I've liked joking how frustrating and possibly infuriating Ulfric would find Miraak and Vokriid bc they're just so antithetical to Nord culture despite being like, the paragon symbols of it but honestly. now I think Ulfric would be mostly just quietly nonplussed. maybe concerned and certainly disappointed, but not angry.
like Ulfric asks Miraak any question at all and Miraak's answers are so fucking bizarre and outlandish that Ulfric doesn't even care how blasphemous or offensive they are. if anything, Ulfric is actually fascinated with Miraak. Miraak announces that Talos was a pathetic excuse for a Dragonborn and the only Septim worth sparing a thought to was Martin Septim and Ulfric doesn't even know how to respond to that so he keeps asking questions to see what other weird shit Miraak will say.

My fav headcanon about Miraak back on Nirn after thousands of years is that he’s still scared shitless of Paarthurnax. Like imagine working under the dragon cult and knowing Alduin’s lieutenant as one of the most cruel masters ever, whose name literally means overlord ambition cruelty, then fast forward after getting out of Apocrypha and the LDB says “hey I wanna introduce you to my dad” and it’s him. Miraak watching with abject horror as the LDB sits peacefully under him and meditates. I think that’s funny.

Veydis Colva This daughter of Colovian nobility and Eastmarch steel has a talent for escaping circumstances foisted upon her. Political marriage, a dark brotherhood contract and a vengeful daedric prince have so far failed to shackle her.

I think it'd be funny but also suck really bad if the dragon souls that the last dragonborn absorbs are like. Still present and can speak in ldb's head like a fucking Twitch Chat.
Even if it was just the named dragons and Miraak it'd be hectic but it could also be funny to have these fuckers providing commentary and shit for everything the ldb does.

A 4E revival of the Dragon Cult would have been SO cool. Especially since the cyclical nature of history and the “as above so below” motto have been running themes of TES.
kinda wanna play a nord character who’s contemptuous of both imperials and stormcloaks because in his view talos is a sham who usurped the place of mighty shor and considers it absolute folly that a “true nord” would throw their life away for a foreign god
like yeah of course there’s the lore where nords consider talos as one of their own because of the whole “atmora” thing but nords should also be perfectly aware that no immigrants came from atmora past the first era?? idk I just love the idea of there being this group of nords who consider even the stormcloaks to be too “imperialized,” perhaps not in policy but in religious beliefs, a deep-set resentment amounting to “if you’re not worshiping the old gods and their totems you’re just killing each other over the same fake ‘divines’ and you’re stupid.” nords who view ulfric as at least “half right” as far as motives go but who would not support him simply because even he is too “imperial.”
i just wish skyrim had included more of the nords’ old religion beyond their exclamations and such (by shor, etc) and gosh, it would have been so cool for there to be a “revival” of the even the old cult religion with alduin’s return. like most of the country is terrified of dragons but then there’s this newfangled (or is it really new?) movement of nords who are taking the dragons’ return as a sign that it’s time to dig all the totems and start praising our dragon overlords again. some modern charismatic “new dragon cult” leader donning the raggedy moth-eaten robes and corroded mask of a long-dead dragon priest, leading followers who wear only ancient nord armor and live in a cleared-out barrow. hell, an actual new dragon cult that appears to be independent but really serves the will of a dragon priest lich, sacrificing people in alduin’s name but sustaining the lich’s life force…
just, aahhh, more complex exploration of these things would have been nice instead of focusing almost exclusively on “nords love talos and that’s why they’re mad at the empire.” and i know you could argue that talos has taken shor’s place in the hearts of the people, but still!! it’s less interesting than a narrative where you’ve got pro-empire nords, anti-empire nords who are anti-empire because they love talos, and anti-empire nords who think the talos-loving anti-empire nords are idiots because shor is THE most disrespected god here.
also once i learn the modding knowledge i’m totally going to have a crack at that “new dragon cult” thing.
