her, we saved a lot in our budget for our food and we got to choose for more array of meals since the hawker area is similar to a wide food court.
In Hong Kong, we decided to compare the exchange rates and find the best offer. Even a little discrepancy in cents spells a huge difference in converting Philippine peso to Hong Kong dollar or vice versa. As my little brother is analyzing the rates in a money exchange we dropped, the staff noticed us and called our attention. She is an OFW too and explained that our peso has less value if we exchange it for HK dollar, it’s better to do it instead back in the Philippines. “Mababa na po talaga palitan pag dito, sa Pilipinas po sana kayo nagpapalit ng lahat kasi medyo mataas doon.”, she told us. We appreciated her tips because if she cared more about their daily earnings, she would encourage us to change our peso but she thought more of us, thus she gave that suggestion.
In Macau, we planned to explore the ruins of St.Paul church but we don’t know how to go there. Although we asked the hotel receptionist, the streets are confusing for they look similar every corner and turn. Good enough, we saw an OFW and asked for directions. She did not only pointed us how to go to the ruins but she accompanied us going to it. She also guided us to other tourist attractions nearby. We told her that it is inconvenient for her but she insisted to be with us. It was around 7:30am in the morning when we saw her and she told us she just ended her shift from work so she is not in a hurry. She works as a bartender in a hotel and her name is Angel Neeque. She looks younger than me, probably early 20s, and there she is, a diligent OFW and a selfless Filipina helping out her fellow kababayan. Thanks to her, we didn’t get lost and wasted time going to the ruins of St. Paul Church.
In our travel experiences abroad, I realized Filipinos are truly hospitable and courteous wherever we are around the world. Kudos to our OFW’s, our unsung heroes, for going out of their way to extend their helping hand to anyone who are in need.
I do hope that in our little ways too, we always look after each other whether we are here in our country or overseas. Let’s always make any place feels home for every Filipino we meet.

Hillsong Concert Experience: A Night of Praise and Worship
Two years ago, I watched Hillsong concert in Araneta Coliseum. It was an ecstatic experience and I promised to sing with them again the next time they will be here in Manila.
Fast forward to 2018, Becca Music announced they will have a 2-night concert of Hillsong United and Hillsong Young and Free. Due to the fast selling of tickets, they decided to open another night, making it a 3-night concert(June 14, 15, and 16). I plan to go there with a friend. I just had a strong gut feeling to invite her for that concert.
We wanted to go to June 15 but the tickets are not available anymore so we opted for June 14 instead. We both remind each other of the date. I am excited too because I last saw my dear friend last year, it’s a great chance for us to catch up too.
At around 2 pm, we met each other in Gateway. It feels like we just saw each other last week because of the endless conversation we had. She is a Christian too so it’s nice to share our spiritual journey. At around 3:30 pm we queued in line at the gate of Araneta. Since our ticket is free seating, it’s best to be early to choose a better spot in the concert. At 6:00 pm, they opened the gates, scanned our tickets, and let us in. We choose a center spot in the upper box. It’s a good view for us.
As minutes pass by, more people and filling up Araneta Coliseum, it was past 8 pm when the concert started. From that moment forward, we lost track of time.
We just sang our hearts out with every song. For the upbeat songs, we simply moved to the rhythm of the music and jumped with joy. It was pure euphoria because of celebration, praise, worship, and gratitude to God.
Hillsong Young and Free performed for the first set and the remaining set was Hillsong United. I am thankful for their reminders too about the love of God and how Jesus Christ became our Savior to save us from our sins and reunite with Him.
Each song has lyrics putting me to tears as I remember moments how God helped, restored, and turned my life around. The songs are reminders too of my endless gratitude for God.
One of the best moments that night is when Araneta Coliseum dimmed in low lights and almost everyone lift up their phones to share its light. It was similar to a night sky full of beautiful stars while the crowd sang the songs in unison. It is heartwarming too to see other concert goers’ pure joy in celebrating the praise and worship for that night.
That concert experience is the first one of my friend. She is currently waiting on a life-turning decision and going to that concert enlightened her to be stronger and have faith in God.
I am blessed to be in a country where everyone can freely practice our faith, whatever the religion is. I do hope Hillsong will come back again for another concert.

Depend on God: Key to a Blessed Life (CCF Sunday Service)
June 17, 2018—I attended again CCF Sunday Service after I missed out one Sunday because of our travel abroad. The topic is how to depend on God to have a blessed life.
Bible Verses
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, He went up a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and sat down. His disciples came to him, and He began to teach them. - Matthew 5:1-2
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:3

Pray, ask, communicate, talk, and reach out to God for asking wisdom.
Wisdom comes to the heart that is hungry for God. Wisdom is what God gives to the man who forsakes his sin and turns to his Savior. – A.W. Tozer
Prayer enables you to tap into God’s wisdom anywhere, anytime, no matter what’s going on. – Elizabeth George
When you only pray when you have a problem…you have a problem.
God’s Wisdom comes from knowing God’s Word.

