#pimpmybio
this is approximately 1000 years late and i don’t even use this blog anymore but i needed somewhere to put this lmao so here we go. it’s going under a read more because even though i think i hate talking about myself i know this will probably get long 🙃
some basic facts before i get into the fun stuff:
recent college grad (english major woo)
i love any and all animals but some favorites are: sea otters, cats, dogs, sloths, penguins.......basically i love cute things
at this point in my life i need a hea / hfn which is why i read/write romance. sorry @ every other genre. it’s not you, it’s me
everything i write has an ownvoices aspect
you can find me on twitter here just in case you found this somewhere that is not twitter
five facts about my ms
adult contemporary romance
set in media, pa just outside philly
family dynamics are important
imo the heroine, olivia, is pretty funny when she’s not stressing out about money
the hero, graham, wants to help olivia but she’d rather nobody know about her problems because she’s got it, thanks.
extra fact: 😏
some notes about my ““process””
lmao
i debated leaving it at that but i’m a Serious Writer so here we go
usually, i write in the mornings. sometimes i write at night but it doesn’t flow as well idk why
i open a blank doc, name it ‘characters and outline,’ and i break that into sections
ex: characters, summary, outline; some books get more sections like history, lore, etc but this one just had the first three
sometimes i start with a few lines of dialogue, an image, or a short description of characters and go from there
ex: for this ms, i had three jumping off points. 1. olivia owns a bookstore, 2. graham works at a bakery, and 3. this visual “there has to be a moment where he caresses her chin and winks at her before leaving.” those were the only three things in the characters and outline doc until i started planning
other times, i write a summary for the book. a mini-query, if you will.
i just remembered i did that for this ms and i’m so upset i didn’t incorporate parts of it in my pitch wars query 🙃
for this ms, i made a timeline. it just made sense because i needed to reference if something happened on a certain day, what time, and how much time had passed from beginning to end
the timeline also served as an outline. i wrote chapter numbers and added the scenes and which character would have the pov in each scene, since it’s a dual pov book
ummmmmmm. after the timeline was done i started writing. there was a lot of going back to change the timeline but it was mostly additions once i realized some characters needed more face time for the reader to get to know them or something like that.
i’m sure i missed something but that’s the gist~
six random hobbies / favorite things / etc
all you need to know about me is i watched hart of dixie for the first time a month ago and i’m now obsessed. zoe and wade 5ever
no jk i also love 3 of 4 current dctv shows. they got me back into comics which is awesome
i love girl groups and boy bands and i have my whole life
i’m a sucker for a good historical drama and i love tv shows focused on food (especially great british bake off, cutthroat kitchen, chopped, and guy’s grocery games)
i love video games? my boyfriend got me into playing a baseball game on my phone so that’s fun. i also like the sims, sim city, pokemon in any iteration, fantasy life, and diablo 3.
favorite tropes: when they have to sleep in the same bed 👌🏽, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, fake dating, fish out of water, return to hometown, reunion, royalty, and time travel. i’m sure i’m missing some but oh well
favorite songs right now: dua lipa’s whole cd, boys by charli xcx, get low by liam payne (fun fact: that’s where i got the title for my ms), heroe favorito by romeo santos, blue electric roses by travis garland, and any acoustic version of a little mix song
favorite tv characters: iris, wally, and cisco from the flash, zoe, wade, lavon and annabeth from hart of dixie, ravi from izombie, penelope from criminal minds, snart and mick from legends of tomorrow, and mary from reign
this got so much longer than i wanted it to whoops!! okay i’ll end with this: good luck fellow hopefuls!!! relax and stop checking your email 😂
#pitch wars#pimp my bio#well this kept me out of the pwteaser tag for a solid hour so cool#i feel so exposed now lmao#'relax and stop checking your email' i type as i check my email#i'm a mess

nanowrimo day 4
trying to double my word count today. we’ll see how that goes.
yesterday was a slow day. i wrote less than 200 words but they were words i didn’t have before so it’s okay. it’s only day four so there’s plenty of time to get all the words down.
today i’m writing out of order! maybe it’ll help me plot scenes for the middle of the book. i’ve never really written out of chronological order before so this should be interesting!

Quote
Writing begins with forgiveness. Let go of the shame about how long it’s been since you last wrote, the clenching fear that you’re not a good enough writer, the doubts over whether or not you can get it done. Sure, the nagging demons will come creeping back, but set them aside anyway, and then set them aside again when they do. Concoct a hot beverage, play a beautiful song, look inward, and then begin.
Daniel Jose Older, from a Nanowrimo pep talk, but good advice for most any writing. (via superfluousbananas)

nanowrimo day 1
the last time i did nanowrimo was in 2014. i was writing an article about my experience doing nano, taking the maximum amount of credits at school, and doing an internship. i wrote less than 20,000 words, which is the most i’ve ever written during nano.
this year, nanowrimo feels different. during the other six nano’s i’ve done i always felt like i was scrambling. like i always needed to be writing or else i was missing the point of nanowrimo. if i wasn’t writing i was feeling guilty about not writing. i would stay up to start writing at midnight and sleep in the next morning and feel guilty about it. i would force myself to sit down and write and feel guilty when i didn’t want to write.
this year i promised myself not to guilt myself into writing or feel guilty about not writing. i didn’t stay up late writing last night and when i woke up this morning i wrote for two hours. i passed my word count for the day and i want to keep going.
i feel light, happy, optimistic about the rest of the month. it’s going to be great.