A Personal Testimony from the wife of the pastor
In relation to our topic, the wife of the pastor who preached that Sunday shared the miraculous transformation in their lives. She grew up as a Christian but moved away from God in her college years. She eloped with her husbands. In their married life, they experienced struggles in relationship, finances, and family matters. Her husband is a womanizer and she always nags him for it. Quarrels become part of their daily routine. Their children were distant to them. She felt God already reaching out but insists on doing things in her own terms until one night, her husband left the house. She cried and thought of just ending it all by killing her children and committing suicide afterwards. Then, she felt again God’s presence and the prompting to play a Christian song. She trusts her life to God from then on. Slowly, she came back to church with their children. As her husband continues womanizing, she showed kindness and gentleness to him. One day, her husband asked if he can join in the couples retreat. It was the time her husband accepted Christ. Throughout the years, God blessed them with a happy family relationships, businesses, and ministries. She went on saying that the God we have is the God of transformation. If He changed their miserable lives, He can also do the same to our lives.

Ricci Rivero made headlines few weeks ago in the world of local sports for his transfer in UP Fighting Maroons. UP community and fans are thrilled with this development for their growing steady roster of talented players. However, he will wait for a year before donning the white and maroon jersey to serve his residency.
His supporters eagerly want to see him back on the playing court soon. He continues to be one of the fan favorites and these are some of the reasons.
Impressive Athleticism
Those who have watched him play often notices his great athleticism. His high-flying vertical leap lets him do those cool dunks posterizing opponents and hypes up the crowd. His euro step is a delight to see too for these fans as he attacks the basket and leaves his defender behind. Coach Chot Reyes, head of Gilas coach, revealed the names of potential players who may be in the line-up of FIBA World in 2023, into which Philippines is the host. Sports enthusiasts already noticed the exclusion of De La Salle players. It was explained that their management wants their players to focus first on their team in their rebuilding which Coach Chot respected. Despite of this fact, the UAAP Mythical 5 awardee showed his willingness to be a part of Gilas by showing up in their training as a spectator on the sideline.

His unassuming and grateful character is one of the core reasons why his fans keeps on increasing in numbers as they support him. He never took credit all for his self. He always share his success and achievements with everyone who helped him along the way.

Most Rev. Michael Curry’s Moving Sermon in #RoyalWedding: A Reminder of What Love Should Be
The Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was the most talked about event worldwide in this month of May. One of its highlights is the powerful sermon of Rev. Michael Curry.
He is the first black presiding bishop of Episcopal Church. His ancestors are from the lineage of African slaves. He is a known advocate of social justice and equality.
Everyone was moved with his sermon. The Internet admired how Most Rev. Curry explained and illustrated how love should be. The love he referred to is not simply limited to the love between husband and wife, but to all forms of love in this world.
Indeed, this world will be in a better place with the kind of love he emphasized.
The kind of love that is so strong it can overcome hatred, racism, poverty, inequality, oppression, apathy, and indifference. The kind of love that is so selfless it drives people to be willing to sacrifices their interests for the sake of everyone. The kind of love that is so gentle it teaches patience, persistence, and perseverance despite of repeated hurt, failures, and rejections.
In a world where love truly rules, each one will be in a happy family, assuring relationships, safe community, and progressive country regardless of the age, socio-economic status, religion, race, color, beliefs, ethnicity, and principles.
In a world where love inspires everybody, no one will be left behind. Every conflict and problem are given solutions through the initiative and cooperation of individuals and groups. No more heartbreaking stories on the news caused by war, crime, or poverty because love can propel improvements and breakthroughs to end them all.
We all long and desire for that world full of genuine love where the joy will always surpass the pains. It will be difficult because it needs us to go extra mile, have a change of heart, and focus on the positive always. These struggles will bear a fruitful reward in the end because every action with love has an encouraging ripple effect to ourselves and other people.
In this one life each of us have, let us always be reminded of the great driving force of love behind the things we say, do, and decide in our everyday life.

“Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death, passion fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, a raging flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it.” - Song of Songs 8:6-7
The late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, and I quote:
“We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we discover that, we will be able to make of this old world a new world. Love is the only way.”
There’s power in love. Do not underestimate it. Don’t even over-sentimentalize it. There’s power in love. If you don’t believe me, think about a time when you first fell in love. The whole world seemed to center around you and your beloved. Oh, there’s power, there’s power in love.
Not just in its romantic forms, but any form, any shape of love. There’s a certain sense in which when you are loved and you know it, when someone cares for you and you know it, when you love and you show it, it actually feels right. There’s something right about it.
And there’s a reason for it. The reason has to do with the source. We were made by a power of love. Our lives were and are meant to be lived in that love. That is why we are here. Ultimately the source of love is God himself. The source of all of our lives.
An old medieval poem says it:
“Where true love is found, God himself is there.”
The Bible, 1 John 4 says it this way. “Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; Everyone who loves is born of God. Whoever does not love does not know God For God is love.” (1John 4:4-8)
There’s power in love. Love can help and heal when nothing else can. Love can lift up and liberate for living when nothing else will. There’s power in love to show us the way to live. Set me as a seal on your heart, for love is as strong as death.
And the love that brings two people together is the same love that can bind them together, Whether on mountaintops of happiness and through valleys of hardship.
Love is strong as death Its flashes are flashes of fire. Many waters cannot quench love. Love can see you through! There’s power in love.

But the love of which we speak is not only for couples getting married or just for interpersonal relationships.
Jesus of Nazareth taught us that the way of love is the way to a real relationship with the God who created all of us, and the way to true relationship with each other as children of that one God, as brothers and sisters in God’s human family.
One scholar said it this way:
“Jesus had founded the most revolutionary movement in human history: a movement built on the unconditional love of God for the world and the mandate to live that love.” (Charles Marsh’s The Beloved Community)
I’m talking about power. Real power — power to change the world.
If you don’t believe me, well, there were some old slaves in America’s antebellum South who explained the dynamic power of love and why it has the power to transform.
They explained it this way — they sang a spiritual, even in the midst of their captivity, it’s one that says: “There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole. There is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin sick soul. If you cannot preach like Peter, And you cannot pray like Paul, You can tell the love of Jesus, How he died to save us all. That’s the balm in Gilead.”
This way of love is the way of life. They got it — he died to save us all. He didn’t die for anything he could get out of it. Jesus did not get an honorary doctorate out of it.
He wasn’t getting anything out of it — He did it for others, for the other, for the good and well being of others. That’s what love is
Love is not selfish and self-centered. Love can be sacrificial. And in so doing, becomes redemptive. And that way of unselfish, sacrificial, redemptive love can change lives and it can change this world.
If you don’t believe me, just stop and think and imagine a world where love is the way.
Imagine our homes and families when this way of love is the way. Imagine our neighborhoods and communities when love is the way. Imagine our governments and nations when love is the way. Imagine business and commerce when this love is the way. Imagine this third old world when love is the way.
No child would go to bed hungry in such a world as that. When love is the way, we will let justice roll down like a might stream and righteousness like an ever-flowing book.
When love is the way, poverty will become history. When love is the way, the earth will be a sanctuary. When love is the way, we will lay down our swords and shields down by the riverside to study war no more.
When love is the way, there’s plenty good room — plenty good room — for all of God’s children. When love is the way, we actually treat each other like we are actually family. When love is the way, we know that God is the source of us all. We are brothers and sisters, children of God.
Brothers and sisters: that’s a new heaven, a new earth, a new world, a new human family.
Let me tell you something: Old Solomon was right in the Old Testament — that’s fire. And with this, I will sit down: we got to get you all married.

The late French Jesuit, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, was at once a scientist, a Roman Catholic priest, a theologian, a true mystic. His was one of the great minds and spirits of the 20th century. He suggested that the discovery and harnessing of fire was one of the great scientific and technological discoveries of human history.
Fire, to a great extent, made human civilization possible. Fire made it possible to cook food, thereby reducing the spread of disease. Fire made it possible to stay warm in cold climates, thereby marking human migration around the world a possibility.
Fire made the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, the Industrial Revolution possible. The advances of science and technology are greatly dependent on the human capacity to take fire and use it for human good.
Anybody get here in a car today? Nod your heads if you did. I know there were some carriages.
If you drove here this morning, you did so in part because of harnessed fire. I know that the Bible says I believe that Jesus walked on water, but I have to tell you, I didn’t walk across the Atlantic Ocean to get here.
Controlled fire in that plane got me here. Fire makes it possible for us to text, tweet, email, Instagram and Facebook and socially be dysfunctional with each other. Fire makes all of that possible.
De Chardin said that fire is one of the greatest discoveries in all of human histories. He then went on to say that if humanity ever harnesses the energy of fire again, if humanity ever captures the energy of love, then for the second time in the history of the world, we will have discovered fire.
Love is the very fire and energy of real life!
Dr. King was right: We must discover love. The redemptive power of love. When we do that, we will make of this old world a new world.
“My brother, my sister, God love you, God bless you. My brothers, my sisters, God love you, God bless you. And may God hold us all in those almighty hands of love. Amen.”

Vice Ganda's Realizations Gives Hope for Those Struggling With Their Self-Worth
Vice Ganda shared his heartwarming realizations in Showtime last May 21. Recently, he was in the news as he admitted about experiencing depression. A happier Vice was seen in Showtime as he shared his realizations to the madlang people.
He explained how he felt anxiety and depression to the extent of seeking for a medical expert’s help. He was not diagnosed as clinically depressed yet but he was burned out according to his doctor. The Gandang Gabi Vice host revealed he felt down because he cannot find yet his purpose.
He even compared his self to some of his Showtime family. He said Anne Curtis and Billy Crawford are starting a new chapter in their lives after their wedding. Also, Amy Perez-Castillo is a mother and wife to her family waiting for her after Showtime. Vice mentioned his everyday life feels like it is just limited to being a clown as he makes people laugh hence he longed to find his purpose.
These thoughts went on until he performed in his sold-out concerts abroad. His encounter with elders and a fan with a Down syndrome changed his perspective. These fans thanked him for making them happy away from their pains and other sad realities, even just for a certain time.
The Unkabogable Star was so touched because he said he was one of those gifted with the talent to give out laughter so he embraced more now his purpose. Here is a part of the 10-minute sharing of Vice in Showtime, "My purpose is to make people laugh….I found my purpose and now I vow that I will not quit. I will continue to make everyone happy. Because for as long as you are happy, I am happy. I am serving you and I'm serving God. I love my life. Ang saya ko ngayon kaya gusto kong pumasok agad kasi gusto kong i-share ang saya ng puso ko."
Vice Ganda is one of the most successful local celebrities. His milestones in the showbiz industry include sold-out concerts, millions of fans, numerous endorsements, high-rating TV shows, blockbuster movies, and established lipstick line.
With all this success in his career, it takes humility to accept and share his weakness to the general public. This inspires people too to embrace their own flaws as they seek their purpose and passion in life. Also, he admitted he sought help from a medical expert. This is a step forward in raising awareness and fighting the stigma related to mental health issues especially because May is the #MentalHealth Month. His realizations too gives hope to everyone currently struggling in their self-worth as they find their purpose in life.

When Discouraged, Fix Your Eyes On God (CCF Sunday Service)
Our expectations bring discouragement especially if our current experiences do not meet it. The great news is, for as long as we fix our eyes on God, joy and contentment will be in our hearts. Last Sunday Service (June 3, 2018), this is the topic.
Bible verses:
On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: “Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, to Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people. Ask them,‘Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing?” - Haggai 2:1-3
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. - Philippians 4:8

Succeed at Work and Finances: Be a Good Steward
In another talk of CCF Taytay Singles Ministry (B1G), we got the rare chance to listen to an established God-fearing businessman. He imparted to us how to be a good steward of the work and finances God entrusted to us.
Our guest speaker is Bro. Joel Conrad C. Pedro. He is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Lamoiyan Corporation. Also, he is the Chief Adventure Officer (cool title! haha!) of his company, Adventure Kings.

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone. Common Complaints about Work: (a) “I’m not paid enough”, (b) “I may not even have a job tomorrow”, (c) “my contributions are not appreciated”, (d) “there is too much”, (e) “I feel I’m smarter than my boys”, (f) “I’ve been stuck in this position forever”, (g) “my boss is from the dark side”
Common perspective about work: (a) a curse, (b) a necessary evil, (c) just a means for me to pay my bills and send our children to school, (d) what will allow me to save up for recruitment and enjoy the rest of my life, (e) secular, ministry is sacred
The right view of work is the starting point for true success at work.
God blessed man with work.
3 things to develop: (a) Heart - Knowledge, (b) Hands - Skills, (c) Heart - Character and Culture
No matter what stage we are in, there is someone greater and better than us.
Heart is deceptive. Do not decide based on feelings.
Eternity is better than temporary things.
When you get success overnight, you will lose it overnight too.
Don’t FOMO(Fear of Missing Out) while you YOLO (You Only Live Once)
YOLO for Jesus. Live your life to the fullest for Jesus Christ by loving greatly.
God wants you to have a Yolo kind of life.
It’s more important how you finish.
God provides us with unique skills, gifts, and talents, and calls us to particular roles and activities. Although the roles might have apparent differences in importance, our callings are equal. They are a spiritual calling. There are no second-class callings from God. - Andy Mills
Your response is your responsibility.
The level of distress or pain you can overcome with God is the level of success you can achieve.
Not everybody will be given the same opportunity because we have different roles. Natural tendency is to compare.
Stewardship is not about what we have or not have. It’s what we do to what we have.
The right view of work helps in the right view of success.
Ability and wisdom to gain money comes from God.
Know why you do what you do.
It’s not how many or few God gives you but with how you use with what God gives you.
Tithes is returning, more than that is giving.
When God asks you clearly to do something, do it immediately.
Calculate and take risks immediately.
If something is entrusted to you, you have to be faithful.
There is a process, do not rush.
Good things with bad intentions will become bad things.
Focus on God because men disappoint.
Demonstration is an everyday revelation from God.
Success is about perspective. Focus on Jesus.
Success Factors: (a) Willing to Take Risks, (b) Obedience to Authority, (c) Responsibility and Accountability, (d) Knowing why you do what you do.
Personal Reflections
As of this writing time, I am experiencing budget constraint in my savings because I do not have yet a stable source of income from my freelance writing. God already showed opportunities through different people but I still need to wait for further instructions from them. I am assured He will take care of me as how He also demonstrated every blessing and miracle in my life.
I feel blessed too hearing Bro. Joel saying he is a product of God’s grace because he has several failures and mistakes in his life. It is through God that he is blessed now with those positions in the companies he work with, and with the loving family he takes care of.
Hearing this talk at this moment makes me realize God is reminding me to be a good steward. He can bless me anytime but maybe He is just waiting for me to be fully ready as soon as He overflows me in the aspect of finances and career. There is a process indeed because I cannot simply ask God to be a genie. God needs to see first a complete character reformation so I won’t waste His blessings, either unconsciously or deliberately, as soon as He grants them all to me.
We are all stewards of God. We should make the most out of all the gifts, talents, skills, time, and opportunities He gave us to fulfill His plans in our lives.

Lifegoals: Succeed in Passing on a Godly Legacy (CCF Sunday Service
Last May 20, 2018, the topic focused on how we can live a life wherein we can leave a godly legacy.
Bible verses:
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things I loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. – Philippians 3:7-14

(See Philippians 3:4-6): (a) Jew – circumcised on the 8th day, (b) of the people of Israel – Tribe of Benjamin, (c) a Hebrew of Hebrews, (d) in regard to the Law – a Pharisee, (e) trained under the revered Rabbi Gamaliel, (f) Zealous – persecuted the Church, and (g) legalistic righteousness – faultless
Paul has experienced new life value and meaning because of God’s love and grace!
God’s Mercy is bigger than any of your mistakes.
Christianity is different from being religious.
We can meet God in any time, place, and circumstance.
Culture boys grow up with involves not admitting their emotions and that they need help. They find it difficult to approach God and admit their own weakness and they need Him.
Surrender is not defeat but victory.
Christ nurtures and nourishes all aspects of our lives if we have a true relationship with God.
Too many questions affect our lives. (Do I still have a direction in my life? What is my purpose?)

Relationship breakdown: (a) self-centeredness, (b) inability to resolve conflicts (misunderstandings and miscommunications), and (c) ill-will to bitterness
Embrace restoration: (a) repent, (b) forgive, (c) lovingly initiate
Repent: (a) humble myself, (b) Ask God for forgiveness and get right with God, and (c) Restore the vertical relationship

Embrace Restoration | Ask the following questions (beware of being defensive): (a) How have I hurt you? (b) How can I improve? (c) Will you forgive me? Be patient; let God work.
True apology understands the pain they inflicted and its effect.
The problem with I am sorry is others say it only because they were caught and they just want to save face.
Apology and forgiveness are the key to restore relationships.

Our living and leaving a godly legacy begins in our hearts, in our personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
I always try to remember that I am a work in progress. When I maintain that perspective, I realize that I don’t have to be perfect. I don’t have to have it all together.

Have I trusted in the sacrificial in the sacrificial death of Jesus for a relationship with God?

Am I living my life in fulfilling God’s Great Commission or my own agenda?
Am I excited of my eternal rewards or temporary pleasures?
TRUE SUCCESS is becoming all that God wants you to be and doing all that He wants you to do, and hearing Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Go and Live Out Your God-given Purpose! (CCF Sunday Service)
The topic last Sunday, May 13, 2018, focused on living out our lives to fulfill the purpose God has in store for us. This Sunday Service inspired me to give my all because I want to live this life for God.
Bible verses:
The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come to give life and have it more abundantly. – John 10:10
…and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. – Galatians 2:20
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be! – 1 Corinthians 6:15
For you formed my inward parts; you wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul know it very well. – Psalms 139:13-14

The pastor shared two stories. First is about the two missionaries in their 60s and they have no family. They proclaim the Word of God in a remote area. They died due to a car accident. Other story is about a rich couple who retired at 40. They just lived their life in luxuries and comfort. They died old age. Which among these stories is a tragedy? How will they share their life stories to God?

It is important we know our identity in Christ. Our worth is dependent on Christ.
Baptism is publicly declaring we are in Christ.
Start to live for Christ and not on our own.
We are Christ’s Ambassador in our family.
Your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
God made us.
Trust in God.
Sacrificial Love is needed by fathers to their families.
Treat your family as your treasure not your possession.
A heart to please God is what the children needs to have.
Encourage.
The greatest day of your life is not the day you were born but the day you discover why you were born.
Serve one another whatever field you are in. (corporate world, businessman, volunteer worker, fulltime worker, missionary, housewife, athlete, and student)
The happiest are those who are serving God and serving others.
Serve one another especially because God restored our lives.
Be a Blessing to the Body of Christ.
Every day, we are given an opportunity to be a living witness to the people around us. It is a very sad thing to know how many opportunities we have failed to be a living witness for Jesus!
These are lies by the enemies of faith: (a) I am shy, (b) I am afraid, (c) I don’t know what to say, (d) I am not a Bible expert, (e) I am not a pastor, (f) That’s not my job, (g) I don’t want to be rejected, (h) My friends might laugh at me, (i) They might think I’m crazy, (j) I’m not a gifted speaker, (k) They will not listen to me.

Fusion of Poetry and Music: Words Anonymous Celebrated 4th Anniversary Show with Special Guest Ben and Ben
The following narration you are about to read is purely a fangirl’s perspective. Please allow me to share my own account of these great artists both in spoken word poetry and indie music.
Counting Down the Days Before #kWAtro…
I am a writer by heart with a special fondness for poetry, flash fiction, creative non-fiction, and short stories. Words Anonymous, the group of Filipino spoken word poetry artists, rises in the performing arts industry these past years. They are invited to different towns, cities, provinces, schools, bars, theaters, etc to perform their masterpieces. Their group is a household name for other writers, artists, and performers who want to share their pieces through spoken word poetry.
No wonder when they announced their Fourth Anniversary Show in PETA Theater Center last April 29, 2018 at 4pm, fans like me became excited and thrilled! It has been their annual tradition to perform with a full line-up of their artists to celebrate their anniversary. My excitement doubled when I found out Ben and Ben is their special guest! I recently listened to Ben and Ben due to the suggestion of my dear friend Kei. It was easy for me to invite Kei for the event. We reserved our tickets through a PETA employee and deposited our payment in their account. The ticket is priced P500 each, free seating. It is a value for money indeed because we saw the entire performers of Words Anonymous together with Ben and Ben. We both counted down the days until April 29, 2018 for their #kWAtro. #kWAtro is their twitter hashtag showing the wordplay of Words Anonymous’ initial (WA) inside this Spanish word. True enough, we can’t wait for the event!
4.29.2018: The Day We Waited For!
It was a Sunday so Kei and I went first to a Christian church to attend a Sunday Service. Afterwards, we had our lunch in UPTC. We went straight to PETA and arrived there around 2:30pm. I thought we were one of the firsts to queue in line since we arrived one and half early ahead of the event proper but maybe around 30 people came earlier than us. We claimed our tickets into which the PETA employee handed it out to me with my printed name on it. They are very organized. Merchandises were available at the lobby of PETA. They set up an area too for fans to purchase the books “Tuwing Ikatlong Sabado” and “Habang Wala Pa Sila” by Words Anonymous and Juan Miguel Severo. I check my watch how many minutes left before the show as the line gets longer.
15 minutes before 4pm, PETA staffs guided us inside the PETA theater. The venue is cozy and comfortable. We got to choose the seats we want. The stage design has a drum set and two microphones placed on a mic stand. The low lighting accentuated the mood for the event. At around 4:00, one of the Words Anonymous artists went to the stage and said the show will start in a minute.
I saw them performed before in their second anniversary show but I told myself to expect the unexpected. Words Anonymous, after all, loves creating pieces out of topics I may not even think of and performing them always at their A-game. They can turn any inanimate and neglected objects as powerful and lovely metaphors. I guarantee you, you will never look and think of the same things again after you witnessed them perform.
They all stood in front to open the show and had a little chitchat with us. I love how outgoing and carefree they are. It was if they were about to perform for friends, not fans. They exited the stage and their first artist stepped in front of the mic. What added to the character of the show is artists have his or her own entrance song before performing, which I heard, are their personal choices. Similar to a boxing or wrestling match, those songs excited the audience.
At that moment, I lost track of time. For every Words Anonymous artist, my eyes were glued to the stage. They don’t just stand there, immobile, in front of the mic. They gave their best in their theatrical-like performances. Their eyes connected to my core. Their facial expressions are precise in delivering the emotions of their respective pieces. Their stance and gestures added flair to their performance. I saw more physical manifestations of their emotions associated to the poems, from tears of pain and anger to smiles of gratitude and excitement. My ears were stuck to how strongly their voices convey their pieces. The volume, rate, inflection, and other factors important for public speakers were clearly heard in those lines of their poems. Whether they technically know these factors or not, it doesn’t matter because all their performances were so naturally done! My heart had a roller-coaster ride in that event. I felt disturbed, grateful, happy, sympathy, anger, joy, doubt, sadness to name some of those emotions. I laughed, became teary-eyed, gnashed my teeth, clenched my fist, clapped, threw my hand in mid-air, and so many impulsive and immediate reflexes in respond to what I felt in their poems. How can I not feel these things? One of the distinct character of Words Anonymous and their respective pieces is its diversity of topics and themes. Family problems, self-worth, feminism, stereotyping and prejudice against marginal sector, injustice against laborers like farmers, elation and heartaches brought by love, storytelling of a personal milestone, self-acceptance existential crisis, etc---these are some of the topics and themes I remember. I love how they use different figures of speech to make the pieces more poetic. I was blown away with every performance. They also performed in pairs which showed coordination and teamwork as there were no dead air and hesitations in their exchanges or unison. They performed in two sets as they gave way for Ben and Ben in the middle of their show.
Ben and Ben! Where do I even start narrating about them? After the first set, it was their turn for the show. I like their songs because they infused metaphors, images, and symbolisms in their lyrics. Their songs have that melody and arrangements I immediately was hooked on. I got excited when they went to the stage and tested their instruments. I was thrilled because it was my first live band experience. They had a short introduction for their songs as to give clues for us. Ben and Ben started their set with “Bibingka” and everyone screamed at the top of our voice. I cannot even compare how great it was watching and hearing them live to any online videos I watch them. I immersed myself in the moment! The harmony of the instruments and their voices (both main vocalist and back-up vocals) tickled and warmed my heart. They performed their iconic song “Kathang-Isip” and it needed no introduction anymore. If I remember correctly, they performed 10 songs, or maybe less, but around 10 for sure. They ended with “Ride Home” and I just let go of myself that moment. The playful sounds from the keyboard, bass, drums, and their voices created a magnificent impression in my heart and ears. I even shouted “Encore! Encore!” because I want more.
Words Anonymous continued their second set. I checked my time when one of their artists said the next piece is their second to the last one. It was past 8:00pm that time! Wow! Time flew rapidly and I did not even notice it at all! It was a solid 4:00-8:30pm show of spoken word poetry and music!
How I wish I can just lend you all my heart for a second for you to exactly feel what I felt that night because none of my words here will be enough to accurately describe it in details.
I feel so blessed and grateful for experiencing that moment. I swear you will have one of the best moments of your life so check them out!

A Letter To Sarah Geronimo From a Silent Fan: You Are More Than Enough
Dear Sarah,
You trended recently for a specific reason. It is not because of another new album, award, movie, or endorsement. Your Las Vegas tour of “This 15 Me” concert became the recent buzz online as you cried and admitted feeling empty and searching for fulfillment. You apologized to the audience and thanked everyone for believing in your 15 years in showbiz. You wished you can survive the night. Your heart is overwhelmed with emotions that you yourself might not even recognize what are those anymore.
Allow me to remind you that you are “The Pop Princess” who dominated in almost two decades. You entered the music and showbiz industry way back in 2003. You are the grand champion in “Star For A Night” hosted by your idol Regine Velasquez and broadcasted in IBC 13. You sang your heart out with your winning piece “To Love You More” by Celine Dion. I remembered how you cried tears of joy as you sang your winning piece after announcing you won it all. In the middle of raining confetti and hugs from your family and fellow contenders including Mark Bautista and Angeline Quinto, you still cannot believe it.
My classmates teased me for being a fangirl as I allot a part of my allowance in high school to purchase your magazine and first ever self-titled album. I read in the magazine I bought how your parents do everything to make both ends meet, how you badly want to provide for your family, and how winning in Star For A Night turned your dreams into a reality. I have a penchant for supporting a rising personality especially if they are family-oriented and God-fearing. I respected you more since then.
Reviving a reality singing competition format became a huge hit that time on a TV timeslot as these new breed of talents are a breath of fresh air for the viewers. Your rise to stardom inspired networks to launch singing competitions, which started in the 2000s decade. It paved the way for Yeng Constantino, Erik Santos, Jonalyn Viray, Morisette Amon, Aicelle Santos, Christian Bautista, Rachelle Ann Go, Darren Espanto, etc.
Along with your innate talents and passion for music, You worked hard in your career. Your work ethics is impressive as proven by colleagues, mentors, and experts in the industry. As a result, you gained numerous successful albums, sold-out concerts, endorsements, awards, and the valuable support of fans. You become one of the faces of the new generation of local artists. In your career spanning 15 years, you undoubtedly grow as a total performer.
You inspired more dreamers to make their dreams come true as well. I mentioned Darren Espanto. You were his coach in The Voice. You shared your knowledge, expertise, and years of experience to these dreamers as Coach Sarah. You have a huge and generous heart to bring out the best in them.
I am happy with all your milestones. Not all 29-year old can achieve what you did. Little did I know you have a void inside you…that behind the smiles and success, you seek for fulfillment and lasting joy.
You mentioned you are pressured to always do good and to be a role model. I started to think again that the majority of what I see is just the glitz and glamor of the industry. I do not see first-hand the sacrifices and efforts you give behind the spotlight. I do not know how exhausting the sleepless nights you had for the rehearsals, shoots, VTRs, and tours. I do not have an idea how you manage your everyday schedule with the little privacy left for you. Popular and well-loved artists like you are scrutinize and nitpick with every detail including your personal life. The expectations are so high that sometimes maybe you feel it is a grave mistake to show even a glimpse of your weaknesses. Needless to say, there is an overwhelming pressure behind all the glamor you experience.
From this point, let me say you are doing great. You are more than enough for everyone who loves and believes in you.
Fans like me poured out our messages of concern and support for you online. We all want to assure you are doing great in your performance. Some of us suggested you rest for a while. All of us wants cares for your own sake and happiness. For us, you are and will always be a true inspiration and assure we will always be there for you.
Sarah Asher Geronimo…Your name was derived from the Bible. Sarah means “princess” and Asher means “happy”. It has been said that the meaning behind our names resonates in our life. You are already a Pop Princess. Take this time now for yourself…and hopefully soon, be a happy princess like what your name signifies.

Succeed in Family Relationships: Embrace Restoration (CCF Sunday Service)
CCF Sunday Service last April 29, 2018 discussed about succeeding in family relationships. I and my friend Kei attended CCF Katipunan since we will watch a show in PETA Theater Center in the afternoon. These are the contents of the topic.
Bible verses:
Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you. Leave the gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. - Matthew 5:23-24
Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us word of reconciliation. - 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself. – Philippians 2:3

Jacob DeShazer is a soldier and prisoner of war in Japan. He was imprisoned and tortured for years during World War II. A Bible was slipped in their prison and he read it. He accepted Christ while he is in prison. He forgave the Japanese soldiers who hurt him. He was released from the prison after the war and returned to his native land. He with his family came back to Japan to be a Christian missionary.
Captain Fujita is a Japanese head of an army who heard of the story about Christians who requested to pray for the Japanese soldiers who were about to kill them. The Christians were killed and it left an impression on Captain Fujita who is the God they are serving for them to forgive this way. One day, he received a pamphlet about the God of Israel and the Bible. It was from the missionary Jacob DeShazer. Captain Fujita started reading the Bible and accepted Christ in his life.
How do we love? Love is an unconditional commitment towards an imperfect person to seek their highest good which often requires sacrifice resulting in God’s glory.
Embrace Restoration | Ask the following questions (beware of being defensive): (a) How have I hurt you? (b) How can I improve? (c) Will you forgive me? Be patient; let God work.
Relationships bring joy so broken relationships bring sorrow.
Relationship to God and to our neighbors are the best ones.
Relationship with God directly impacts our relationship to others.
Strained relationship is when people starts to be cold.
You can’t have a relationship with God if you are cold to people.
Jesus reconciles us to God.
This world needs to be restored and God uses us for this purpose.
Self-centeredness makes us elevate ourselves and disregard others.
To resolve conflict, do not assume. Ask questions.
Resolving conflict needs to get to the heart of the problem.
Conflicts are normal, we just need to learn to resolve it.
Ill-will means being happy at others’ misfortune.
Don’t let ill-will get in your heart. Repent it to God. Forgiveness is acknowledging you are hurt but it is a choice to forgive them as how God forgives us.
Forgiving is never bringing it up again. No replaying of it in mind.
Let God do the judgment and justice. He is fair and just.
If you start praying for your enemies, you have forgiven.
Intervene in a loving way to help others see their mistakes.
We embrace restoration because we destroy relationships unconsciously.
We lovingly initiates when our loved ones go astray.
Disobedience brings confusion.
Forgiveness brings peace.
Jesus is the ultimate reconciler
